In biomes like the forest and the taiga there are so many trees that clog up the biome that it is so hard to see what is in front of you.
Leaves and the tree trunks are always blocking the view from you seeing farther than a chunk. I know it's a forest, but that doesn't mean that there needs to be a tree every several blocks! It should be decreased to 2-3 trees per chunk. It's not like we need that much wood anyways!
Eh, I kind of support, but I think about 2-6 per Chunk would be good for me. Heck, you should see real forests, trees are everywhere and only within walking distance.

Yeah, you do have a point, but I doubt mods like 'Big Trees' will be added into Vanilla in order to, well, make Forests better and whatnot.

No thank you. I like having a lot of trees. It makes forests more dangerous because you never know if a Creeper or Skeleton is lurking behind a tree.

Chop trees down, make them bigger yourself. I'd rather be in control of my landscape, rather than some automatic generator making it for me.
Dense forests make for more danger, more difficulty. I'll inevitably have to cut them down for various necessities. Plus there are plenty of forest regions that are not super dense with smaller trees. Just depends on the area.
Yes, but in real forests the trees aren't so short that they block your view!
You've not been in many real forests, have you. The number one reason people get lost is because of tree density blocking view, causing people to get disoriented and walking in the wrong direction.
Yeah you can? Just add onto the tree or bonemeal a bigger tree. Pretty easy.
The tree will decay if you break the leaves. If you think I'll take the time to make taller trees from scratch myself then you must be crazy. And bonemealing will create a tree that is really fat like the Roofed Forest, which I hate.
Well, I definitely take the time to landscape my terrain. My trees are either grown into a certain type by force, blocks added to them for a different look/size, or custom built by myself.. So call me crazy for being creative I guess.
PS It's honestly irrelevant as I'd imagine your OP is mainly geared towards simple exploration. We obviously play different ways so we have completely different thoughts/cares for the way the land generates. I'm thankful for the land itself. As for vegetation, I take control rather than leaving what's there.
I agree that the leaves do get in the way. I mean has anyone ever been in a forest? Most of the trees are bigger than the big oak trees, which are rare as it is. The trees are too short.
But I don't like your idea. I'd rather have most of the trees be a lot taller and closer together to block out sunlight like a real forest, but let you see more than five inches in front of you. It's really the leaves that block your view the most, not the density of the trees.
Its a forest, it should be dense. Though whilst I oppose the suggestion of outright thinning out all forests, I would not be opposed to a more variable density, leading to denser forests but also more sparsely populated forests/areas.
Yeah I'm fine with variable density, but not just making it less dense all the way through.

You can easily thin out a forest with a flint'n'steel.
I wouldn't mind some variation in tree density mind- just not a flat reduction in tree numbers.
- have some really tight clumps where the trees grow slightly taller, but very close together
-some areas of shorter trees, with leaves near ground level
-and yes- a couple of areas which are slightly more open.

The reason trees are short in MInecraft is because they don't fall down like IRL and you only have a limited reach. It would be annoying to have to pillar just to chop down one tree.
And to the OP. No Support. In a real forest trees are everywhere!

No support from me for less dense forests, however I agree that they really block out your view. You can't sprint for long in forests, whereas you often can in real life ones. The main reason for not being able to sprint is the leaf altitude above ground. I would suggest the average tree height being slightly higher for oak trees, because sometimes the space between the ground and the tree's leaves is only one single block. Would this be a viable alternative?

I AM NOT YOUR PERSONAL MINECRAFT MOD SUPPORT AGENT, SO PLEASE DO NOT PM ME ABOUT PROBLEMATIC MODS THAT ARE NOT MINE. If you're having trouble/crashes with a mod, you'll have better luck resolving it in this forum section than PMing me. If you already made a topic, be patient about responses. Having a lot of trees is kind of the point. You have to make those biomes safe by chopping trees. Forests IRL can be dense enough that it is hard to see too far in front. Absolutely utterly no support, this is a terrible idea.

To those of you suggesting new uses for Emeralds in the suggestions forum: Emeralds have enough uses. You can trade with villagers to get diamond armor/tools/weapons and enchants. Stop suggesting that Emeralds are useless, and learn to play Minecraft. Thanks.

I would like varying density and have trees at grow to different heights (not just short and tall, but any height in between).

Forests are supposed to be dense, if you've ever been in one. I wouldn't mind having taller trees though.
