SethBling made his video almost a year ago, detailing his command-block implementation of a Lucky Rabbit's Foot:
I think it's a wonderful idea that could find a native implementation. In Seth's video, having the foot on your hotbar increases the chances of finding diamonds while mining. (*Technical details: whenever you mine a stone block, it drops a cobble or smoothstone item. These are then used, along with the player who mined them [based on radius and scoreboard score for mining stone] to determine the newly revealed block's position. It then checks the surrounding blocks to make sure no other space is empty, meaning it was completely hidden before. If so, it has a chance of being turned into a diamond ore, and this all happens the instant the stone is mined, so it looks continuous and smooth.)
My idea is to have a similar sort of mechanic natively. Either a Lucky Rabbit's Foot could be a rare drop from rabbits, or it could be a high-cost enchantment called Luck that provides the same sort of benefit (higher chance of finding diamonds while mining stone). If it's an enchantment, it could either:
1) Be applied to a Rabbit's Foot (not offered on anything else) and work from your hotbar,
2) Or it could be applied to armor and work while worn,
3) Or it could be applied to tools and work while using that tool (maybe pickaxes only?)
And if it's an enchantment, it could have several levels (1-5?) which each increase your chances of finding diamonds a little more (maybe a 10% increase per level, so a maximum of 50% increase).
Maybe it could work with emeralds, too, if you're in an Extreme Hills biome, but I don't know if that's nearly as useful as diamonds alone.
This just seems OP to me, as rabbits aren't exactly rare... Enchantments only require 5 diamonds, then it suddenly becomes easier to get diamonds? This seems a tad OP to me.

Also take a look at this guide if you are requesting builders for a server/project.
Please note, if I deny a suggestion because it is already possible, then I mean it is already possible withing 10 command blocks (That do not spawn other command blocks) or up to 5 creations (Command blocks that spawn other command blocks) to make your suggestion.
If I critique your suggestion I am not hating on you. Learn the difference.
Maybe having it as a drop isn't a good idea, but I don't think it's OP as an enchantment. You don't get enchantments just by having a table; it also costs lapis and, more importantly, XP levels. If it's only a 10% increase per level of enchantment, and it costs a minimum of, say, 10 or 15 levels per enchantment, I feel that's properly balanced. (Before anyone says "but XP farms!", by the time you have a decent XP farm, you're likely far enough in the game to be okay getting some more diamonds.)
If you think it's truly OP, what if it was just a 5% increase per level (so maximum 25% more common diamonds)?
So with this enchantment every time I mine a block the game will decide whether or not I get diamonds? Why would I need an enchantment to find more diamonds when I have an enchantment that makes diamond ore drop more diamonds... and a nearly infinite world to find diamonds in. Also as other have stated this would just be OP as finding diamonds 50% more often would ruin the point of diamonds being rare. While this idea was nice as a little showcase of what you could do with command blocks by SethBling, this is a feature that would make the game unbalanced. Especially when nearly every other time I mine a block I am going to find a diamond vein. NO SUPPORT
The numbers were just arbitrary and spontaneous choices. The suggestion isn't the 10%-per-level, just the overall idea of increased diamond finding per level. It doesn't have to be quite as...erm..."game breaking" as that.
Also, 50% more common doesn't mean you'll find a diamond vein 50% of the time. Diamonds naturally spawn at about 3 ores per chunk, all below Y=16. A chunk is 16x16, so that's about 4096 blocks, which on average contain 3 diamond ore, leading to a natural spawn rate of 0.0732%. A 50% increase would up that to an average of 4.5 ores per chunk, bringing it up to about 0.11% effective spawn rate. That's still far less than the 50% spawn rate required to find diamonds every other block. In fact, now that I've done the math, I feel like perhaps 50% is too weak and would be barely noticeable...maybe it should even be higher, like 200% max increase (which would be 9 ore per chunk, or an effective 0.2% spawn rate).
This just seems OP to me, as rabbits aren't exactly rare... Enchantments only require 5 diamonds, then it suddenly becomes easier to get diamonds? This seems a tad OP to me.
Maybe the rabbit itself isn't that rare, but the rabbit's foot is rare.

Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!
This is extremely OP, since it would make finding diamonds easier.Perhaps if it were to drop more than one by chance would be fine. But that would only make the Fortune enchantment redundant.
The lucky rabbit's foot would be better suited for something else. It's both overpowered and really weird for something like this to... alter ore generation? The Fortune enchantment already gives us more diamonds upon finding them.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
This would be quite on the over power side of thing, for one simple reason. Rabbits are everywhere, and with a looting sword it would not be that difficult to get a rabbit's foot. = OP
Sorry, but no support on this idea.

Indeed it is. But in my opinion at least, if it is not in the suggestion itself, the original post, then I will not take time to read through all the comments to find it.
OT: As I said above, add it to the OP for people coming on to this post now.

This would never work since all the blocks are already generated.
I do not like a suggestion that changes blocks while I mine.
You could setup a stone generator and just mine diamonds for days
