I love the ability to customize your world that was added in 1.8, but I was disappointed when I saw that you could only have either one or all biomes in a custom world. I would love to be able to choose several biomes for a custom world instead of just one or all. As far as I'm aware, there's currently no way to do this, and I would love to see it added.

that's a great idea full support so you don't have to find seeds or keep creating new worlds to get the biome you want.

Thanks for the support. I was pretty surprised when I saw that this wasn't actually in the game already. I didn't realize how much I wanted it though until I was actually trying to make a world with only the cold biomes today.
Are there any mods that add this sort of thing? I don't think it would be that hard to add, though I'm not a modder.

There is a mod in 1.6.4, partially updated to 1.7. I think it was this one.
I support this completely. I think biomes should have their own page, you can select with biomes you don't want to spawn. Biomes need more than a couple sliders, we need a overhaul.

Let me know if my posts are helpful or if you like them. That's what I'm here for.
I am currently lurking more than I am posting. I haven't gone anywhere.
I think we didn't get that feature because programming wise, it was easier to have that "one or all" biome generation. Yeah sure, support.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!
The problem is that as soon as specific biomes can be chosen, should we also customize their rarity as well as their hugeness?
Even without rarity and hugeness, imagine the quantity of different options which only get more numerous with biome additions, especially when we include stone beach, mesa plateau, Forest Hill M and all the other variations.
I do believe that general biome options (Dry, Wet, Cold, Hot) could be toggled on and off. For example, Somebody may only choose Dry and Cold, which will generally give Hills and Taiga, while Wet, Dry and Hot would give jungles, deserts and swamps.
It is definitely possible to only have some biomes generate, instead of all or none; there is a mod for 1.7 that allows you to do just this, (and much, much more, like actually changing the size of oceans and continents, and getting rid of the pesky climate system for more variety); as many people have said before, if modders can do something then why can't Mojang?
(you can already have more than one biome in some cases; for example, forests generate inside of plains biomes in a similar manner to hills in other biomes, so you'll have them, along with variants like sunflower plains, in an otherwise plains-only world, but that is obviously very restrictive)
At the least, a screen listing each biome and a yes/no option should be added; this would be opened via a button displayed when you select the option to have a select number of biomes (so it would be all, one biome, or several biomes, or perhaps just all/user selected and one) so it doesn't clutter up the main customized settings. It'd also probably be a good idea to forgo the climate system in this case to avoid the complications of using it with variable numbers of biomes, possibly none in a given category. Note that changing the size of individual biomes is very difficult because of the way the biome size is determined; currently, larger biomes (e.g. jungles) simply fill up entire climate zones and otherwise biomes are chosen randomly within each zone so two or more may connect together, so this likely isn't an option.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
