The wither isn't that hard of a boss For a mob that can inflict 30 seconds of Wither (which is more than enough to bring your health down and die of Wither effect) and shooting Wither Skulls at you whilst you have that effect. Not to mention that Wither's strong explosion is enough to destroy Obsidian. Obsidian, the only strongest block that is achievable in Survival. you should have all your diamond armor and regeneration potions by the time you beat the dragon. It's an end-game item, from an end-game boss I don't think you should consider anything in Minecraft to be end-game, because there is really no end to Minecraft. I could fight the Wither first and fight the Ender Dragon second, would then it be called a End-game item? The Water Monuments are tough, you need a ton of potions and armor to get--sponge and prismarine? This sounds like you're bailing on Sponge and Prismarine. Sponges are extremely useful (finally for that new update at least) with it's ability to suck out and absorb water. Prismarine may not have a use, but it's aesthetic, just like how the Nether Fortress' bricks are aesthetic, and the same reason why the Desert Temples and Jungle Temple's blocks are aesthetic. So you don't need to make a weapon out of an aesthetic block to give it a purpose, because you might as well just do it to all aesthetic block. Well the Prismarine Star seems like a better deal, and it's killing 2 birds with one stone. Now there's a reason to go through all the trouble with the water monument. But that's just for obtaining it.
Why does it have to be stronger for killing the wither over? I just stated that the wither isn't a really big deal And I just stated why it was. But let's say it did have to be better for killing the wither over- and this is just an idea Yes, it's just an idea, but don't use that excuse for making a suggestion, because that's pretty much what you're trying to do, so avoid excuses like that. As for the prize of killing the Wither, if you wanted to suggest a new use for the Nether Star, it should be one well-balanced and preferably not combat related in anyway. What if there was a whole new tier of armor and weapons added to the game, then everyone would have that tier and it wouldn't be overpowered, diamond would just be underpowered Yes, but unlike Diamond, it still has it's cons with it's rarity. And the only reason why other, much more powerful versions of the diamond sword doesn't exist is because it's also limited by the player's health. Diamond swords do 7 hearts of damage, some hits and a player without diamond armour is dead. But if you have a player in decked out diamond armour with sword and place him against an opponent with equal strength, you'd get a balanced fight. But if you were to implement, say, an Obsidian or Bedrock sword that would do 20 or 15 hearts of damage, that's enough to kill the player or weaken them to the point of only a few hits, especially if someone were to have a weaker armour tier. It would make PvP less of a challenge because of how strong it would be.. But I don't like that idea right now so let's stick with what I have
Uh, no. I say "It is written with my opinion", and "It", is just the little quote "it needs more uses". I can see how that might have been misinterpreted though. I should've just said "I gave ideas that could be good in some opinions" if I knew the community would be this harsh -.-
because when someone shoots it down, it'll be that much more embarrassing.
Oh and I'm not embarrassed at all, you should be. Why shoot down an idea when you can help repair it......or if you're too lazy to do that, just don't try to degrade the person. (why are people too lazy to help but not too lazy to degrade someone...?)

I'm assuming when you say "help repair it" you mean "suggest for the suggester".
A critic should
reply to the suggestion with feedback remaining impartial and unbiased toward the original poster and discusses the suggestion in terms of balance, flow, implementation, quality, usefulness, conceptualization, and understandability.
Did you see "suggest for the suggester" anywhere up there?
Also, leaving constructive criticism that adds something productive to the conversation is not degrading somebody. Quite to the contrary, it can be very useful and helpful if you take advantage of it and act upon it in a friendly manner instead of lashing out.
yeah i used the word "help" instead of "feedback" sorry.
Keep in mind, this is my first suggestion, my first post. I was just eager to get my idea out there, but let me get back on topic. I think I found a solution to the problem of it being unbalanced and not worth killing the wither over. If it is the same strength as a diamond sword, then it won't be overpowered, correct? But you may say "It would have to be far stronger for it to be worth killing the wither over, but then it would be overpowered". Well not exactly. It can be defaulted to 1 block farther than the hitting range of every other tool in the game, (is that 5 blocks?) and only with the range enchantment it will be increased. But still not powerful enough for killing the wither over..or is it? It'll have the durability of a diamond sword as well, so it's a ranged weapon (like the bow) with the durability of a diamond sword. If the range enchantment adds 1 block, then the max range will be 8 blocks. Way less than the bow, but for the damage and durability, it's worth fighting the wither over. But the range may leave it overpowered...so it can be reduced to a max range level of II instead of III, for a max range of 7. There are many factors that can be tweaked to make this weapon more balanced, so I'll experiment with it a bit and see what balance is the best, and recreate this suggestion if it's balanced and worth killing the wither over
It's an interesting idea, and in general I like it. I do agree with others though, in that it would be over powered. I'm sorry I can't give any ideas on how to fix that, I'm not really good at that. I did want to chime in though, and say I like the idea. It would need adjustment for me to fully support it, but as a start I really like it.

