It makes more sense for wood blewits to use regular mushroom growing mechanics (i.e. if it's dark, wood blewits will occasionally spawn next to other wood blewits) for consistency.
Otherwise, support, although I'd like to see some textures for the default pack's resolution rather than what you have.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
I was bored and decided to try and rewrite the OP as well as incorporate a few ideas;
----------
Mushroom Island Biomes are cool to look at, and are a rare source of Mooshrooms and Mycelium, but other than that, they're just islands where mobs don't spawn. Yes, you may have a infinite source of food (Mushroom Stew) and a safe place for a base, but I think that they could use a few new additions to spruce up the place! New Mushroom(s)! To start things off, I would like to suggest the addition of a new Mushroom, the Wood Blewit. The Wood Blewit is a purple-ish mushroom found on Mushroom islands. It replenishes 2 Hunger () and 1.2 Saturation eaten uncooked, but can be cooked to replenish 5 Hunger () and 9.2 Saturation, which is more Saturation than that given by a Golden Apple!
They don't just spawn on Mushroom Islands though. There is a chance that they can generate in Roofed Forest Biomes, but are 50x rarer than finding a Brown Mushroom. They share the same growth mechanics as other Mushrooms.
Now that we have the Wood Blewit out of the way, I have another suggestion that relates to it. When Wood Blewits are Bonemealed to grow into a Giant Mushroom, their stalks take on a wood-like appearance and hardness. They can be chopped down like trees, and can be Crafted into a purple-ish plank. The leaves of the Mushroom do not decay like normal Giant Mushrooms, and have a chance to drop Wood Blewits when broken.
These generate naturally on Mushroom Islands (and extremely rarely in Roofed Forests), and are a wood-source that fit the overall look and feel of the Mushroom Island Biomes. The trees, when generated or grown, look similar to Acacia Trees in the way the logs 'bend.'
These 'trees' were inspired by the ancient mushrooms that are found by the explorers in Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959).

This is just what I have so far. I know I had a few ideas saved somewhere from the past I need to find, so this may get updated in the future!
That sounds great! I'm kinda terrible at organizing my thoughts, so if you don't mind, can i incorporate that into the original post? Will add this in a spoiler and give credit.

You better be. I did not put my time into this for it not to be used.
