you should make this a MOD intill they actually do update this you think you can make this a MOD for us who all want to expirence the nether update plz and thx bro
In my opinion, the Nether doesn't really need new mobs, it's good as it is. Also, the idea for the mini-portals i great, but you'd only have to be able to stack 2 at a time so the networks dont get mixed up. The shrooms are amazing, and so are the poison arrows, but I think it should do a bit less damage, condering it also does the arrow impact damage. Most of the new tools are good too, but the lava hoe wouldn't be very good except to grow Nethershrooms. The magma hoe should be able to till a new dirt block, Helldirt, that Nethershrooms can only grow on. After Helldirt is tilled with a magma hoe (if a magma hoe is used in any way near flammable objects, they will burn) and a Nethershroom planted, it should grow 3 other Nethershrooms, requiring a 2x2 area of Helldirt to farm them. Otherwise, GEM ( ) of an idea!!
I think for the hellbulbs, they should trigger an explosion upon stepping on them, and can be harvested by removing the block underneath them or maybe with a grimwood hoe (That would also give the grimwood hoe a specific use)
Also, when they have been harvested, you said they could be used like TnT, well why not have them throw-able but with reduced aoe explosion, so their not quite as deadly as they normally would be, but you can still throw them to uncover steps in a cave, or at mobs for a quick dispatch enemies, just a thought
Nice idea for the Hellbulbs, the throwning part I mean. A great way for a quick enemy dispatch.
A suggestion for the use of Sapropype could be a lava plant? I mean, if there is fire withing a 3x3 block radius of it, it oozes lava for however long the fire in its range lasts for. Great for lava fall traps. Also, it could be ground into a Glowdye that when used with wool produces a block called Glowwool, which is identical to wool in every way except it glows. Also, if this dye is crafted with any other dye, including inksack/black dye, it produces Glowwool, except it glows the color of the dye crafted with the Glowdye.
Example:
[] [] []
[] = The dye doesn't glow when in hand, though.

i like whole idea why doesnt some one make this a mod for every one to enjoy. for the person who makes this a mod you get 100 and 5 amd 2 and 1 mega lol thx to who ever makes this a mod
OMFG!! this is perfect!!!!!!!!! i dug to the top of the neather in hope of some secret thing.... and maybe the hope of finding a hold to the Void.... yea... i volentarely looked for the void... but any who!!! we need this now! +!!!

I think there should be another banner with the pic of smelting a soft durodium ingot with thermosetite to get a hard durodium ingot with the catchphrase "THE NETHER UPDATE: Smelting ingots with ingots to get ingots!"
You know, I practically live in the Nether right now with minimal stuff even in there at all. This thread is definatly one of my favorite threads in the history of threads. I pretty much like every single idea you put on that extensive list. I read the whole list at least 10 times to absorb the amazingness of it. The Nether right now is a high risk low reward scenario (except for all you peaceful people >.>). I think the Nether SHOULD be dangerous. However, the reward for taking that risk shold be about 30 times better. Ooh glowstone! I can make pretty much the same thing with a Jack o' lantern. And netherrack is not so great either. Hopefully, everything that you have envisioned the Nether to be will make its way into the Minecraft world.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
All people who put signatures are lame...whoops
I LOVE THE NETHER! UPDATE IT PLEASE!
The glowing mushrooms will make really nice decorations! But I don't agree with the magma tools. How can you get glass from digging sand? That is just imbalanced.
Freezing also needs a little change, I like the idea, but I'd like to freeze water into ice blocks, but why not redstone as a power source?
This thread is great considering the limited resources in the nether world :ohmy.gif:
Hellbulb Idea
They will explode if destroyed with anything other than a hoe..
Fire and redstone will also light them
Breaking one gives you 3 bulbs
Crafting a singular bulbs give you 2 seeds which can be replanted...
Throw the bulb for a small explosion on impact...
MINECRAFT GRENADES
Great for mining as it will make destroying blocks FAST
EDIT
the explode in a 3x3x3 cube
The center of explosion(Block hit also origin of explosion) Has a 100 percent chance to destroy
the 6 directions (Forward backward left right up down) Have a 90 percent chance to be destroyed
The 8 diagonals have a 35 percent chance of being destroyed
This is so the explosion isnt too big but can more than likely let a player through after its impact.. without being too big of an explosion!
Yes. Just yes. This idea is absolutely gorgeous. When notch gave spoilers about the Nether, everybody was psyched. People were farming Obsidian, preparing armor, and tells, amassing cobblestone, and chests, and farming food, to prepare for their adventure into the nether. And when we entered, we were amazed, and terrified. This hellish place, with surprisingly terrifying screeching baby noises(Something I find almost as scary as creepers, though lacking the adorably horrific hug lust.), and groaning pig-zombie hybrids, along with huge flying marshmallows that shot cannon-balls at you. Yes. WE were amazed. And we remained amazed, for a good time. Till the nether became just antoher place. We buitl walls, that Ghasts couldn't shoot through, we murdered the pigmen, to eat their flesh, and tore through the flaming stone of the nether with no mercy, simply making it another home. And thus, we rendered it boring. The Everworld, had once again, became the most fun. We dug tunnels, to be mauled by creatures, where as in the nether, digging tunnels would bring you no harm, but then again, no one mines in the nether, for the is no point. We build contraptions in Overworld, to best the ever retarded zombies, skeletons, and pigs, to harvest their goodies. Yet in the nether, there's nothing to be harvested, sans pigmen, who rarely fall into traps. And once again, the Nether has been rendered boring.
BUT ALAS, we see a light. This man right here, brings us light. Though maybe inspired by the thoughts of other men, it matters not! He brings us new adventures, to be found in the nether. A point to mine, in order to create the glorious magma tools, he brings us a freezer, to make ice, in which we can finally build our castle of ice,(Without hacks) He brings us light sources, so no more dull torches, or lightstone. New glass allows us to be hidden, yet allows others not to be able to hide. He brings us new mobs, to torture, as we all know we're all pretty much sick in the head, and enjoy beating on helpless, blocky creatures.
So I implore you. Support this idea. Let it be known, that this update must go through!
Kay, epic dramatic post over now. In case you haven't figured it out, I bloody love this idea. Like, fersrs. Do it :iapprove:. I DEMAND YOU!

Why not try to make this as a mod? or have someone make it for you (joint venture?)

Someone has already taken up this task. I however hate mods... and would prefer Notch to include it into the game. Not everyone who plays minecraft will be able to use the nether improvements if they are made into a mod only.
Nice. However, I like the original idea for Grimwood a bit better. It should still be craftable all the way to sticks(and have tools), but then sticks can become Grimwood Shards. As was the old idea, Shards can be used for dark torches that absorb and remove light and heat. Note that the torches can be turned on/off via redstone. Also, (again this was in the original idea) Shards are plantable like Saplings, but only on stone, cobblestone, Netherrack, and soul sand. Could it also be changed to not need a Diamond Axe? At least Iron would be fine, as I have never crafted a Diamond Axe in my whole time playing Minecraft. Now, Iron Axes... I've got plenty of those.

Did anyone see this?

Still no replies. I really don't want to have to need a Diamond Axe to harvest Grimwood. Also it needs a way to replant. I'm not going to travel 5 chunks to find more Grimwood if I use up all the trees in my area without a way to replant them.
I approve 95%
Maybe you could make a half human, half glowing mushroom mob?

There have been a lot of questions posed to you and you seem to be ignoring them...
