Enter the amount of time you want the command block to delay for and if it uses ticks or seconds, then power it:
/wait [amount][t/s]
Putting a "t" right after the amount tells the command block to wait in ticks, and putting an "s" tells the command block to wait in seconds.
After it's powered and it waits the allotted time, the command block will give out a comparator signal for 1 second before turning off again: ( This ensures the command block can be used in a repeating redstone circuit without locking up.)
Why it's helpful:
Say you want an 11 second delay for a redstone device you're working on. You could do this:
Or you could do this: (/wait 11s)
Along with that, if you use ticks instead of seconds, you can make extremely precise timing. (Down to 1/20th of a second.)

Support. This will be extremely useful to me since I do a timing mechanism in my Hide and Seek minigame. Is the time in ticks or seconds? You should add an option for both.
I don't think the seconds are neccesary. Nothing else in the game really thinks in seconds, it is all done with ticks. You can just multiply the seconds by 20 and you get the tick value.
Other than that, full support. It is hard to find compact timers for most of the amounts of delay I want so I end up using huge strings of repeaters which take up way too much space.

Yeah, but it's not hard to make something check if there is a "s" next to it, and if there is one, just multiply it by 20.
Or maybe just /wait 10 for to ticks, and /wait 10s for 10 seconds (200 ticks). This is basically how /xp works (the above user mentioned it). "/xp 5 [PlayerNameHere] " adds 5 xp points, and "/xp 5L [PlayerNameHere]" adds 5 levels. This is even simpler. The above user may have been suggesting this. If so, sorry, I wasn't exactly sure what they meant regarding this.

This sounds like an excellent idea, and for easiness, I think that it should be ticks if you leave the t/s bit blank, and also make it work if you type ticks or seconds as well. That would help for the /help command.
I was thinking about that, something like this:
/wait [amount]s
or:
/wait [amount]t
So this would be ticks:
/wait 10t
And this would be seconds:
/wait 10s
I'm going to add that right now.
I support this 100%.
This is actully one of the best ideas I've seen.
Very usefull over redstoners.
Lets hope Microsoft adds this.
Kind Regards,
Nickolay
Other than that,
Full support.
Done!

Exactly.

I guess I support this just for the reason to have less redstone on maps to make them lag less.

So basically, I'm stupid.
Inconceivably full support.
Eccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
There are 20. Take a look at the Wiki.
Also, I made a change. (t & s are next to each other again.)
If you are talking game ticks the yes 20 but I was talking about redstone ticks since that is what the command would be used for unless I am mistaken
