This is quite a useless feature. Mostly seeing that if you want to 'unlock' a crafting recipe for say a diamond sword, you can't jump straight to making one without getting all your resources and completing a few achievements beforehand. So this makes the unlocked recipe pointless.
This also doesn't add a use for achievements, just locked recipes which can only be unlocked via completing an achievement.
Maybe a way to view the available recipes could be useful.
But, locking recipes until a certain achievement is met has some problems.
For instance, if I never cut down any wood or made a crafting table, but instead found a village and just stole (or borrowed) theirs, would I not be able to make wooden tools?
To me, forcing users to complete achievements would railroad the gameplay un-necessarily. Minecraft is about freedom to play how you want, not being forced down a specific upgrade path like so many other games.
Locking recipes until you get an achievement? Useless. When I make a new world I do everything in my power not to make useless wooden tools, skipping straight to stone or iron by making creepers blow-up stone or finding some in chests. This would force me to make them. Then I couldn't breed animals until I kill a cow or horse. What if I can't find one? Then I'm stuck eating bread until I get the "Cow Tipper" achievement by walking off into the wilderness and murdering the first cow or horse I find. I thought making achievements give small amounts EXP would be nice for each world, but not this.
you all have a good point so i edited the op so now you can craft anything you want without getting achievements
and thanks for your replies
Still, I see no reason for them to be needed to be unlocked. Besides, the new players is a smaller group, and, if they got MC, they have internet.
