Community: Hey look! A thread with no comments! Lets leave it empty and let it die without even giving any thoughts! 2 days later: Me: What the... where's the thread.... oh page 10
Other notes:
> If you make a banner that doesn't link back to your thread, I'll hate you a little.
> Stop suggesting: lighted torch holding, retarded bosses, new dimensions, thirst, natural disasters.
> If you don't support a gun thread because it is "OP" and "unfitting" when it clearly isn't, (eg that musket thread), I will hunt you, and I will absorb your life essence.
Personally I don't think it should do damage at all. You know why? It shouldn't be a defense mob. It should be a scout mob. Like the votes and thread state, they should just be able to locate chests and get items for you, and the only mob it should fight are spiders. And yes ocelots should eat them. Duh. The shoulder thing I can see how it's useful so yes. So basically. A scout. Either way I support since most of the things here are choice.
Taming changes their color, cheese to tame them, and they attack, can kill, and "eat" Cave Spiders, ENDER MITES, And Silver Fish! And they may even be able to attack and kill bats too!
Also able to scout and find cave spider nests, dungeons, ender portal blocks, chests, minecarts, ender mite spawn points, silver fish spawn points, shulkers, ocelots, bats, and emeralds.
They would NOT be too good in a fight against anything else really so fighting bugs would be a good use for them as well as scouting.
And by "eat" it may not do anything unless these types of mobs drop some form of consumable item the Rodent may be able to eat... so for now... it "eating" these other mobs would be in name and animation only... basically it is naturally pre-disposed to attack these creatures automatically in the wild. Tame ones are best suited to combating these mobs specifically as they deal the most damage to them than they would to other creatures including players.
They could ACTUALLY eat seeds, carrots, potatoes, POISONOUS POTATOES (would give a use for those finally), wheat, sugar, pumpkin pie, cake, hay bales (would break into multiple pieces with one missing from a full bale), mushroom soup, cocoa beans, cacti, bones, and flowers.
Wild or tame ones could chew up and be able to destroy (and/or eat) feathers, iron bars, chests, hay bales (would eat one piece of it and the rest would drop as wheat bundles), flint, tools, arrows, bows, anything made of wood or sticks, anything made of iron (except iron ingots), red stone (IRL mice chew through wires all the time), cocoa pods, cacti, flowers, bones, and sponge.
Would be able to dig through dirt, coarse dirt, gravel, and sand... when it digs it destroys the block it is digging in to... if it digs into gravel or sand it destroys the sand or gravel block it digs into and can die if the blocks above fall on it... however if a block does fall on it and it is suffocating it can dig itself out to try and not die.
Rats and mice are EXTREMELY resilient against fall damage and drowning IRL... so it could have an air bubble counter 4 times longer than an unboosted player... and it's suffocation stat would be the same... rats and mice can hold their breath for a VERY long time... so they would need to be able to not die from suffocation unless they get suffocated a BUNCH all in a row... like if it digs up into like... 10 or 20 stacked blocks of sand and gravel back to back and keeps getting hit with suffocation damage... THEN it might actually die.
And fall damage should be like... 9 blocks and it does not take damage... higher than that takes normal damage meter like everything else.
They should also be able to swim at the same speed as a player with Depth Strider Boots, and run as fast as a player running at full speed on flat ground.
Never steal from SGT Funyoun... I'll TNT your entire world to bedrock... one blast at a time... while I make you and your Villager mob family watch from the netherworld.
Also, to the rats behavior around players and other rats...
SPAWNING: How many spawn in a specific location at one time...
1 Rat - 5% chance
2 rats - 7% chance
3 Rats - 75% chance
4 rats - 25% chance
5 rats - 50% chance
6+ Rats - 15% chance
Behavior:
Semi-Passive - Passive until you attack it
If you attack a single rat, it auto-spawns 2 more.
For each rat you attack it spawns in 2 more to help defend it.
Rats absolutely HATE cave spiders, endermites, silver fish, and shulkers. - It will automatically attack to kill, on sight, of any of these except shulkers... shulkers will make it dig a hole to get underneath the shulker and try to attack it from below.
These are the behaviors of plain rats.
Then their is the RAT KING.
Always Hostile to the Player.
Always spawns with between 10 and 20 normal rats... within up to 5 blocks away.
