One Sentence Summary (for discussion thread): A passive dirt digging creature that serves as a destructive nuisance without being an actual threat itself.
Under what conditions does it spawn?: In spawns around or underneath dirt.
Behavior: It can move through the dirt in any direction, destroying the dirt block as it enters it, replacing it with an air block. It will be completely passive and indifferent to the player. It will carve inconvenient trenches in the dirt that the player will have to hope around and could destroy your home if it is made of dirt.
Rarity: Uncommon
Drops: Shovels of various type?
Why should it be implemented in Minecraft?:
It will force players to get into the habit of building a stone foundation for their home or run the risk of having moles dig holes into your floor. Currently the only mob that does any real damage is the creeper and it only does the damage if provoked. The mole will passively cause minor damage and become a pest mob instead of merely a hostile or resource crop. It will give players more uses for dirt as they can us it to fix any trenches the mole has dug out. It would pose a threat to crops, torches simply sitting on dirt as well as rail tracks on dirt . It would completely bypass fences.
Potential domestication: If it were possible to pick up the mole, it could be deployed as a digging machine. When released it will dig in a straight line through dirt for about 10 blocks then go back to being wild.
joke suggestion
Suggested Mob Name: sand worm
Drops: Spice
Why should it be implemented in Minecraft?: The spice MUST flow. Whoever controls the spice controls the universe.
They could have glowing red eyes and come in different colors. Brown, different grays, white, black, whatever. It might vary depending on where they spawn. Their fur may also vary a bit, being well-groomed, matted, or bloody, depending on how many they've killed.
Spawn on overworld only, on grass/snow/sand, in the dark (not caves). Could have a Nether variation.
They would mostly hunt other mobs at night, eating their drops, but running away from any monsters posing a serious threat to them (skeletons and creepers). They'll also have the common sense to avoid fire and lava, but may stay away from torches for the same reason. They may raise their tails and snarl at you, warning you to stay away, only attacking if you come closer than that. Others might simply attack you on sight. One last thing they could do is turn toward the moon and howl on occasion.
Rarity: Somewhat Common
Drops: leather, bones, things they've eaten, meat, maybe fangs for different tools.
Notch has mentioned the idea before, and it would be nice to see an animal with a lot of features beyond simply killing you or being hunted for resources (lame farm animals don't even graze, for pete's sake). I'm not going to talk about taming them, that's best left for another thread.
Health: 5-10 hearts, depending on difficulty.
DEAR LORD! Have none of you guys ever heard of Dr. Zharks Mo' Creatures? You know, only the most popular Minecraft mod EVER.
Although not everyone likes to use mobs. This is just a thread for brainstorming, maybe Lucario envisions wolves differently then Dr. Zharks did.
But btw, I'm pretty sure Notch has stated that he is going to implement wolves.

My BattleCraft Clan:
Check out the Community Empowerment Project, post your mob ideas here:
Well I had made this gigantic post for Mo' creatures, but I thought you guys would appreciate it if I posted it here for those of you not keeping an eye on that thread. My apologies for not following standard mob suggestion format.
What’s updated: Even more animals, included links to the people I got ideas from (wasn’t easy to find them all in this thread!), included the default aggressive mobs I forgot, separated farm animals into individual mobs/pictures
{2nd Big fat post} I'm going to order them by what biome they should spawn in. So, the biomes are rain forest, swamp, seasonal forest, forest, savanna, woods, taiga, desert, grass desert, and tundra.
Group those together in their appropriate larger groups; winter biomes - taiga, tundra; savanna biomes - savanna; Plains (Australia) biomes (was going to group this together with savanna, but I thought the animals should be kept separate) - grass desert (plains); seasonal forest biomes (aka, the normal biome) - seasonal forest; rain forest biomes - rain forest; forest biomes - forest, woods; desert biomes - desert; swamp biomes - swamp
Mobs not to apply: Goblins - would be better saved for mob villages Pigmen - would be better saved for mob villages (model already in game)
For anything that says ‘possible poison’ or something of that nature, I would suggest poison be like a short term fire effect (screen would go a hue of green, and/or your character look a hue of green). Anything that can poison would drop poison sacks, which in turn could be used to make antidotes or to poison your weapons.
One Sentence Summary: A very powerful mob that wanders Arctic biomes.
Physical Description or Picture: Large white bear.
Under what conditions does it spawn: Only in Arctic biomes, day or night it doesn't matter.
Behavior: Hostile
Rarity: semi-rare
Drops: bear hide, this would be used to make armor that is in between leather and iron. It would also give protection from the cold (If that would be implemented)
Why should it be implemented in Minecraft: Make Arctic biomes more dangerous (as it would be tough to kill). As well as add more fun to the game.
Mob Ideas:
Mole:
Spawns in woods and forests and sometimes plains. They tunnel! They can destroy crops easily though.
Ants: Spawn almost everywhere except for cold areas and underwater. They are passive. If you drop something, they will pick it up and drag it to their hill. You could kill it there and get it back or follow it to find the hill. Then you can destroy that.
Bees: Spawns in forests and woods. They buzz around near flowers. If you provoke it, a swarm will chase you. This will also happen if you approach the hive. If you destroy the hive you get honeycomb which can make Wax or Honey.
Leprechaun:
Spawns at the end of a rainbow. Sometimes rainbows appear and if you follow them, some little leprechauns might be there running around. If you attack one, it will drop gold ingots and run off. Do it quick before they all hide.
Elephant:
Spawns in Savannah and sometimes Rainforest biomes. They are Neutral. They will charge at full speed if provoked. They drop ivory.
Bull:
Spawns where cows are. In fact, they are often accompanied by many cows. They will charge at you if you attack one of its cow companions or attack it. They drop leather.
Mummy:
Spawns in the desert at night. They are slow but powerful. They drop Cloth and Bone.
Whale:
Spawns in deep water. Ridable. Drops leather and blubber.
Piranha:
Spawns in water in the rainforest. Often in swarms. Drops fish.
One Sentence Summary (for discussion thread)
a cowardly small traveler, that will drop a random item , and a difficult to kill bodyguard.
Physical Description or Picture
the Merchant looks like a small pitch black dwarf with a snake lower half . This dwarf travels with a large ogre creatures. The merchant is also followed by either a moving chest or pack animal(donkeys, camels,
Under what conditions does it spawn?
any where during the day
Behavior
This mob basically wanders around taking random blocks, The special actions come when the merchant is attacked. The merchant will proceed to run away away from the source of danger. the ogre will then get in between the merchant and the source of danger. If the ogre is killed and the merchant is still alive another ogre will spawn near the merchant. The ogre and merchant will will then become neutral until attacked again. The merchant will also give a random block when it receives a block of any type.
Rarity
rare
Drops
anything excluding blocks that can't be normally obtained.
Why should it be implemented in Minecraft?
The merchant and ogre have a interesting dynamic. one will produce infinite versions of the other if it is still alive. The other will provide safety for it's smaller mob and provide a challenge. also It could be useful to have a mob that can produce blocks for the player. The ogre would need to be a challenge though. maybe some kind boss-like monster with a lot of hp and strength.

Mob name: Alpha Creeper
- This is a creeper that doesn't stop with just one bang!
Description: Twice the size of a normal creeper and twice the health, but with a slight darker green.
Spawn Conditions: spawns the same as a normal creeper in lighting conditions, biome and overworld. Only spawns on difficulty Normal & Hard.
Behavior: When not attacking, it lets out a low fuse hiss as it moves around. When attacking, it will charge full ahead like a bull which will make it miss sometimes. It moves as fast as a spider and if it or a creeper within 20 blocks of it is attacked or accidentally injured, it will attack the source, not excluding other mobs, exploding whenever in range. This gives it an edge that makes it feel like it truly is the alpha of the creepers. Alpha creepers have a 4 explosion limit, with the last being half larger that of a regular explosion.
Rarity: Very Rare, like a spider jockey
Drops: 3-6 sulphur
Why should it be implemented in Minecraft?:
It gives more challenge to the survival aspect and makes for a nice source of sulphur. Other than that, It makes the creepers more realistic to have an alpha leader type somewhere to lead the pack/heard.
[EDIT] thar be a photoshopped pic now!
Very lame paste, and needs more work on the design, but it's a graphic of some sort.

Hey all! I got an idea!
Ancient tree
Should be a passive mob untill attacked, that looks like a tree, but have legs (Like the creeper ones, just a little larger). It should have a face a little higher than hlaf the tree's hight looking somewhat like a creepers just more treeish.
It will move very slowly, mostly just stand still. All trees could have a potential change of turning into a tree if left alone like.. 5-10 minecraft days. Even the "huge" trees could turn into an ancient, just like a (boss) mode.
They would drop
0-5
and
0-4 (Tree saplings)
The fastest and best weapon of choice would be an axe, with the same health as a zombie, or one heart more.
