The first question that might come to your mind here is, Why not buckets? Someone else explained this pretty well. You don't want to drink out of a bucket because that same bucket might have had lava in it, and there could be rocks in the bucket that were made from the lava. The crafting recipe for a mug isn't set in stone yet, so I didn't put it here. One idea would be:

A mug would look like this:
HUGE EDIT:
Mugs shouldn't be able to just allow you to drink water from an infinite spring and heal, nor should they only have one use. But picking up water from the ocean and drinking it? No way. To get drinkable water or any liquid, you will ALWAYS have to smelt something, and have a mug in the output of the furnace. This makes mugs less OP. So:
Input- bucket of water
Output- mug
(with a fuel source)
Gives you:
Input- empty bucket
Output- Mug of water- 1 heart heal when drinking, yields empty mug
Input- bucket of milk
Output- mug
(with a fuel source)
Gives you:
Input- empty bucket
Output- Mug of milk- 2 heart heal when drinking, yields empty mug
If Coco Beans are ever re-added to the game, then:
Input- Coco Beans
Output- mug
(with a fuel source)
Gives you:
Input- nothing
Output- Mug of hot chocolate- 4 heart heal (might change depending on how common coco beans are if they are ever released)
Input- apple
Output- mug
(with a fuel source)
Gives you:
Input- nothing
Output- Mug of apple cider- 6 heart heal (might change if apples get more common)
If oranges are ever added, then:
Input- orange
Output- mug
(with a fuel source)
Gives you:
Input- nothing
Output- Mug of orange juice- 6 heart heal (might change depending on how common oranges are if they are ever released)
Tl;dr: Mugs can be used to drink liquids, rather than move them.
So...get one cow or one water spring and you can heal all you want? That would just obselete farms.
Theoretically. But I'm thinking that mugs would be hard to craft and would be 1-use, possibly. So water and milk mugs would be kind of a waste of iron.
I LOVE this! However, for the hot chocolate, maybe you smelt the coco for hot chocolate powder and add it (in crafting) to a mug of water or milk! Also, milk should only be collectible from a placed bucket of milk (If its not a pain to code for Notch) or put it below a bucket of milk in the crafting grid to transfer it to the mug. If the placed bucket is used, then when you pick up the bucket, it empties it, and when placed a full bucket of milk gets 4 uses. Also, How is the mug crafted?

Nice Idea, but like a lot of people (will) have said, it makes farming obsolete, whoohoo heal spring
(all you need is an animal farm, a furnace and some mugs)
no matter how hard it is to get, love the idea emotionaly
makes a lot of stuff obsolete logicaly (farming takes longer and bread isn't that good)

Well, smelting is kind of cumbersome, and killing a pig isn't as hard as smelting water IMO.
How if infinite healing from a cow any different than infinite healing from a wheat farm? The wheat is still better, because you can carry a lot more of it around with you. And if anything, animals are the hardest thing to farm (crops don't despawn when you go too far away, and getting grass where you want it is harder than any dirt irrigation). In fact, I'm not even sure that the milk should require heating.
And as for that water - same deal. With a 2x2 pool of water (and a lot of patience), you could either:
A) Get water from it, boil the water, drink the water - as much healing as you have fuel.
:cool.gif: Catch fish until you're fully healed and stocked up - no limit whatsoever. Also, if you do have fuel and furnace, cooked fish restore a lot more than 1 heart.
TL;DR - interesting idea, not overpowered (if anything, less potent than existing options). However, a mug should not require 2x as much metal as a bucket. Maybe:
[] [] []
This is actually overpowered let us compare farming wheat, and farming cows
Farming Wheat
Takes MineCraft Days
Needs an good design to get the most out of it
Needs a 3x3 crafting table to get bread
Mugs
Takes Minecraft minutes
Need 1 cow enclosed near you, one furnace and a couple mugs (not that hard to come by) and some buckets (not that hard to come by)
Don't really need a design, just need to enclose a cow into a space, and have a bucket some chests and some mugs handy
You only need 1 mug to get to full health
Milk doesn't have a drop rate, Cows can't go dry, Cows are easy to find (usually)
Maybe if the water, doesn't heal hearts but decreases thirst (thirsts system) and maybe if milk healed 0.5 hearts it would be less overpowered (since the most you could get out of it in 1 full quickbar will be 5 hearts
just decrease milk and make sure water doesn't heal that much and then I can semi-support, since cows would still become wanted
(maybe cows can "run dry" once they've given X amount of milk in X days, then they are full of milk again?)

Yes I think something similar to a cake with the buckets would be the best. But I think something harder to craft and separate from a bucket would be better. I could be called a basin. Its placeable and you could fill a mug or perhaps activate it with a mug to heal and yield more hitpoints that without a mug. So without a mug it heals 1x4 hearts and with it heals 2x4 hearts.

You could salvage the materials by destroying it afterwards?
Let me know what you guys think.
This is great except for water: It's just water, it should only heal 0.5 hearts. It's not like you loaded it with chemicals.
Since when does prokchop heal anyone? If someone has cancer, doctors don't give the guy some bread.
To OP, maybe you should make it so that you would either have to purify the water, using a purifier, or get the water from rain water, since notch is implementing rain into the new update.

What if all liquids you got were cold.
Then you would have to heat them up using a furnace to get more healing. Heated up drinks would heal twice a cold one would but take more fuel to get warm like say you have some milk and it heals 1 heart, then if heated up it would give 2 hearts while cold chocolate (Coco beans mixed with milk or water) would heal 2 hearts and heal 4 when warm, but will take more fuel to warm up then milk.
Already suggested. *HEAD BANG*ghghtygghgy Okay, let the thread die now guis!

Lol. Yes, I think that coffee should be added too. Maybe, it gives you a mining, attack, building, and movement speed boost for 5 minutes?

but thankyou for reminding me of this...
Also, your hot cocoa should have to be cooked.

= Barrel
A Barell can hold from 1 bucket? of "sterile" liquid to 10? each time it is used to fill a mug, it will deplete by one
can only hold one type of "Sterile" liquid at a time
