i made a sugestion in another thread for a mob, cant deside what name to give it, troll or golem.
basicly its ment to be very hard to kill, and easy to be killed (if your unskilled) and drops ores and gems on death.
a tank that drops ores and gems.
A new mob called
troll or golem.
hearts: about 60 or 70. maybe up to 100. if only the game could code numbers higher then 64 that is...
damage: very high, about 5 or 6 for its melee and about 4 for its ranged attack.
drops: ores and gems ( ). killing this beast will not be easy but the reward is well worth it.
size: 3x3x3 blocks.
move speed: medium-slow.
it will be a large slowish moving aggressive mob with very high hp, and looks as though it’s a humanoid made of stone.
being so large and slow you would think using a bow and arrow with be very effective, but what will sticks with a small rock on them going to do to rocks with large rocks on them? aka arrows deal half damage (1 heart).
on the same note picks deal extra damage, more then an axe, but less then a sword.
when it attacks it stops walking and tries’s to turn you in to pancakes with its huge rocky fists. the thing about this attack is that it has range (2 or 3 blocks) and AOE (2 blocks), making it hard to avoid, but the AI aims at the ground your on, not your self, so if you see it trying to make you go splat, you can run back/sideways to avoid it.
also, this thing is so strong that it can beat up blocks up to cobblestone (inclueding cacti), if its trying to chase you but a wall is in-between you and it, it will try to remove said wall.
but its size means that will take a bit of time because it only breaks a small amount of blocks each hit (so no, it’s not a that lives after each blast)
beeing a thing made largely of rock, it sinks in water and lava (dealing damage like normal). but it can jump a step in water/lava, just cant float like a player or zombie can.
at a distance the troll/golem might pick up rocks and throw them at you (but he much prefers close combat), dealing large damage but is easy to avoid.
Your golem suggestion sounds like a good idea to me, but I'm going to post it in the submission thread, because I want to keep all the ideas together.
And for people who are wondering when I am updating the master list in the thread, I am working on it right now, should be updated in about five minutes.

GentlemanMudkip, still can't tell whether your suggestion is completely serious, but I added it to the submission thread, and added it to the master list in this thread.
Just updated the OP. I am now going to try and focus the discussion a bit more and what holes need to be filled in Minecraft (in your opinion). Basically post the types of mobs you want to see, and also include mob ideas from the submission thread that you think would satisfy this need.
Read the new OP for more information, the new stuff is all in red.

I think we badly need some controllable mounts. It may be really annoying when you want to cross large distances, because :
a) Railways are too expensive, and sometimes may fail [even boosted Minecarts might stop]
:cool.gif: Boats - waters aren't sometimes too deep to make it safe to sail through
c) no way of flying yet :tongue.gif:
d) Pigs - well, they're not that intelligent to take you to your outpost tower
So...Maybe my Green Reptile may help? :tongue.gif:
Or...For some reason Buffalos and Llamas may also be good enough.
this is what the salamander would be for, and a few other added benifites

I agree with the idea behind controllable mounts, but I think the salamander idea is a bit too complex. I love the concept behind it but I feel like it could be streamlined a lot. Maybe after taming it you would just left click it and it would change from follow mode, to stay mode, and then you would just left click it again to change it back to follow mode. You could ride it by right clicking it. I like the idea behind all the extra skills too, but they seem just a bit too complex for minecraft. I do think you should have to feed it everyday, and maybe it's eyes would start to fade again unless you kept it fed.
As for what I think is needed in Minecraft, I also want controllable mounts, but I think we also really need some rarer mobs that are more difficult to fight. Mobs that are not quite as common as all of the we see running around. That's why I invented my nightcrawler mob, but I think that any mob that is not common would work.
The other mob I think that is necessary is a sort of boss-like monster that you could choose to fight. The fight would be very difficult, and you would have to prepare extensively for it. This is why I invented my elephentine mob idea, although the idea could still be fleshed out a bit. There are also some excellent ideas in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=139509
I asked them if I could post their ideas here to, and hopefully these can be added to our master list of ideas.
Well, that's what I think, controllable mounts, uncommon/rare mobs, and difficult boss-like mobs should all be added. What do you guys think of these ideas?

