General mobs, mobs that act as commanders for other mobs,
Creeper Warden: Dark Green creeper with red eyes, a horde of creepers follow him, it only attacks if provolked, until it is provolked its eyes are blue, if attacked its eyes turn red and it starts ordering creepers in your direction. until it is attacked, the Warden and all creepers following are passive, when the Warden is killed it drops explosive dust, (better name pls) combine this dust with gravel to make an explosive beacon, this beacon attracts creepers when placed. crafting this beacon into a staff like so
[] []
[] [] [] []
will create a creepr staff, it allows you to direct creepers attracted to you by the beacon.
Pigman Chieftan: A PigMan wearing a feathery headress and golden armor followed by unfathomal ammounts of pigmen, if killed he drops whatever a zombie warden drops (ill get to that later) or he drops a NetherSphere, crafting the netherspher into a staff will make a Netherstaff, that lets you command pigmen and shoot magic spheres that hypnotise mobs, putting them into a daze, with a 1/20 chance of turning them passive.
HIM: HIM is an evil entity that many of you have heard of, HIM may be commanding many many normal mobs of every sort, even noramlly passive mobs with evil abilities (flying squid, flaming boar demons, minotaurs,). or he may even be commanding other general mobs, even Boss mobs, killing HIM causes the game to go black and white, then twist into hell similar to eversion, then it goes to wherever you were prior to HIM spawning
thats all i have time to do now, ill update with more soon
No to creeper staff. No to the him idea. No to Netherstaff. Being able to command mobs would be too complecaticated and overpowered. I like the idea of a creeper horde though.
I don't think the bosses should be incredibly powerful. Fighting off 2 skeletons and a creeper at the same time is fairly hard already. We don't need guys that can only be harmed by certain weapons or have fully automatic bows that light you on fire. Let's try to keep it fairly simple.
I'm kinda thinking of another boss that can be on sea.. like pirates on a ship?
(just making a random suggestion)
The Captain can be the spawner to his crew and driver on the ship (stops spawning if ship destroyed)
Weapons: diamond sword (only able to swing his sword when his ship destroyed!)
Health: 60
Rewards: 5-10 , 15 :GoldBar:, ( and ??)
the Crew (max people 8) Weapons: bows n arrows and iron swords (random select)
Health: about 10 hearts
able to spawn 4 blocks away from captain
The ship: max health- 300
twice as fast as boats we ride in
cant be set on fire
wont break on land (only slows it down/or stops)
Player can board on ship
its like a moving dungeon on a big boat.. idk..
ok its what i can think off right now thats pretty fair. if ya think whats better feel free to adjust my ideas
Zombie Paladin: a zombie that runs around with sparse to full iron armor, since royal paladins were buried in armor WITH their weapons, they hold 2 swords, one in each hand, making his attack rate higher, but since he can only swing with one hand and not two, he does half damage, and alot less knockback
drops: 2-3 iron ingots, maybe a piece or two of his armor, very rare drop includes a ruby used to make a cross, or a whole cross
attacks: Slash: he attempts to slash you repeatedly with both swords
Team slash: he has the other zombies try to gang rape you
Sword throw: very uncommon move, he throws one sword at you, planting in it the ground wherever it lands, leaving him with one sword, doing full damage now that he has both hands
Sword spin: he spins like a top, slicing everything that gets near him, only doing 10% less damage ethen a normal slash
strategy: he will have a group of zombie followers that act like normal zombies but they swarm aroun their leader, but since the Paladin was of royal blood, and was blessed by a priest, he does not burn in sunlight, but instead turns passive, if you nab the ruby he may drop, you can craft a cross like
[] []
[] []
= ruby
the cross has a 1/40 chance of successfully blessing the paladin, if you craft the cross with a bucket of water, you get a bucket of holy water, this holy water, when ingested, has a 1/40 chance of preventing death for 4 nights, and doubles the likelyhood of blessing the paladin. if you take pity on, and successfully bless the dazed, confused, and now passive paladin, there will be a bright flash and he will be freed from the living hell he has suffered, and will become a spirit, he will reward you with a blessed stone, crafting this stone with a pickaxe, sword, or toher tool, creates a blessed tool, with doubles the durability of the tool.
Skeleton Raider the raider leads an army of skeletons, and shoots flaming arrows, once these arrows hit something, they light up the area with 2x less area of a torch, but just as bright, fire arrows will burn things, but at least 4 flaming arrows must be no more than 5 blocks radius away from eachother to create one fire block and set the area alight
Appearence: a gray skeleton wearing a brown leather vest, with a black bow
drops: fire arrow, afterwards you can craft a fire arrow like so
[] []
[] []
[] ]" title="-<->" /> []
this creates one arrow, it has the exact same attributes as the arrow shot by the raider, escept youre the one firing it
attacks: Flame arrow: fires a flame arrow near your position, can be dodged without that much effort
Powder arrow: shoots a lit explosive arrow that has a 1/8 chance of exploding on impact, leaving a 1 block crater
Pelt: the raider lets out a riveting, yet creepy, battle cry and all skeletons fire arrows at you at once, this lasts up to, at max, 4-6 waves of one arrow, shot from each skeleton
Spider Queen This one is a bit different (ill get to HOW shes different later), she commands leigions of spiders, and can cause spiders from underground (like ones spawned in caves, spawners, the like,) to burrow up to the surface, instead of summoning themwith a spell or bringing a set group with her.
appearence: this is wha tmainly makes her different, she isnt some hideously grotesque beast, she is an elegant, beautiful, yet sinister woman in black, purple, and red garb (just dont think Harley Quinn)
Attacks: Venom: she launches a bright green orb at you, if it makes contact, your hearts turn green, but not all of them do, the ones you are going to lose turn green, like so = heart = poisoned heart = missing heart
you can be cured by drinking mushroom soup
Summon venom spider: summons a venomous spider that is pure black with a green hourglass symbol on his back
Summon spider: summons a spider
Summon black widow: summons a deadly, yet extremly slow, venomous black widow, getting bit by a black widow causes your hearts to turn gray, you cannot reclaim a grey heart
bite: if you get unfortuante enought ot get near her, she bites you, causing all your hearts to turn either green or grey, if they turn grey you get one half red heart, bu you are impervious to spider damage after being bit, until cured, since this is the only direct attack the spider queen has, you just have to pray she drops an orb, or you're screwed
drops: a poison orb, combining the poison orb with mushroom soup is the ONLY thing that can cure a grey heart, poison orbs can also be put into a dispenser that fires out a green smoke particle that kills whatever ingests it (possible side-use for cthulu diving helmet?)
1 chunk = 16x16x128= 4 seconds of walking will bring you through a chunk. You probably mean more like 100 or 1000 chunks. And how would the compass point to bosses not loaded yet, in unloaded chunks? The game wouldn't know they were there.
yes, thank you. I was typing quickly and wasn't paying attention. I think something like 500 chunks at least between bosses.

