I remember the time when I killed my first ender dragon in survival. Two good words to describe it would be Boring and Easy.
The ender dragon takes too much time flying around aimlessly during the battle. You could just hit it once, then wait a full minute as the dragon takes a lap around the planet. Even if you get hit during the process, you can usually heal back up after eating some food.
I was thinking that the ender dragon should become more difficult. For one, instead of running like a baby, it should attack more aggressively. Also, its attacks should do more damage and knockback. Lastly, the end should have some features included in the XBox and PS versions: iron bars around some of the ender crystals, and ender charges fired from the dragon's mouth. Hopefully these few changes will make it harder to kill a giant dragon than iron armor, an iron sword, and a few potions of strength.
Oh, good then. I guess I'll actually see it happen.
If it wasn't currently being worked on, I wouldn't support the more damage thing. I understand I was slightly underprepared, but because like you said, it's too easy, but sometimes the dragon glitches, and charges at you anyways, despite the fact that you hit it with an arrow, and deals 1/2 of your health in hard mode with iron leggings/chestplate with protection II/III respectively. But, yeah, the dragon still needs an update, and hopefully 1.9 makes it interesting!
This suggestion is not very likely to have any affect as Jeb is already working on the EnderDragon for 1.9
Jeb? Don't you mean Dinnerbone?

Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!

See what happen? You might not know what could be implemented in 1.9 since it has just been announced recently, but you really never know as something might be surprising in the update. Perhaps this update would be add features of the common suggestions people would want to see in the Ender Dragon. Better AI, ability to ride it, etc.

That one would actually be a pretty bad, unbalanced add.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.

I think you should have the ability to ride it after defeating the Ender Dragon, which might become a more challenging task in 1.9. If it does, then that would be fun and balanced.

Balance doesn't always work that way. Making something hard to get doesn't automatically cancel out how powerful or useful something is, because once you have it, it's smooth sailing from there. Powerful "endgame" things in a game that can be played forever is almost always a terrible idea.
I never said it was a good suggestion, but I never said it a bad one.
And if it was implemented, it would be made to be balanced.
There's no doubt Mojang would at least attempt to balance something like that, but I can never see dragon riding working, and I try very hard to find the positives in all kinds of ideas. I can't predict the future, but balanced or not, I still don't see the point in such a thing. We have swiftness potions, ender pearls and horses. Adding a 4th method of transportation where you just fly over everything at that point would be senseless (assuming they'd make it work like that).
Eh, I'm getting ahead of myself here. If Mojang doesn't add dragon riding in 1.9, then... thank god. If they do and balance it perfectly, then... I'll be more than happy to know I was wrong. Kind of a win-win really.

Yeah, making something like that very hard to get does make it balanced. You worked hard for it = you earned it. That's just simple logic.

For real life, not always for video games. I've been part of video game/mod development for over ten years, and what you're saying is one of the most rejected lines of thought. Right between "if it's useful, then just add it!" and "more automatically means better!"
If we're talking about an Enderdragon that can be ridden forever and can just fly over everything and ruin ALL other forms of transportation from that point on in a game that can be played forever, then the idea is still stupid no matter what. If flying the Enderdragon wouldn't be as easy as flying it forever with no effort, then your statement has more stance.

That "simple logic" is a very slippery bar of soap that doesn't just work for everything. In games at least. What you're talking about here is short-term balance, but long-term unbalanced.

Oh great, now I have to get a new computer.

I like how everyone just assumes jen's is the one working on minecraft projects when in reality theres like 5 [maybe more] people working on it
Jen? Jeb. We know there are many people who work on it, Jeb's just the lead developer.