All plain rats that spawn with a Rat King are automatically hostile to Players, Passive mobs, and the specific mobs listed above.
King Rat is twice the size of the other rats, stands on its hind legs and looks like it has been to the gym too much and forgot leg day but did chest and arm day.
King rat deals 3 times as much damage as plain rat.
King rat has a tiny crown made of 3 gold nuggets and holds an iron sword.
Iron Sword and gold nuggets have a 3% chance to drop but will ONLY drop one or the other.
Spawn chance of King Rat is 0.0035%
ATTACK STYLE & RANGES:
Will swarm the player and attack when the player is within 12 blocks.
King rat also has VERY good eye sight... will send his army of minion rats to attack any player that attacks the rats in his employ or himself...
... on the note of good eye sight... If the player is within 12 blocks of the king rat and/or any of his spawned in hostile minions and/or the Castle, they will automatically attack the player no matter what... they will ignore all else and go after the player; King Rat AND the plain hostile rats... but if the player stays outside that range and attacks with ranged attacks... the King rat will send his army to attack the player WITHOUT the king rat, (who himself will only move up-to/within 12 blocks of the castle center) if the player is attacking with any ranged attacks from within 32 blocks of the King Rat's castle, the King Rat, and/or the King Rat's minion rats. Meaning the Max range of the King rat is 32 blocks from any of these things listed here.
* Always spawns with a Mossy Cobblestone "Castle" made of Mossy Cobblestone blocks and stairs made to look like a tiny castle.
*CASTLE*:
If you are able to kill the rat king and his minions... (ranged attacks with a bow or potions maybe?)
- The King drops his crown, which breaks on impact with the ground into the 3 gold nuggets it is made out of, and/or his iron sword. (never both)
- The Castle is 3 blocks high total with a 1 block tall "door" that is basically just a spot where there is no block, serves as the door for the rats... so you can walk inside it provided you break the block just above the "door".
- Once inside the Castle there is a double chest built into the floor, a bed, 3 torches, and a trip wire trap that leads to a redstone activated dispenser firing Arrows of Harming.
- The double chest built into the floor holds/can hold diamond armor, diamonds, emeralds, horse armor, a fishing rod, a sword, gold ingots, gold armor, or anything else that might show up in a dungeon, nether, or mineshaft chest.
*** QUEEN RAT*** ~~~ (ULTRA RARE) ~~~
- There is a 0.000001% chance that a QUEEN RAT instead of a King Rat will appear... and a 0.00003% chance that BOTH will appear together.
- A queen rat has all the same exact stats as the King Rat... except it is 15% faster, and any rats (including the King Rat) that spawns with it... will get a 1/2 full heart boost to damage and a 15% increase in movement speed.
- Queen Rat also emits a LINGERING CLOUD of Poison that refreshes every 15-25 seconds and damages the player ONLY while the player is in the cloud. (Same for any other mobs that walk into the cloud except for rats and Witches and any other mobs naturally immune to poison)
- If the Queen Rat BITES the player (or a mob not immune to poison) then it will poison the player (or mob) the same as if a witch has hit the player with a potion of poison and it will persist in the exact same way.

Complete support!!! I understand that they aren't that useful but honestly there are a lot of things that aren't useful in minecraft! Like polar bears, they just walk around and you can't tame them and they only drop fish on a rare occasion. Also the only reason I download mods is so that I can tame more animals and the reason I found this is because I looked up rat mods, but this would be so much better then a mod! I think that maybe they could climb walls like spiders and jump over fences, because as a rat owner I know that they seem to escape everything and maybe even they can pick something up and bring it to you or hold it for you, or they can dig into caves for you (a bit OP but I bet if Mojang did make this happen they would tweak it). Any way I think just how it is right now it would be awesome just like the whole sitting on the shoulder thing. Also one of my rats, Moon, looks like yours! The other is Luna and she is Albino with cream colored splotches, so if that could be one variation it would be so so soooooo coo!! Again I completely support this!
If Mojang doesn't do this then someone should defiantly make this a mod...... I can't I have no idea how to.
One more thing to the people who argue about them being useless, if Mojang actually took this and hopefully would put it into the game then they would fix what they needed to so instead of us arguing over it lets just kindly make suggestions and then the game creators can have the final say! Not trying to be rude or offend anyone!
You kinda only replied 1/3 of my post