The bow is still better. It deals a max of 10 damage without enchantments or potions, and has an extremely long range. You can give bows unbreaking so they will last longer, effectively making this useless.
Not to mention you can use enchantments like flame and power to make it a near 1-hit kill for most mobs.
You can't make this weapon better than the bow, since that would be overpowered. But it's a double edged sword, because the bow will be more powerful if you don't increase the power.
As stated before, there is no a good way to balance this; you're better off revising the entire suggestion as a whole.
The bow is still better. So the bow isn't overpowered because of the charge time. It deals a max of 10 damage without enchantments or potions, and has an extremely long range. You can give bows unbreaking so they will last longer, effectively making this useless. Read the suggestion again, the star can also have unbreaking.
Not to mention you can use enchantments like flame and power to make it a near 1-hit kill for most mobs.
You can't make this weapon better than the bow, since that would be overpowered. I wont... just because it could do more or less damage doesn't make it better/worse. The bow is the strongest weapon in the game but the diamond sword is the best because of its DPS. But it's a double edged sword, because the bow will be more powerful if you don't increase the power.
As stated before, there is no a good way to balance this; you're better off revising the entire suggestion as a whole. "I'll recreate this suggestion..."
I don't see how people say this is overpowered, you have to wait for it to come back, has the damage in between bow and diamond sword, and with people saying "What if you have Sharpness V with a strength potion?" Same for the diamond sword, it's pretty powerful, I don't see how this is overpowered.
Nope. I shouldn't be and I won't be, because I know exactly what I'm talking about.
Why shoot down an idea when you can help repair it......or if you're too lazy to do that, just don't try to degrade the person. (why are people too lazy to help but not too lazy to degrade someone...?)
Go to the suggestion guide, and read why the statements you made just now are meaningless. "If my idea is bad, suggest what would make it better then!" is a common new-guy thing... Sometimes an idea can't be repaired if the core idea is bad. It's like putting a scooby-doo bandaid on an amputation. I'm not saying your idea is that bad, but I'm just explaining why that statement shouldn't be used.
It's also not our job to repair your suggestion for you. Yes, it does help when we chip in, but it's not a requirement of us. And just because we don't help fix a suggestion after we don't support doesn't make us "lazy".
And there's absolutely no sense in calling your own idea "exciting" or "interesting", because the suggesters opinions on his/her own suggestion is the weakest one, because we already know someone likes their own idea (hence why they posted it).

You should consider reading some stickies before you start accusing people of being lazy and expecting some things from users. Let me break some things down for you.
Just because someone doesn't support doesn't mean they are "degrading" you.
It's not our responsibility to fix something we don't like, that falls onto the maker of the idea, not us. So no, we're not... "being lazy".
Not every idea can be improved on. Sometimes the only good option for a suggestion is to not exist in the game at all.
Anyway, I can get on board with giving the nether star another use, but making it into a weapon? Ehh... I also find the weapon a bit underpowered considering the durability you gave it, and how much it takes to actually get a nether star. I'm also not crazy the nether star being made into a weapon, I'd prefer another permanent use like how the beacon is.

The bow has more damage by default, and much, much more range.
The bottom line is that the bow is better, cheaper, and more efficient.
