(Just to point out, you do have to open the lunch box to eat the food. So it's not like you right-click the lunch box itself to consume the food.)
Whether or not you have to open it or not is irrelevant, people would still just empty the contents into their inventory. Carrying many lunch boxes full of food.
True.. maybe it could be made of a harder to obtain material? That way it's harder to make one let alone an inventory full. Iron ingots seemed like the most obvious and fitting choice. What other material could be fitting but difficult to obtain?
Introducing a new ore/block just for this makes me think it would be less likely to be added. Although iron ingots are overused in recipes, therefore also making it less likely to be added.
I'll think about it. And maybe someone could suggest a fitting material in the meantime.
this is a great idea but may i suggest Diamond lunch box gold lunch box stone lunch box and a wood lunch box the only difference is how much they store wood would have 2 or 4 stone would have like 6 ect. ect. great idea this along with more food would make minecraft an even more amazing game
And also be able to drink milk from cows with would restore like .5 or 1 hearts more than water
I think if we were to make cups, we should follow the say creation for items that hold liquids such as buckets and bowls.

Same design for all 3 items, just different materials for different uses.
Bucket : Water/Lava Transport
Bowl: Soup/Food creation
Cup: Transport of live replenishing drinkable water
That's possible, but like I said before: the idea was to give bowls more uses.

If you want a harder design do something maybe like this:

Nice diamond handle, with gold lid. Not to simple, yet not too hard.
Good idea, though maybe it should all be gold with the diamond handle? Take iron ingots out entirely!

This could be a good idea, but it still seems easy to make with these materials. Even if the wooden version only allowed you 2-3 storage spaces, people would make quite a few.
Some times just don't need different "levels" of the recipe.
The point of the recipe changing to gold and diamonds is the fear of people mass producing them. If they were easily made with iron (an overused material) people would be lugging around many lunchboxes full of meat and stew!
As for placing them, I don't see a good reason to be able to.
I see what you mean on the 'more precious' metal idea, perhaps just use the original recipie, but use all gold?
The reason I suggest placing them is for decoration [...]
That's understandable. But I get the feeling people will place the lunchboxes throughout their mines/caves. I think that might make the game easier. You're mining a tunnel and hit a cavern. Jump in to explore but run into some spider/skellies. No fear! Head back to your tunnel and you've got food waiting for you!
Seems too easy!

I think iron would be fine, but, gold seems like a good material for making "luxury" items, (watch, extra fast tools etc) So we could use gold?
Or maybe a mix of both?
I think if we were to make cups, we should follow the say creation for items that hold liquids such as buckets and bowls.

I don't think it should be able to be put on the ground.

I assume you're referring to the bowl idea?
Glad someone agrees! :biggrin.gif:
