Hmmm... One thing is missing from this boss list... I think I know what it is! A swordsman guy!
Name: Swordsman of the Grave
Spawn: Deep underground (diamond area).
Area/lair: A large cavern filled with torches. Has random chests with iron swords in them laying about. If you don't have at least a stone sword, grab one from the chests!
Appearance: A human knight wearing pure black armor that is more durable than diamond. He has red eyes, (might have a shield if shields get implemented) and wields a diamond-like sword
Entrance: One corner in his cave is pitch black. When you near it, he will slowly walk out of the corner. Once he is fully out, he raises his sword, and charges!
Special: If one of your slashes, and one of it's slashes collide, you will both be knocked back, but then you will lose control of your character for a few seconds as the you and the swordsman lunge at each other. Neither of you will take damage during this, and at the end will be a slow-motion segment, where if you left-click at the right time, you'll deal damage to the knight (this is not the only way to damage the knight). Also is immune to lava, extremely fast, and is not slowed down by water.
Attacks:
Slash- As you would expect, he just slashes
Fire Strike- This only happens if lava is nearby. He coats his sword in fire and slashes at you.
Torrent- Only happens if water is near by. Summons up the nearby water source to break through the wall, and slows you down (does no damage)
Welcome to Your Grave!- Makes a sound like growling, and surrounds you in obsidian, so you can't escape and then he charges lightning fast and cuts the obsidian in half, and dealing a ton of damage to you. He will almost never do this attack unless low on health and the battle has gone on for a long time.
Drop: Armor of the Night (will drop one piece in the set, but you can craft all of them) OR Elemental Sword (the same sword he uses, but it looks like diamond) You can decide which it drops, or if you gain the ability to craft/has the possibilty to drop both after you defeat it.
Armor of the Night is crafted just like any other armor, but with obsidian. It's more durable than diamond, and stops the player from being slowed down by lava and water (but does not make you immune to lava).
Elemental Sword is a diamond sword with buckets of water and lava placed around it like this:
[] []
[] []
= bucket of lava
= bucket of water
= diamond sword
It's effects allow you to do 2 attacks that the Swordsman of the Graveyard did (Torrent and Fire Strike). Torrent: Just aim towards the place where you want the water to go, right-click, and it goes there (only works if the place you want the water to go, and you, are in a 20 block radius of a source block)
Fire Strike: While within a 20 block radius of lava, right click to do Fire Strike.
That's my idea for a new boss. Like it or no? I've also made a thread about a boss, except it's not as good. Here's the link if you want to read it: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=105787
hi i want the liopleurodon (dinosaur)it is bigger and heavier than a BlUE WHALE! AND IT IS THE BIGGEST THING THAT EVER LIVED ON THIS PLANET!Anyway it spawns in any biome but there has to be a deep water and in a large ocean that is right next to the boundaries of the map it actually it spawns out of the map and zooms in to your deep ocean you can only see its head and part of it neck in the map the rest of the body is out side of the map. attacks: mega chomp bites so hard breaks any block besides bedrock ,tidal wave makes a huge wave of water pushes you very faraway you can stop this by making a wall or dive underwater so the wave at sea level cant push you, current it makes a current you cant swim through even underwater blocks get pushed back too making it easy to suffocate you even lava gets pushed back .drops dino teeth that can construct armor that has the same durability gold its really just for occasions.

Idea for boss: Spider Queen
Lair: Entrance looks like a normal cave, covered by a spiderweb. Made completely of and spiderweb. Only spawns spiders. The further in you go, the more baby spiders will spawn. Does not spawn spiderjockeys. At the end there is a spawning chamber.
Poisoned: Every time you are attacked by a spider in a spider chamber, you have a small chance of being poisoned, at wich point you must eat a red mushroom or wait untill the poison wears off when you have 1 to 3 hp left.
Spawning Chamber: Large, sphereical chamber. In the center there is a chest on spider web. If you try to open the chest, the web breaks and it falls into a small hole underneath the web and the spider queen pops out of the hole.
Baby Spider: Unique to spider lair, 1/4 normal size. Does half spider dammage. Has 1hp.
Spider Web: Unique to spider lair, can only be broken by , , or being stuck to it. Drops string when broken by stick. Can be crafted and placed outside of spider lair, but does not occur naturally anywhere else. When touched, you are stuck for 10 seconds. The web breaks when you become unstuck.
Spider Queen Attacks: Jumps at you like normal spider, does double dammage, but does not do it as often to avoid melee attacks. Climbs the walls so it is directly above you, then drops on you causeing a large ammount of dammage to you as well as some to itself. Throws baby spiders at you, doing normal spider dammage if you are hit by them.
Appearance: 4x normal spider size. Has the hour glass shape black widdows have in real life.
Spider Queen Resistance: High HP. All weapons stronger then a steel sword do same dammage as a steel sword.
Spider Queen Weakness: Not very resistant to dammage. [>>-i>] s do normal dammage, does as much dammage as a dimond sword does on normal enemies.
Unique Items: Egg Sack, Spider Nip
Egg Sack: Used to craft Spider-Arrows
= egg sack
[] [] []
[>>-i>] [] []
[] []
Spider Arrows: Drops baby spiders when they hit something
Spider Nip: Equiped in the sheild slot if that feature is made. Causes baby spiders to follow you around and attack agressive enemies for you. Normal spiders will not attack, and will run away if attacked. Normal spiders can be ridden like pigs. Spider Queen's dammage is reduced by 1.

now read the post again. your confusion will be answered by the bold text in the first section.
first, same problem as Ganon. It's copyrighted.
Second, there's already a dragon boss
Third, you actually should start thinking about your own ideas. Notch isn't going to copy the bosses from other games.
And you didn't put anything new for the drop.