While I like the idea of pirates on a ship, I don't think it makes a good boss. Also, since it doesn't drop anything unique, it would be better to just have some random pirate ships that you can raid if you'd like. I recommend posting this as its own suggestion.

add a slime boss and make it have the following stats
Hmm... I like the idea of a boss slime, but it needs something to set it apart from a very big normal slime. I like the summon idea, but I agree that there shouldn't be a crafting pattern that requires hacked materials. I'm putting something similar on the post.

Great idea. You should add a tree boss found in forests. it looks like a tree with arms legs and a scary face. it drops saplings.
I like the idea of a forest boss. I don't know about an actual tree. And I wouldn't feel the urge to fight a tough boss that only drops saplings.
And I'm also thinking, in response to everyone, that there should be only one boss that has a horde accompanying it. It's a cool idea, but gets old really fast, since the strategy would be the same for all of them.

I am assuming the compass would only point to loaded chunks.
Yes, that's right. I was thinking the boss compass would be a little more like a metal detector: you still have to wander around before it picks anything up.
However, It is theoretically possible to load all the boss lairs before the game even begins. It would make the map look like a bunch of patches. (the nether boss(es) would only be loaded when you first go to the nether.)
You might want to move this to the Mapping and Modding section as a [REQ]; they are more keen on making this stuff. Your idea is well formulated and I like it. Kodiachi_Zero made his Battle Towers mod with a pretty hard boss to beat.
Also, leave crafting out. There would be no point in going to look for a boss just to get something you can craft with easy materials.
Suggestions for a new boss type include:
A giant squid
Something immune to lava, that spawns and swims in (deep?) lava, that shoots fireballs. (lavasharkghast?)
Something that treats dirt (or sand) as water (land shark)
Just some things off the top of my head.
Giant Squid? How about a KRAKEN!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I think Creepers just need a hug. Turn that frown, upside down!

well, the thing is, the cthulu is already exactly (I mean exactly) like what a kraken would be, and a giant squid would be the same thing but freely moving, which would make you have to swim around after it, surfacing every once in a while or drowning. there are only so many tentacles a game can have.
I personally think if minecraft should have bosses,(Which it shouldnt,) it should relate to the Skeletons, Spiders, Creepers and everything. It would mess everything up if we had a ton of bosses unrelated to the game.

Please tell me how skeletons, spiders, creepers, zombies, zombie pigmen, and ghasts are related to the game besides the fact that they are in it?
If Notch adds the bosses, they'll become related to the game automatically.
Plus if he adds bosses like these, he'll probably create some sort of button that toggles bosses on or off in options, not just the difficulties for factoring bosses.

If Notch adds bosses, then they'll HAVE to relate to the already input mobs, or else its not a boss, just annoying things trying to kill you when mining for Diamond.
Craftable adminium? It's uncraftable for a reason - the fact that you can't remove it. It's only for server admins to use to make definite boundries. Think of the fun griefers could have with an unremoveable block. Otherwise, I support.
well, I think a sea serpent would be cool, but not a good boss battle, for a few reasons. I don't like the idea of fighting a boss while swimming, because mobility would be restricted, and if you kill it, it drops something on the bottom of the ocean floor. good luck searching for it.
I think sea serpents would be better as just a very rare mob.

if it bothers you, don't call them bosses. call them "unique mobs" or something like that.
also, (I feel I'm going to be saying this a lot), the bosses are entirely unobtrusive on the game. if you don't want to fight one, you won't go into the huge tower. it's that simple.

well, there aren't any griefers in single player.
you both have reasonable points. I think bosses should be allowed in multiplayer, so people can team up on them. however, if griefers are stupid enough to waste diamonds to put adminium in annoying places, the op should be able to remove it pretty easily. if they can't, they should be able to.

That was said with what I assume was a lack of understanding of what a chunk is. I'm assuming that it is going to be changed to one every few biomes.

Yeti:
Ice Skates. (I know this was already thought up... a lot)

But the gold could be anything, depending on how much durability you want.
It could make you go fast on ice, but lose durability on land.
Sand Wyvren:
Super shovel. (Similar to the power pickaxe)

It would be able to dig stone and wood, turning them into sand in the inventory, but with right-click, it would make sand into sandstone.
