Yeah. Also, if there's lions, can there be buffalo and crocodiles?
I'm not saying those aren't great idea, because they are!
But think about the balance of the game's bigger picture: Survival.
Each animal offered in the game should always relate in some relevant way to the player. They have to present a challenge, or be the answer to another challenge. (i.e. Challenge - Hostile Mobs make it tough to survive in the open night; Solution - while Cows facilitate survival by being a food source.) Or they drop items of value and importance.
An animals mere aesthetic contribution, while nice, is not as vital as it's contribution to the player's gaming experience.
I think the player exists in the Minecraft world amongst the animal life, not the other way around. So a vibrant animal kingdom, in my opinion, is a huge plus!
Thus Biome Habitats make it possible to discuss realistically the inclusion of a host of different animal life and their potential impact on the game.

Biome Habitats have a direct bearing on why I've suggested that hostile mobs be only underground.
The aboveground is the habitat of people, plants, and animals. The underground is the habitat of mysterious, incomprehensible monsters.
There''s balance in that proposal. Threats exist both above and below. Survival is still the central theme.
Currently Hostile Mobs exist both above and below ground. So my suggestion isn't an altering of that balance, but rather an embellishment.
However, there is currently a certain refrain during the daylight, as most hostile mobs aren't around during the day.
"So if there were predator animals wandering their habitat during the day, wouldn't that throw off the balance?"
This is a good question and i'm not fixed firmly on a single solution. Predators can be given AI that causes them to avoid a Player for the most part and be only provoked into aggression. The act of provoking doesn't have to be limited to one thing. Perhaps one pride of lions will flee from a Player up 4 or 5 times before attacking, whereas another pride won't flee at all and attack immediately when the Player gets too close.
Again, the overall balance of the game must be considered carefully.
Boars are in the idea, but aurochs? That's just like asking for mammoths!
Mammoths went extinct back at the end of the Ice Age, with the last ones dying out 4,000 year ago. Auroch still survived into the 17th century, which is more than a hundred years since Christopher Columbus sailed into the New World. So I wouldn't consider the auroch prehistoric. It would kind of fit in with the theme of Minecraft, where the technology level is around medieval (with redstone and CDs being a notable exception). And both boars and aurochs were hunted during the medieval times.
I think Crocodiles should be a good idea for swamp predators, and would drag away any other animal towards the water. They would drop Crocodile pelts that could be used as an equivalent to chainmail, but obtainable. And as for ocean predators, I think it'd be cool if Guardians could rarely spawn randomly in oceans as a surprise ambush. And maybe in deep oceans some kind of large sea serpent type thing to make oceans more lively and worth going to. Also would make it less boring, because boats and oceans are the most boring thing in Minecraft.

The gorilla idea, to me, was fairly decent, considering that he made the valid point that jungle temples are predictable. What I didn't like, mob-wise, was the idea of yetis in Snow Biomes. You might as well have Bigfoot in Forest Biomes and Nessy in the Ocean.
But what I would like to see is more predators in the water, speaking of which. That would be kind of like Swordfish down in the Stronghold, but they would be everywhere. For example, piranhas could spawn in the waters of Jungle Biomes. They would attack everything in sight and are very hostile, but lack in hearts and give both raw fish and teeth when killed. The teeth could be used in potions or as arrowheads for, quite litteraly, razor-sharp accuracy. A more neutral idea is the shark, who give five raw fish when killed but spawn in groups. They are friendly when you have all hearts still, but start attacking when you lose a few.
Please comment on this.

I like most of the idea, but gorillas as hostile animals? Pfff. I'd rather have them either passive or neutral.
Also, if all the nighttime mobs (save for witches, as those should spawn near witch huts) would be moved to underground, how would zombie sieges happen?
80% support.

I hadn't thought of zombie sieges! I do like a good siege! I'm not sure how, but I wouldn't want sieges to be removed simply because zombies spawn primarily underground. Perhaps there is way to have both?

Thanks for the partial support and I apologize if I've been vague.
Again, my suggestion this: Rather than overworld animals spawning in whatever general area a Player is in, have them spawn only in certain biomes which would be thought of as their Habitat Biome. I've only provided a few examples of animals to show that Habitats would add to the dynamic feel of each individual biome, and as a result, the world as a whole.
Each biome should be a world onto itself! Complete with it's own plant and animal life and experience.
Fixing it this way would facilitate the inclusion of many new animal/plant varieties without overwhelming the world with random animals of every kind.

(This is really getting annoying AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)
I think that the gorilla should have a more original name like maybe Blocky Kong (see what I did there?)
also maybe scattered around the world could be graveyards that have loot and zombie spawners in them, the zombie spawners would just be there for support, but every night a grave yard would spawn any were from 5 zombies (warm ups for an iron golem) to 30 zombies (get out the tnt). They would spawn anywhere in your world, but always in villages, this would allow for sieges while making your minecraft world feel even more alive!
I'll make some examples and post them soon

so how do you take screen shots in minecraft? I tried f2 but that didn't work, I also tried printscreen+start but that took a screenshot of my home page.
I have on more that is only another view of the front
a few details are
1:the gold nugget is named Ring
2:loot that can appear in a chest are all the same things you can find in a dungon chest + clothes, bottle o' enchanting, "Wills", lesser potions (regen1 22 seconds, swiftness, ect.)
3:the spawn rate is double that of villages as they spawn alone as frequently as villages and villages will always spawn with graveyards,
for other details there is a comment above that should explain the rest.

Maybe we can have aurochs and boars in the overland. Then, one can tame them to become cows and pigs, respectively.

Fine. Dodos would be the example.

B-b-b-but they're monsters!
Im all in for new interesting mobs in MC! We are truly lacking in this side of the game.

Deer should drop venison instead of meat. Deer meat is actually called venison in real life.
