I WANT THIS BLOODY IDEA IMPLEMENTED!!!! :tongue.gif:
On my current SMP server, we have divided up the game into a loose castle-wars/story/rpg kind of game. One of the main factions is in fact, the Denizens of the Nether (the evil guys). Sparing story details, needless to say, we're forced to do this all on the 'normal' world. Bukkit allows you to simulate the Nether and the normal world, so it's not an issue about getting there on SMP. The issue is... why? What point is there going to the Nether? Tons of danger (I'm funny... Ghasts can't even shoot the blind side of a barn, and pigmen are passive -.-)
Yet... I know this will be ignored (the thread). Notch believes his (arguably, horrible) imagination is the defining point of minecraft, so this expansive and amazing update would be too 'out of his realm' to ever consider. I am really beginning to wish he would sell out to a GOOD game company, even if it meant more money just so we can have a bloody game that is driven by people who know what we want, and actually listen to such things... unless you consider Skeletons, Zombies, and Spiders 'innovative and unique' rofl -.-;;
Brimstone sounds like a great block to have in the Nether, however can it explode if you light it on fire (like TNT) or is shock impact enough to cause it to explode?
More or less I see this being a unique interesting hazard to the Nether, but it's not nearly enough to make it enjoyable.
The Nether will take a lot to become legitimately enjoyable. But every good addition is a start.
Plus I lifted that from its own thread, hence the quotes around it.
Brimstone, as it's called now, sounds seriously dangerous. If it is set off by explosions, then it would make sense that it would cause a chain reaction with nearby brimstone. This means that you could have enormous potmarks in hell. Still like the idea, but had to state that.

If it's on ceilings (like glowstone is now), and only explodes upon the impact of falling, it can't very well cause a chain with other brimstone unless you got a bunch to drop at once.
You, my friend. I used to rate creativity from 1 to Notch, You just broke that scale.
HOW DO YOU NOT WORK FOR NOTCH?! HOW COME NOTCH DOESNT WORK FOR YOU?!
It's to bad, this made me want to die for minecraft. Though minecraft doesn't work for me anymore, for some reason, I love this. It's just amazing. Titanium... Not so amazing, but everything else is awesome!!!
Though, a note out to people, try not to get to complicated with the ideas, for Notch might be able to put so many things in the game, soon he wont be able to fit anymore. This is perfectly fine though, it's awesome, like I already said. Though, some of the new mobs sound a little bit over powered...You've also made more mobs than the normal world, which would be odd. But if you can make up mobs like these for the Nether, try making some for the normal one, too. Otherwise, people might be going into the nether portal, destroying their portal while they're in the nether, and move into the nether. Forgetting about the normal world. (Until they die... XD)
But still, epic job, keep it up, best suggestion i've ever seen. The best I could do was a customisable kite (in my forums)
Once again, last time, I love the idea. lol. It would be a shame if something happened to it.

I like that idea, and if it is somehow harvested, you could incorporate it with a redstone trap where when a mob steps on a pressure plate (for example) the brimstone falls from the ceiling and blows them up.

If you decide to severely pockmark your floor.
For harvesting:
"I think there should be some kind of warning. Like, maybe when the player hits it it sparks, and if the player burrows through it it explodes. That way you won't get random why the hell did I just get exploded syndrome that I think would turn off a lot of potential players, myself included.
This block would NOT explode if you use wood tools though because they wouldn't make sparks. That would make this block really useful for building traps or anti-theft walls."
this + aether mod = AWSOME!
these would make the nether cool and make it worth going to again
currently if i go there at all its to get a few stacks of netherrack and slowsand and then never return
This... is... AWESOME!!!! I have a couple idea for the plants.
Sapropype: The plant can be crafted into a dust that can be planted to rise a passive skeleton for alittle bit, or be used underwater to seed coral growth. Or a planted seed can create a nether seed to be used in nether farming, grow yourself some hell bulbs :tongue.gif:
Hellbulbs: Maybe rename "Netherbulbs" for the sake of "hell" not being religiously correct. These can either be hit with an arrow to do a half tnt explosion, or collected my destroying the block beneath it to create a throwable explosive! Seeing that they explode on contact, I can see explosive traps being craftable. (think of a landmine)
:RedShroom:: netherbulb
:wood:: wood
:cobblestone:: cobblestone
:wood:: wooden trap (expendable) :cobblestone:: stone (or nether) trap can be refilled with a new bulb
And for the 2x2 people:

I had two ideas for the saropype and was to lazy to search through all the post here. The first is the same as every other flower; turn it into a dye or use as decoration. Of course the dye would be color dependent. My second suggestion would be to use it as some sort of attractant for mobs like a Venus fly trap uses its nectar. If it was able to be refined you could tip arrows with it to make hostiles ignore you. Of course it would have to make the arrow fade faster than normal ones so you wouldn't be going outside at night shooting twenty of these and not having to worry. You could also use these to draw in animals.
I was thinking, about Sapropype, instead of it fading faster, which would need a whole new series of coding, why not make it so the effects wear off after 10 seconds where then it would revert to a normal arrow. Also, I think it should be named Saprophyte... like the real plant, because if Zurich Antiock hasn't noticed, Notch isn't too keen on twisting the name of something that already exists. Also, maybe a look that is similar to this:

I think the only way you should be able to get hell bulbs is to use a hoe. Then you could use the hell bulb to make exploding arrows. These arrows would be much weaker than regular dynamite but would still cause explosions. To mine these in the over world you would need blocks of netherrack near lava instead of dirt near water. This would make farming them extremely dangerous especially if they lit while in the lava. Suddenly your farm goes up like a meth-lab.
Now with the Hell Bulb, I agree with all of this... but I'd like to make an addition. How's about hell bulb be used to make a throwable explosive. I was thinking of a simple leather and hell bulb 1x2 layout would be perfect for the crafting recipe. It would have to be toned down from a normal TNT explosion to be fair to the TNT item... Let's say half the size of a TNT explosion. The recipe should create a stack of 4.
Another idea is to make grimmwood handles boost durability in tools! The wood planks should also give off cold as well as the logs. Get creative with the wood man! It better have some pretty cool benefits for it to be akin to obsidian other than to make magma tools and a freezer! It should also be very rare to find patches of.. and only i a certain nether-ish biome.
. . .
Seeing as this was for one reason or another wiped from the thread, I figured it needed to be heard.
Also, Take out the F-ing Kitrinite tools! They do nothing! They'll just take up unnecessary space in the item count!
Just to clarify, the creator is making the mod himself, which is pretty amazing (: it's taking him a while, but he's making more ideas at the same time, so I'm perfectly happy with it. He also accomplished something even notch himself said wasn't possible, so I think this guy is doing an amazing job
I'm not making the Mod. Someone else said they would. At this time, there is no official mod being made. If anyone would like to use these ideas to make a mod they can.
Everyone, I have terribly bad news... and yes, I don't blame you for abandoning this thread.
The reason for the delay and for no revamp:
One of my friend's sisters "accidentally" deleted all the notes for the Revamp.
I got a call from my good ol' buddy Chad on friday. He's kind-of like my unofficial note-taker and secretary. We used his laptop for the storage of everything... and we hadn't copied these files to any other source. We didn't really have a problem with doing this until the tragedy that took place on friday. According to him, all of the files for the revamp... the graphics, the notes, the hard work... ALL OF IT IS GONE.
His sister was playing Minecraft on his computer when suddenly she decides to CLEAN UP her brother's desktop... right? It just so happens that she has no concept of how these things work and dumps them all into the recycle-bin. Then she empties it, thinking that it would make his computer run faster.
There is no way for us to recover those files. So... now we have to start from scratch.
Instead of redrawing and writing everything, I think I'm going to revise only some things and call it good. My morale has been shattered and my group is hating me for not copying the files onto a thumb-drive, on thursday. Quite frankly, I don't blame them... I was stupid for not doing it.
Anyways. I'm sorry to have given you this notice late in the game... this has all been very bad timing for me and all of you. And... I don't really know what else to say.
Until we regather our wits... We'll have to take a break from the Thread.
In the mean time, I'm going to fix a few small things here and there. Other than that though. We're just not prepared. No more promises. And thank you all for your generous support and help for the past concepts.

P.S. I give you all full permission to hate me. But if you don't, I am officially all your friend.

Would alter the cause of explosion a bit though.
There's a thread about it here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=87052&p=3013205&hilit=nitronium#p3013205 I just added the post here for a potentially wider audience (and because it fit the topic).