Edit: They would be a melee mob. They move faster when attacked.
Buster :smile.gif:
Very ent-ish! I like the thought, but the idea isn't very nicely fleshed out.

Name: Treefolk
Description: Walking tree mobs.
Physical Description or Picture: It looks like a 5 block tree, but with scarce leaves and twigs sticking out the top and upper back, two long arms that come out from the side making it look slightly larger on the top half than the bottom, and the bottom two wood blocks separate into legs. It's bark color is a tad more faded than regular trees, and it has a face on it's top block that should be similar to this:
Spawning Condition: Should spawn on grass near a forest, in every biome except desert, day or night, in Overworld. Only on difficulty Normal & Hard.
Behavior: They have 20 health like an Alpha Creeper and do melee attacks with 2 points of damage per attack. Moves slowly, and will attack if you come within 10 blocks of it, or start to chop down trees within 20 blocks of it w/o planting a sapling before. They will not attack you if you plant a sapling. Instead, they will become friendly and attack mobs that've targeted their new friend(i.e. you), as long as you plant a sapling after each tree you cut down. They would spawn around another tree faceless and standing still and when someone either attacks them or a nearby tree they wake up with a face and start to move. If you set them on fire they will rush to the nearest water source and attempt to douse the flames by jumping in the water. Also, if they're injured and there's no nearby hostile mobs and they're otherwise not doing anything, they will find a nearby water source and jump in to restore their health and then return to where they were in their forest patch. They make a loud stomping rumble sound as they walk and they also make various whale/elephant-like moans, screeches, and creaking noises similar to those found in this video .
(Added note)Leaves on other trees are transparent to them as they would be extremely hindered if they couldn't pass through them.
Rarity: Very Rare
Drops: 0-4 wooden logs, 0-2 saplings, and 0-2 ent wood
Why should it be implemented in Minecraft?: This would first of all implement ent wood which could be used to make healing armor and burn in a furnace as long as lava(fyi, "ent" is Anglo-Saxon for giant). Second, having Treefolk in some of those big forests would add some more mystical-ness to the game's atmosphere which is always nice.
I personally like this idea.
Suggested Mob Name
bunyip
Physical Description or Picture
the over half is a gorilla and the downer half is like a crokodil and it's are going on for legs
Under what conditions does it spawn?
(darkness or light, specific biome or general, nether or overworld)
savanna, in darkness
Behavior
are aggresive when it see you
Rarity
very rare
Drops
1-5 croccodil claws and ape fur
Why should it be implemented in Minecraft?
for it's cool
One Sentence Summary (for discussion thread): A very rewarding, but very dangerous creature.
Physical Description or Picture: A Pigman cursed to be in eternal fire. It spits fireballs, and if you touch it, you will be on fire. The lore of this creature is pretty much unknown, some think he accidently fell into lava and survived, some think that when he was a little piglet, he accidently got into a Player's fireplace. You must kill it per phases. Like a mega boss or something: Phase 1:
It cannot be damaged naturally, so just repel his fireballs to him. After enough damage taken, he starts to charge an Uber Fireball. At this time, dash to him and slash at him like a freak. If you dealt enough damage to him, he will cancel his Uber Fireball and start Phase 2.. But if you fail... You will die... No matter what armor is on you, you will just die. Phase 2:
He will rise into the sky, and a 5x5 area around you will raise too. You better be careful, you can easily fall if you get to addicted to the fight! Some zombie pigmen will spawn, and they will attack you! Kill the zombie pigman, and do just like in Phase 1. Slash at him like crazy. Phase 3:
Now it's time to die... Well, you're ABOUT to die, 'cause this is the Phase before the finishing Phase! He will disappear, and you will be circled with Zombie Pigmen! Just fight off as long as you can. If you survive long enough, there will be so much Zombie Pigmen that you couldn't survive even if you were a hacker! I mean... Well, you know. So you die, and your respawn in a 9x9x9 box, you got only a wooden sword... And you have to use it using your brain, not your might! 2 ropes will appear, and if you cut the right one, 3 more will appear... And so on... When you finish the fourth set of ropes, you will appear in the place you died, with all your equipment back, and this is where the finishing Phase begins... Finishing Phase:
Now he's giant... 10 times bigger than you. Well, he got stairs around him! If you stay on them for too long, they will fall. So you will have to run as fast as you can on the stairs, and when you reach his head, hit it. After you hit it, you will fall off, but take no fall damage. Then repeat. DO NOTE!!! More times you hit him, more missing stairs will be on the way to the head, even 2 stair gaps! *gasp*, when you defeat him, he will drop LOTS... LOOOOTS of stuff! Have fun with your reward... Until you die.
