In my suggestion, a redstone silencer is crafted with 8 pieces of redstone dust around a note block. When activated by redstone, it mutes all redstone within a set radius. You mine it as fast as you would mine a note block. This is good for adventure maps, where you might hear pistons/any other redstone contraption outside the play area; this item will fix it.

Yay! Another thing to make redstone building even more complicated!
No.
Adding one thing to a redstone circuit to take away sounds... is... complicated?
Sure, support for the most part.

Great way of cancelling out redstone noises! Support!

Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!

Okay how about ridiculously convoluted and expensive object (at least considering what it does) that should just be a setting in the settings?
No support, it should just be a setting to turn it down or off.
If they added the option to turn the sound of any blocks having to do with redstone off in the settings, then they would have to rename the "Blocks" option n the sounds to "Any Block That Has Nothing To Do With Redstone", which would be pretty ridiculous... also, for reducing the pain and stress that can come with these redstone sounds, 8 wooden planks and 9 redstone dust isn't that expensive, especially considering the many things that stress can cause:

Because that is what this is. It is a setting. Different sound settings have been in games for at least 3 decades. Why waste a block ID, add clutter to the Creative menu and inventories, make redstone circuits (slightly) more complex and waste processing power detecting blocks within a certain radius (each one means a little more resource usage and a little bit of a slower game), for something that would be much more useful as a setting that is more versatile and easier to use, or at the very least a command to disable sounds in a set radius which would do what this does but be way easier to use.

True not expensive. But unneccesary and ridiculous. Also, why not "Redstone Blocks" and "Normal Blocks"?

Really? Stress causes none of those things? How do you know that? Are you a doctor? Okay, maybe I exaggerated about the sounds causing such stress, and saying "Redstone Blocks" would imply that it's a separate option made JUST to toggle the sounds of the Block of Redstone, but stress can cause all, or at least, some of those things, depending on the level of stress.

My point was that while stress can cause some or even all of those things, nobody started smoking or had increased risk of heart attack or anything because of piston sounds in Minecraft. That is besides the point as putting it as a setting would prevent all of that as well (in an easier to use and more functional way). And nobody is going to think it only applies to Redstone Blocks because they don't really make any sounds. It is pretty basic logic that it means redstone-based objects and most people won't get confused by that. Unless people also think that gas engines are engines that are made of solid gasoline. Or that semiconductors are people who only kind of instruct orchestras how to play their music. Speaking of stress, one thing that keeps my stress level down is the knowledge that most people don't think like that.
But either way it doesn't matter. The odds of anything suggested here being added are miniscule and none of our suggestions really matter much, so no point in arguing over it. This is just for fun after all.

Having a setting for it is much easier, plus if I don't want my Redstone silent, I can change the volume of it, which this block lacks the ability to. Would you like to have a separate block to make mobs quiet?
Well then, if a map has heavy redstone then there'd be a rule in the beginning of the map saying "Turn redstone sounds all the way down".

No.
How is this even remotely complicated, except for an eight year old?

This isn't complicated, by any means. Power the block, set the radius, and you're done.
Anyways, redstone noises are quite annoying, and they'll be especially frequent if you're building one of the bigger machines; support.
