Pretty much just what it says in the title. Like how wither skulls are placed from dispensers, all other blocks would be too. That way, no new machines need to be added for placing blocks! (Sorry if this post is kinda bad looking, I'm making it from my phone. I may fix it up later...)

GENERATION 20: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig and add 1 to the generation.
its a bucket fill in-depth commentary on modern consumerism's over-exploitation of positive human emotion via minimalistic figures seated in a retro-aesthetic.
It's "jum bo dee es six tee for", NOT "jum bods six tee for" or "jum bo dee es six for". What the heck is a jumbod, anyway?
I too would like to see more items work in dispensers but doing so would create a horrible imbalance. They would need to change the crafting recipe or add new variations to perform different tasks. The main thing I want to see is being able to feed animals for an auto breeder machine. Planting seeds, taters, and carrots in tilled soil would be awesome too.

I'm not sure I see what you mean. A horrible imbalance with droppers? Them becoming over-powered compared to how easy it is to obtai the crafting materials?
On your second statement, maybe dispensers would just perform the right-click action for the item (except for tools and swords, as their main use is done throuh left-clicking). Considering that automatically moving flying machines have been created, having dispensers able to use pickaxes to mine blocks would enable the creation of automatic drillers... wow
EDIT: And they would not consume food/potions, obviously. Maybe it could act like armor does now and feed the item to a nearby player after a few seconds?

This will never be implemented into the game... Doing this would allow for automatic farming which Mojang has stated many times will not be possible. Although I think it'd be nice to see something like this, it won't happen.
Also, I agree with Hidiety that they'd have to rebalance droppers. The ability to automatically place blocks should come at a high resource cost... and cobblestone and a piece of redstone really doesn't represent that.
Sorry, no support. This may result in mob farms being too easy, and ways to trap people who can't get anywhere. Though, maybe it can't place those hard blocks.

It would be nice, just have one new block that does the placing, and keep dispensers the same.
Let dispensers place!

No support. Someone could trap someone in an ever replenishing obsidian cage. Also Mojang has said automation is not in the future for Minecraft.