Under what conditions does it spawn?: Only in Nether. In .
Behavior: Aggressive
Rarity: Ultra Rare
Drops: , , , , and a 0,25% chance to drop 3 .
Why should it be implemented in Minecraft?: 'Cause Minecraft lacks in boss mobs, also i think it's a very nice addition to the game... Mostly, to the Nether.

Rarity: Quite rare in the overworld, during the day spawns anywhere there is grass and light, like an animal, but during the night transforms into the ghast with legs.
What about a minecraft devil? He could live in a hidden castle in the nether. Many ghasts should surround the castle, so it would be hard to get to the devil. If the devil saw you, he would come up and attack. The devil should be extremely hard to defeat, and should be very strong. If defeated, the devil would turn into 3 golden apples, 5 TNT , 2 buckets of lava , 4 gold ingots , and a portal out of the nether. Maybe a new item could be created for the defeat of the Minecraft Devil.
Thats stupid.... Minecraft is randomly generated so it would be stupid to put a castle into the nether.
There COULD be random "dungeons" with minotaurs or another hellish creature inside that is tough to kill. The chests inside would have new items, records, ect. The Mob Spawner would spawn zombie pigmen when placed by the player.
Please don't be so harsh in criticizing. I would say that it would be cool to have some form of pre-created building in the game. Like the idea of villages. But I think that there would still have to be a random part of it, such as room placement. Plus I would like some type of large enemy only found rarely in the nether.
Why do you suggest a devil in minecraft? you need to add more details! the nether is a hell world so it would make sense, but what would he look like? like some dude? or some creep? ?what kind of castle? stone? nether rack? cobble? mossy? obsidian? and if he turns into a portal you had to come in through one? maybe if he dropped a trident or a spear you could use as a weapon? and if he dropped random items there needs to be one type of item dropped at a time! think these things over. your post needs revising.
Spawn : Nether, Underground, Light level of 5, Snow Terrain.
Drops : Dirt, Gunpowder, Flint, Corneas
Cornea Info :
Its basically part of Gazers eye, and It can be crafting into telescopes, binoculars, and magnifying glasses. The cornea can be burned to turn into small fertilizer, which can be placed in your workbench 4 times into large fertilizer.
Craftings :
Telescope :sad.gif: Ya im not that good with telescopes, Sorry!)
Other : The Gazer is a big eye with 4 legs, and will attack you when you attack it. Its not advised to attack it sword only, since it will fire 2 giant purple goo at you that will slow you down and destroys your heart pixel by pixel. You can get out by looking down and beating up the floor and jumping into it and destroying the goo, or you could get out by lighting the goo on fire, but this is not advised.

Mobs not to apply:
Goblins - would be better saved for mob villages
Pigmen - would be better saved for mob villages (model already in game)
For anything that says ‘possible poison’ or something of that nature, I would suggest poison be like a short term fire effect (screen would go a hue of green, and/or your character look a hue of green). Anything that can poison would drop poison sacks, which in turn could be used to make antidotes or to poison your weapons.
PS. Don’t quote this entire monster of a post. Cut the list out or use this link to the post instead! :biggrin.gif:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=150314&p=2364294#p2364294
Drops fish.
merchant and "ogre"
The aether: a cool ice/wind based realm
Goedes : brings even more gems into minecraft in a sensible way.
I want occasional chairs. they have be better than sometimes sofas.
[/EDIT]
NO DRRAGONS!!! *scottish accent*
Very ent-ish! I like the thought, but the idea isn't very nicely fleshed out.
How about learning some grammar?
One Sentence Summary (for discussion thread): A very rewarding, but very dangerous creature.
Physical Description or Picture: A Pigman cursed to be in eternal fire. It spits fireballs, and if you touch it, you will be on fire. The lore of this creature is pretty much unknown, some think he accidently fell into lava and survived, some think that when he was a little piglet, he accidently got into a Player's fireplace. You must kill it per phases. Like a mega boss or something:
Phase 1:
Over complicated much?!
I just updated the discussion thread again, but it needs more posts!!!!
Please, come post some feedback and opinions in the discussion thread!!!!!
The link to it is in the opening post.
Check out the Community Empowerment Project, post your mob ideas here:
That is the best idea ever and I love you.
The Gazer
AI: Neutral
Rarity : Very Common
Ill add more if you want.
We need to keep this thread alive. It's good.
