I assume this is already the case, as levers are technically the same as redstone (iow: on/off states). Just for the record, I don't think you should be able to place torches/levers...etc on the block (have it act like glass).
This is mostly a cosmetic suggestion but... grates would make nice bars for "cages" or "jails" for captured mobs, and a possible alternative to glass as the ONLY solid transparent block.
The benefit of grates over glass, however, is that it is easier to flood and unflood the chamber quickly (with creeper inside ]:smile.gif: ), mobs could see through the bars and try to attack you (unlike glass) but couldn't hurt you to their frustration, and present a possible new detector type:
Where mobs are mobs, are drainage grates serving as bars, and are wooden pressure plates. ONLY when the player is in the room will all the mobs step forward onto their respective pressure plates at once, effectively making a motion detector. The pressure plates can be hooked up to torches, arrow dispensors, drainage grates that make your "lava lamp" turn on or off...
I like the drainage grates. With the aid of flood control I could hind a door behind lava. Even without flood control it would be fun. I alwas wait to make a bridge going thrught a water fall. I also think it's good for doing more with clay.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Grates would give those mean creepers a hard time to blow up your base... And a easier trap!

Think about it like this: say you don't want water or monsters in your house, but DO want items? Do this!
=Partial
=Full
=Items
=Monsters
=You
Ta-Da!
Water flows straight through, monsters are immediately trapped by the first layer, and items fall through to the second layer!
That's very nice. Still I would want the grates.