Some new idea for a new boss: a boss that actually is under your feet most of the time.
that nearly never comes in your sights. like a 'drill mole' or something like that.
your idea is a lot, in concept, like the wurm. An underground tower doesn't really make much sense, and neither does the lava pool. You're not going to fall off a tower underground. The pound boots are cool, but the rest of the boss would be too hard to program.
Actually, as a side note, I'm thinking of putting a note on the wurm saying that it will be very hard to program, it's not that amazing, and it's really not worth programming unless Notch is feeling ambitious.

Idea for boss: Spider Queen
This is a more complicated version of arachne. The boss can't drop anything unique that can't be crafted afterwards (egg sack, spider nip), and it would be overcomplicated, possibly overpowered, and annoying to have a posse of baby spiders. Imagine trying to explore a tight cave with them pushing you around randomly.

hi i want the liopleurodon (dinosaur)...
sorry, but that's way too hard for Notch to program. The bite would take much more animating than any of the other Mobs, and wouldn't look at all realistic. I'm not even sure how the wave would work, since water doesn't work like that in the game. Current would be easier. It would not be fun to fight a massive dinosaur underwater. You move too slowly, and since there's no where to build anything, the battle would just be you slashing the dinosaur praying you win. You won't.
The dinosaur teeth aren't craftable, so unless he drops 24 of them, it's impossible to build a full set of armor. And even if he does, once the armor wears out, you can't rebuild it. And why would anyone fight a giant boss for some dress clothes?
Quote from Xkrules »
Swordsman of the Grave...
Cool idea, actually really cool, but next to impossible to program. Notch would have to animate, just for this boss:
the boss walking
the boss slashing
the boss dipping his sword in lava
the boss summoning up a torrent
the torrent of water moving.
His charge/obsidian cutting move, which wouldn't work properly if you're standing in between two blocks.
Most of the other bosses have only 1,2 or maybe 3 animations each. For the most part they just stand in one position (like all the mobs in this game)

So instead, all bosses will drop a very powerful, very special item, which is unique to that boss. Only once the boss has been killed, the player will gain the ability to craft the item. This means that defeating a boss will give the player more abilities, which I find to be more interesting than randomly generated loot.

okay. better tweet notch about removing the dungeons then. I mean, seriously, how can anyone get anything done with those so actively trying to destroy your game?
Why are the dropped items craftable?, if you're to have some sort of unique and 1 per biome boss fight you should have them drop unique loots, though i like the loot ideas you have :smile.gif:

Locust that get stronger the more you craft there items
Locust pendent - go to queen next time
locust armor - go to Empress next time
Locust armor pendent and empresses head - go to godess

