Wow, long time no see Minecraft Forum! Anyways ever since I've been watching Sethbling make the most insane redstone contraptions on Youtube It had me wanting to experiment with Redstone more. Right now I was working on making a Control Point, which I had an exact Idea of what I wanted. However, while it looked good on paper, it didn't work out. Turns out that when you block a Repeater it maintains the on connection (as designed), however what if you can terminate any connection regardless of it being blocked or not?
End Torch and Block; Hold the line!
(Above Recipie crafts 3 End Torches)
These torches will completely terminate any connection nearby no matter the strength. The Torch will emit a glow visible for only 1 block and will appear Maroon. It will work similarly to a Redstone Torch except it terminates connections.
Essentially the same as the End Torch, except it's in a much more malleable block form! So it can be pushed by Pistons.
The Torch and Blocks only cancel the signal on the redstone wire it's attatched to. It can also cut the transmissions from a comparacter and a repeater as long as the torch/block is right next to the wire/repeater/comparacter.
Redstone Breaker; Fight the power, with power!
(Replace the Torch with an End Torch)
The Breaker works much like how a Comparacter handles how it emits signals. When powered, it will completely cut a connection coming from any powered source, however in it's alternative mode, it will only cut as much power compared to the strength of the signal powering it.
/Terminate Command; Cutting the cables!
Simply type in /terminate to cut all redstone signals (in a radius) for a duration (standard duration is 30 seconds).
That's all folks! This is all I really got for now, and honestly, I have no other Ideas to make this more functional than it already is.
B ) A feature that requires using commands in (i'm assuming) survival?... thats extremely impractical.
Three) Again, why? I see literally no purpose for this.
1) If you read it carefully, it would allow you to terminate any redstone connection nearby the torch/block completely cutting it off entirely.
2) It's not necessarily for survival, it's for command blocks, but can be used by a host/player to temporarily stop any redstone signals or emissions, having several uses for mapmaking and SMP.
3) There is a purpose for everything in minecraft, however there is no way to cut a redstone signal without the use of pistons and/or any other block being completely necessary for one kind of trap to work. Simply put, the End Torch and Block provide those means.
Maybe if you're not into redstone wiring and other such, you can't really grasp the purpose of using these items.
So what it does is just cancel out all redstone charge? Could I get a diagram or something that shows exactly how and where it would have to be placed to do what you're describing?
I'll probably have to describe it better eventually, but basically it cancels a nearby signal. So an end torch will only cancel the transmission on the nearest redstone wire/repeater/comparacter. The command will cut all redstone transmission for 30 seconds by default, however it can be modified to only cut transmissions in a certain radius and for a longer/shorter duration.
If you find no need for it then give me an actual reason.
The repeaters aren't stuck in a loop, it's the fact that they need to be locked in order to maintain connection, a slow decay of repeater progress. I've become more avid with redstone recently and this is a feature that allows you to basically choose when to disable a connection without having to wire circuits to incorperate a piston or another contraption.
A more self sufficent cutting circuit. Which is an actual feature in electronics.
Perhaps it would help your case if you could give clear examples of specific circuits that can be made with these new components (and how these are relevant improvements to the current system). As it currently stands, I really see no added value here (prove us wrong!).
I'll see what I can do as far as more elaborate explanations, but I don't have an easier example for now. The best example I can give you right now is that it's kinda like a circuit breaker, it cuts a connection in a certain circuit so that circuit doesn't run at that instance.
It's also hard to think of examples for blocks, so it'll take some time, perahps there are other people who can explain how this will be useful. Hopefully their replies are more constructive.

You can have a retractable block that makes a circuit incomplete, which would have the same function as this. Other than the command, which can be replaced by a /fill command replacing active redstone with inactive redstone, I see no point in this. Yes it would allow for easier circuits, but it is not useful enough to be an entire feature.
Alrighty then. Might as well let this suggestion die since nobody thinks it has any use, obviously nobody seens any potential in this item or has any other ideas to contribute to it so, it is what it is.

I'm fairly sure it has a use, but since I'm not a redstone engineer I'd need help figuring it out. Perhaps simplifying your original post and putting diagrams or explaining it more clearly would help people understand. I've found that it also helps to actually list places in which it could be useful, especially when it isn't obvious.

This is just technical minded me, but I believe this could have potential. Having termination torches doesn't quite seem to fit in vanilla, but the command could work great. The two situations this could be useful in are
A) Maintenance. Is there a ton of server lag from a troll clock? Have an admin terminate it! Shutting down the server and need to prevent any disturbances (maybe your computer is ancient, idk)? Terminate teh redstones!
B ) However impractical wars fought with just redstone and command blocks are, this would work amazingly in such context. With a press of a button, you could render your opponent defenseless (this would be suicidal if you couldn't provide a radius and you didn't have a manual TNT cannon)
That's my argument. Support!

Why have I been gone so long? My interwebs are broken and I'm sick. Yay.

So why isn't this suggestion about compact AND gates then?
Just because the OP has not come up with the use does not mean the use does not exist. I can envision some situations in which this would be useful, and it doesn't seem overly expensive. It especially helps with small spaces in which you have excess charge (which is pretty much every time you have small spaces). Why are you penalizing the OP's suggestion for not including/accounting for what seems obvious to you? Support for a suggestion can be for any reason, not just for those outlined clearly in the original post.

I think the command could be useful but what if someone has a clock-based mechanism or serial data transmitters, which rely on the timing. You could really break things if you aren't careful.
