Wow, read the whole thing, and i LOVE IT! the only thing i could say is that maybe some of the new materials (such as the few that produce diamond like, or never breaking tools) may need to be tweaked if this were to be implemented.

I saw the revamp page and it doesn't look like any issues and points that I made were addressed besides switching it from being invincible durodium to "very strong" durodium.
. . .
Actually I really like the new tools (nice designs), nethershrooms, and armor (skeleton, oh yeah). This must have taken a while to make all of this, I applaud you. This is actually the kind of thread i hope notch eventually sees, it's well deserved. Unlike other suggestion threads, this has got it all!
Name: Dark Wyrm
Description: Looks like a cross between a maggot and a centipede.
Behavior: Spawns in the Nether. Hostile to the player, it lives in and around Lava and Soulsand. They can be found basking along the shoreline of lava lakes.
Rarity: Rare, spawns only in groups of 1-3.
Drops: 0-2 Wyrm Shell. These black wyrm carcasses can be crafted into a lava-resistant boat along with an iron ingot--
(With the coal being the shell, of course)
Special: When it has less than 3 hearts left, it will retreat to the nearest lava pool.
Why should it be implemented in Minecraft?
1. Adds a new mob to the nether
2. A legit way of creating a balanced lava boat
3. Only the second insect-like mob
4. Adds some new behavior to boring mobs.
I am over excited now that there have been so many good suggestions here for nether biomes and mobs. Today, I'm working on getting the post revampped.
I don't have a lot of spare time, but I just want to say that I liked most, if not all of what was posted here. I am getting this all down on notepad for review at our next 'thread' meeting. For now, I will say that everything is taking the Nether Thread into a new and crucial direction. These suggestions are going to turn the Nether Thread into a thread about how to make it "unique to the overworld, not the same as the overworld."
Thank you all so much, and I'm sorry I couldn't be here to put down my opinions.
For now, please keep posting amongst yourselves. As soon as I get a chance to get detailed... I will. Hopefully before the revamp date.
I was thinking, since bones can be made into bonemeal, can we make charred bones (from the nether skeletons) into black ash? the ash could be used as an alternative to black ink.

I once saw a chicken push a creeper off of a cliff. I never looked at chickens the same way ever again. That is of course until I needed feathers.
I think that plants that grow in the Nether won't be able to be fertilized with normal Bonemeal. Instead, we could have to use Charred Bonemeal/Black Ash to fertilize Grimwood etc.
Also, my biome suggestion.
Glowdesert
Not very common biome, but once found, it can be quite big.
Glowdeserts are mostly composed of Sand and Glowsand [found in stalagmite-like formations]. Ghasts are mostly rare, Zobmie Pigmen are common. I don't know how about other new mobs, because I don't know them well...
Netherrack is found at local cliffs and under the sands. Soulsand, althrough it's a sand, is not found here.
Ores found include Kitrine, Coal, Iron and rarely Redstone [lol...]
Small lava pools can be sometimes found here.
I like that idea, better than my ideas. :sad.gif: The only thing is I think it should be made completely of Glowsand, not normal Sand.
But the only difference [besides appearance] beetween these ores and overworld ores is the fact that all of these in the Netherrack has to be smelted to obtain material - the only exception is the coal and redstone. :tongue.gif:
Yeah, but either way they will need a name...
Also, maybe in the Hot and Scorchland Biomes there should be little vents that spit out Sulphur.
We need a mob model designer. We'd prefer someone from the forums who has had experience with google sketchup or any other 3d modelling program. Anyone interested in this volunteer position? Some mob example images would greatly enhance our forum.

I think this is a great idea besides the sanctuary and teleportation blocks those seem a little overpowered you could just create a box around your spawn and just teleport to your house and you could just own spiders and zombies with the sanctuary block otherwise this is a really great idea.
i sent notch the link to this thread and he responded so if enough people tell him about it maybe hell see how awesome this is and add something
No! Not yet!
We have to wait until this thread is ready! Gosh dang it, have you heard of jumping the gun?

EDIT
Also, look at that.
Yep. Overworld ores in the Netherrack. If we have to sometimes find normal ores in Nether, then it would be fine to have these in the Netherrack layer, wouldn't it?
I think the charred bonemeal idea is cool. If used on the rooted Netherbulbs, it could make the roots grow.
I like the idea of a "desert area" in the nether, though I'm not particularly fond of finding sand in "lava world." If anything it should be gravel, since that actually comes from lava and is a lot like sand, if a little more hated. Glowsand would be cool to find naturally here, though how common would it be to find? Why wouldn't there be any soulsand, I think soulsand pockets would be great to add as little traps. I think that cskels, nethersouls, imps, netherhounds, and maybe centipedes would make the most sense to be common here (Basically, mobs not associated with caves, fire, or poison). If dragons spawn like normal mobs, then here would be a good place as well. The others would have to be a lot less common. The shape of the land would be similar to the Scorchedland idea I had earlier, since they would both be land they could probably be right next to each other connected.
Also, if overworld ores had to come into the Nether, it probably would make sense that the Nether could just render them differently, like yours.

Cool! Very cool ores. Maybe they could be called Nether Ores?

-Scarecrowman. AKA Zurich, Xurich, etc...
Did you like the mob ideas I posted?
I think one more mob should be added to the nether, which doesn't fly and is hostile.