Keyofdoor and only Keyofdoor is allowed to have me on his avatar.
I really like this idea but I am not sure how I feel about how the bosses spawn, especially when it comes to multiplayer. It would be kind of lame if the bosses could only killed once per server. In order to fix this, here is what I propose; have random mobs in the game have a very small chance (say 1%) to drop a boss compass. Players cannot craft boss compasses, and mobs can only drop compasses for bosses in their plane of existance (i.e. ghasts and zombie pig men could not drop a compass for bosses in the overworld and vice versa). Once this item is looted, the boss spawns in an apropriate location that is just outside of the range of chunks already generated on the server. There can not be more than one of each type of boss active in the world at any given time. If all bosses are active for plane of existance, no more compasses can be dropped. Also, the compass would provide a clear warning that following it is dangerouse though it would not say which boss it points to.
Having the bosses spawn in this way would have a couple of advantages:
1) Every on has the chance to fight a boss.
2) It provides rare items for a server's economy; boss compasses could be traded for huge amounts and individuals who have learned to craft said items have a unique item to trade.
Now, I do have a few questions about how the boss recipes would be obtained. First, would it be only the person who actually "agros" the boss that learns it, or will any one in a certain radius get the ability? If it is the person the boss agros, for the Curse of the Creeper, would all people in a very short radius also get their own version of the curse? And finally, once you learn the recipe would it be unlocked on your account or will it only be limited to the world you are currently in? If it is account based, then I suppose you can sort of dis-regard everything I have mentioned as you could go fight a boss on your own world to get the recipes/have the experience.
Also, Makanix had a suggestion for the metal Infinium:
Perhaps this could provide the middle block for your nuke recipe.
I love this concept, and suggest an idea of my own:
Diadorii (pronounced dee-uh-doh-rye)(This is a created creature of mine)
Setting: grassland (normal) biome.
Dungeon: This is a 60 (number up for discussion) block long dungeon with 12 block high walls. The walls are made out of bedrock, meaning that you can't mine you way out upon triggering the boss. The entrance is a rectangular door made out of moss stone. As soon as you enter, you will see a pad that you may walk on to trigger the boss. You cannot fully enter without pressing this button. The inside of the structure is narrow and complex. The complexity will be explained shortly.
Boss: The Diadorii is a bit larger than the average mob, and can be noted for being composed out of bright yellow matter. The brightness of it's skin acts as light for him.
Event: Upon pressing the button mentioned before, the door behind you will be closed until the encounter has been finished. Also, by pressing the button, lit torches are lined on the walls.
Objective: Defeat the Diadorii by finishing the obstacle course set in front of you. The Diadorii is in the very front of the course. The course requires platforming and dodging skill. Every obstacle has a pit that you can potentially fall down into. These pits will not instantly kill you, thanks to water being placed at the bottom, but there are monster mobs in each that will attempt to do you harm. A ladder can be climbed to take you to the beginning of the obstacle you just failed to pass.
Boss moves:
Push: The Diadorii throws a gust of wind at you at an abnormally fast speed (1 every 2.5 seconds), if you are hit by it, you will be forced down. Being hit does 1/2 a heart of damage.
Accumulate: The Diadorii throws an especially large gust of wind at you at tremendous speed (1 every 5 "push"es. If you are hit, you will be forced back, potentially to the previous objective. You will not be harmed when hit, and the only way to dodge this throw is by standing still.
Note: Both abilties reduce in speed linearly the closer you are to the ending.
Ending: Pressing another button at the end of the course defeats the boss, and the prize will be thrown at you.
Prize: Wind Box
The Wind box acts as a passive buff to your running speed. After running forward for 2.5 seconds, your run speed will increase by 175%. This effect wears off once you turn into another direction, or stop. This ability works so long as you have the watch in your inventory.
Since there are no official horses, he would ride a pig.
The Pig Rider's lair could be some sort of a farm, with lots of farm animals(especially pigs) and wheat. This farm would spawn in some plains, away from all trees. The pig that the Pig Rider rides could be abnormally large, maybe 2x or 3x the size of a normal pig.
He looks like a stereotypical farmer; straw hat, overalls, etc. He is neutral when you first go onto his farm, but stampling his wheat or killing any of the animals would cause him to attack. When you anger him, he jumps onto the nearest pig and the pig grows to an enormous size. The Pig Rider's hoe then turns into a scythe, and he runs around attempting to slice at you. The Pig Rider, when killed, would drop his scythe.
Crafting the scythe:
[] []
[] []
The iron could be a material of your choice, like wood, if you wanted.
The scythe, if aimed just right, can decapitate any mob. The better the material it's made out of, the higher the chance of DECAPITATIIOOOOON!
I'm not sure about the giant pig, maybe the Pig Rider could have a charing attack while on the pig, and if you kill it, he has to chase after you on foot. The pig could drop a bunch of ham, and if the Pig Rider is killed before the pig, the pig only charges after you, often missing without his rider.
I was also thinking, maybe if you destroy his whole farm, another one spawns in the aether, allowing you to fight him again. Or maybe he could be friendly in the aether, allowing you to ride his pigasi, and shear his sheepuffs.

I thin that mostly because of the underground bosses, they have to spawn on their own, because otherwise, you would just staircase mine into their roof; rather than find a big cavern in a cave system.
Notch will never make something that people describe in this much detail. He may listen to general ideas, but he's just going to do what he feels is best, which, to be honest, probably is best.
Spawn: deep underwater, any biome
Area/Lair: A large body of water with a tiny island with one tree on it, there is a huge school of squid there and if you kill at least 5, he appears.
Drop: The squid's tooth (sword slightly stronger than iron sword but not as strong as a diamond one) and 32 ink sacs
Appearance: A squid at least 5 times the size of a normal squid, but green with red eyes.
Entrance: A cave appears beneath the player, it arises to avenge his fallen brethren.
Special: can jump and cause a shockwave in the water, flinging the player 3-10 blocks high (depending on armor)
Attacks:
Eggs: Summons aggresive squid that look like him but are the size of a normal squid (they hatch out of White blocks that he drops, so you can prevent them from appearing because they hatch after 15 seconds.
Ram: Rams into you, doing 2 hearts of damage if unarmored
Drown: Swims directly above you so as to stop you from surfacing, making you drown. (Unless you have the diving helmet.)
Bite: Swims at you with it's teeth facing you. If the teeth part of it hit, it does 4 hearts of damage unarmored.
Has 781 uses (half that of a Diamond sword.) It is a legendary sword that a previous traveler had, before they were eaten alive. (In case you're daft, the handle is gold, the rest looks exactly like an iron sword, because the gold bar is the handle.

FEEDBACK PLEASE
The Pig Rider

Monster Squid

Has 781 uses (half that of a Diamond sword.) It is a legendary sword that a previous traveler had, before they were eaten alive. (In case you're daft, the handle is gold, the rest looks exactly like an iron sword, because the gold bar is the handle.
