The Motor is also The Generator. Either state is not defined when created. The Motor must be connected to a source of rotation to create electricity and become the generator. Motor:

The windmill and waterwheel are both made with wood sticks and wood planks. The windmill must be placed atop high ground or reasonably above ground level to catch the wind and produce power, it however will not produce power all the time. Wind blows mostly during the day and any if at all at night isn’t strong enough to turn the blades. The waterwheel will always produce power when it is place on a moving current of water, but will not produce as much electricity as the windmill during the day. The Pump relies on water pressure and thus must come from an elevated water source traveling through pipe. That requires a bigger build but would be the best power source generation. Be aware! Protect your structures, monsters can attack and damage these if they aren’t built in safe areas.
When a motor isn’t creating electricity it can receive it to create rotation. Also made with sticks and wood planks Fan Blade uses less wood and is smaller in size. It will create a breeze that pushes you away right in front of it and if placed in a hallway will create a wind tunnel effect reducing the speed at which you can move upwind of the tunnel significantly. Place the blade facing up and you’ve now created a mob grinder that’s lethal even to you.

The Pump can also be used to pump liquids through pipes and you could use it to create a fountain. You could even create a water cannon to shoot mobs with!
There are boundless things you can do. Hook electricity to a metal pressure plate and viola electrocution by floor! I do not feel however that copper wire should replace Redstone because this would mean every time you made a trap you would have to assemble a power station nearby and in PvP it would be easier to just destroy the power source and all traps would be deactivated. I’ve also considered things like a Boiler, to create steam which can be plumbed in pipes, an air compressor which directly connected to a furnace will turn it into a blast furnace and create steel. Maybe even batteries can be introduced that you have to charge and we can create stun guns and shoot mobs with them. :tongue.gif: I know I've thrown a ton of suggestion in here but most of them involve electricity which goes hand in hand with Copper. I'd like some opinions and perhaps other suggestions about it. Since there's already Redstone I don't know if it would be considered to be implemented but I think it sounds interesting.
Though mobs would need to be a little smarter since electrifying a stream would become yet another monster farming method, although I do enjoy the machines in this game a lot. I hope you guys expand upon them :smile.gif:
Redstone Switches and buttons could substitute as devices for controlling electricity, or copper equivalents could be instead. Probably best to separate them.

So if copper wires are introduced they will probably appear on blocks as Redstone does, you just won't be able to tell if they have power without hooking something to them.

This when connected to powered copper line will produce a light source that remains on as long as you have power provided to the line. I'm not sure how complicated it would be in the code to make it so that one power source will only provide power to say 64 lights, but I think it's needed. Obviously the windmill would only provide power during the day so you'd have to create underground water pump generators to light your mining operations. I would hope copper is plentiful enough to begin substituting as light sources right away because I'd hate to be stuck deep underground when all my torches burn out.
I can't believe I didn't get one single reply. Hasn't anyone else considered this? I searched for stuff on copper and didn't find much of anything at all.
Not to rain on your parade, but this idea just isn't going to stick, methinks. At least not the electricity bits. We have redstone, let that suffice. The pipe idea is certainly interesting, but I'm sure that will suffer from the same issues as water in general.
The idea of making complicated devices and such isn't bad, but... Well, I don't think they'll ever make into the game.
Well technically some of this stuff can work with redstone, the problem is that redstone has it's power provided already by the device or torch, this would require you to build a network of wiring to assemble something larger, and instead of the limited range like redstone you could increase it's range significantly. Oh well I just want to hear what others think. Besides who wouldn't want to build a functional windmill in the middle of their farm?
There's a thought too. If you connected an axle to your windmill motor directly, instead of generating power the rotation would be translated directly to the axle and you could connect it to a grinder to mill flour from grain. Same for the waterwheel. Both were originally used for that anyways.
I would still like some other feedback. There's already a huge thread about Copper and Tin ore but that's just so we can have Bronze as a material, but this would give us more uses for the Copper. Copper could be as abundant as coal, but to control how much Bronze appears in the game the Tin could be the rarer ingredient.
I don't think the power line idea would work and the pipes would be extremely hard to do. Imagine all the plumbing. You'd be cutting walls and floors everywhere to put pipe where you wanted, but it would make for some interesting traps. If a Nozzle worked like a dispenser and was hooked up to a water pump that was powered then you could create a fountain or a water cannon. Might even make a way for an elevator but not very high.
I edited the OP to include Copper Lightbulbs. A reasonable and more resource intensive replacement to torches, which will also become a more reasonable permanent light source. However with the amount of glass needed for all these light bulbs if they were implemented I'd like to see sand make at least 4 glass at a time.