thay all have 10 hearts.
thay all (besdsides the creper) deal small hits fast.
thay are all as comon as each other.
thay all can be killed and avoided in basicly the same way.
basicly, insted of the nightly ordeal, everyone and a while you may find your self faceing something a bit stronger. or something more intresting.
if i ran in to my golem one night that would be an intresting night i bet!
random mod ideas.
i have no idea what to call it. or what it will look like.
basic facts, its easy to kill(7ish hearts), does little damage(1heart, zombie speed), but can jump huge heights (up to 10 blocks about) and has wall climbing abilitys (it cant climb up/down/left/right a wall, but it can latch on to jump again)
it has a 50% imuneity to all fall damage.
reason: something that can get past many forms of defence, but is not too much of a problem if it does (unless in numbers).
snake.
a slightly rare mob thats 1 (blocks) high, 1 wide, and 3 or 4 long. its ai is to hide and try around 2 or 3 attacks then slither away. but not far away, it waits till it can poison you again.
each attack deals half a heart, but it poisons you dealing damage over time, like fire (but slower).
it might drop a poision sack that can be added to weapons.
why? cos there needs to be poison in ther game at some point.
eel.
like a snake, but not poisions, and lives underwater.
why? cos this game needs an agresive water mob. curently diveing in to a deep enough pool keeps you safe from anything a mob can throw at you.

I am a Brony - grown up fan of My Little Pony. If your ok with this, im ok with you. If your Not ok with this, im still ok with you.
In fact, if you dont like Bronies or the show, im happy to discuss it with you.
Finally got around to updating the master list again, yay!
Anyways, it seems like mobs that provide more challenging and interesting combats are the most wanted so far, but I think I will make a poll.
What do you think of these as poll options:
What type of mob would you like to see a new mob be?
Mobs that are ridable and controllable
Biome-specific mobs
More peaceful mobs
More aggressive mobs
More uncommon mobs
More nether mobs
Flying mobs
Water mobs
Powerful boss-like mobs
Other (please post)
I'm thinking those would be the poll options, what do you think of them? Let me know if I should add or take away any options, and why.
Also, I think I will make the poll a two-option poll, so people can vote for the two types of mobs they want most.

Okay, I've been away from the forums for a while, but I'm back, and I just updated the master list (finally).
I'm glad to see that submissions keep coming in, but we really need more posts in this discussion thread. I'd like to set up a poll, but I want some other opinions on what it should be on first.
Please, keep posting your opinions here, and tell me what should be in a poll!

First, make a poll of all of the creatures. If you were there to see GreyAcumen's "2x2 Crafting" ideas, he had several polls involving which were the best ideas.
Poll 1- "Which of these should be implemented?"
Have at least 10 choices.
Poll 2- "Which of these should be implemented?"
Have at least 10 choices.
Poll 3- "Which of these should be implemented?"
Have at least 10 choices.
Do this until all the ideas are covered. Before setting up the next poll, mark the TOP 3 of EACH of the polls, then have a poll with those ideas in it.
Perhaps you can take the final three and make it into a GetDiscussion topic, then. Some talented person could try and make decent graphics for the creatures.

Honestly, I like a variety of mobs. The natural animal mobs are rather annoying though, knowing about the mod with an absurd amount of the animals listed. I'd definitely lean in favor of the more uncommon/unnatural/mystical mobs that have an underlying benefit to having them added.
As for the poll, take out the "more" from the options, because it's just not really needed and flows better without it.
Plus, some of those options are splicing many of the mobs suggested.
Like the Treefolk idea I posted, it's neutral and uncommon/rare.
The way you should conduct this is by splitting up the ideas into three starting polls: One peaceful, one neutral, and one aggressive. instead of having a category separation, which would pull some mobs away and completely avoid some really cool mob ideas surrounded by really pointless and overall dumb mob ideas, you should just list the entries of that type of mob.
Under Agressive, you'd have hellhounds, devil, alpha creepers, herobrine, etc.
Under Neutral, blahdie blah blah
Under Passive, more of the same.
Ya get what I'm thinkin'?
Also, I'm backing my ideas 100% I love them as if they were my own children.
COME ON NOW?! No posts for four days?! What happened?!
SHAMELESS BUMP FOR JUSTICE!
I know, it's sad, the suggestion thread is still alive, it just seems like no one wants to discuss mob ideas. Oh well, sometime in the next couple of days I'll finally make a poll, and hopefully that will get people to check it out again.

definitely not a fan of Bechorath's super expansive "I LOVE ANIMALS!" post of ideas... especially when they're not detailed at all which defeats many of the underlying purposes of these threads. More info is required, so Bechorath, please put some effort into the individual aspects before trying to fill your minecraft world with all of your stuffed animals.
Golem would make much more sense than Troll.
