You know. Just for fun with the goggle idea, we could have beer goggles or something. And you could throw it at mobs or wear it yourself to do these things.
-Impair vision (obviously. Your vision is yellow!)
-Move one block every 10 blocks the WRONG way. (Dizzy much?)

That's all I could think of so far...
Well... Minecraft is a child friendly game, not a drug and beer reference to get 10 year old Timmy high.

Parents would have to go to the options and lock the beer goggles with a password so kids can't create the goggles.

A option just for a really unnecessary item? I dont think so... How about, just goggles? Were not drunk explorers, dreaming of exploding penises.
Like I said, I didn't want goggles to add extra breathing time. And I'll leave snorkels out of this topic since it was already made. Thank you for the post :tongue.gif:
Snorkels have already been made? As in... 'Implemented'? Or as in 'Already suggested'?
Suggested.

As much fun as beer goggles would be, I have to agree that it's a kid friendly game and it seems like going out of our way to add a whole password thing for it.

I like the idea :biggrin.gif:
Thanks! :tongue.gif:
UPDATE: I'm still working on making the basic picture. I want it to be perfect. I hope Bell can code this for me and we can get it all set up!
I don't go underwater often and when i do not long because navigating is so slow. I did have to because my house turned out to be on a sort of upside down iceberg parcel of land so I had to fortify it and i found seeing distance was hindered by the darkness not the water. So a portable light source would be more useful. But a way of breathing longer would be cool, especially if say you really mess up mining and get a flooded mine. Making the underwater a new more accessible area could open up a new area of development.
tl;dr
Goggles no
Air tank yes
Interesting idea :smile.gif:
Especially the option to craft quality like tools/weapons (e.g. wood, iron etc)
Durability by VERTICAL depth vs material quality also sounds great (counts as usage multiplier)
VERTICAL DEPTH should be a significantly increasing multiplier
Perhaps it not only increases underwater vision distance but also increases how long you can hold your breath.
This way a DIAMOND goggle would not have to see forever (so you still get the water vision effect) but would significantly increase the time you could stay underwater without beginning to drown.
Because you are not HITTING anything, I think GOLD could last the longest
However, DIAMOND goggle increase your viewing distance and underwater time the most
Perhaps use 2x less resources for the design (and keep this combo for something else)
NEW recommended crafting design...
LEATHER (could not find leather icon, even tried [Leather] )
[]
[]
extra 1/3 increased underwater vision
extra 1/3 increased underwater time
very low durability (greater depths would almost instantly destroy goggles)
WOOD
[]
[]
extra 2/3 increase underwater vision
extra 2/3 increased underwater time
medium durability (greater depths would destroy goggles fast)
IRON
[]
[]
DOUBLE underwater vision distance
DOUBLE underwater time (half speed loss of breath/air bubble icons)
good durability (greater depths are workable with iron goggles)
GOLD*
[]
[]
TRIPLE underwater vision distance
4 TIMES underwater time
EXCELLENT durability (not hitting anything)
DIAMOND*
[]
[]
4 TIMES underwater vision distance
TRIPLE underwater time
EXCELLENT durability
*POSSIBLE combined design to achieve 4 times both view and time GOLD AND DIAMOND
[]
[]
4 TIMES underwater vision distance
4 TIMES underwater time
EXCELLENT durability
(rewarded for better design - diamond with glass for vision and gold rims...)
Uhhhh.? diamond is rare than gold soo isn't that like a n00bish suggestion, the full diamond should be better

Wasn't meant to be spam. I actually know Bell, I'd liketo say we're friends, and I was merely curious. That's all. Any if you would want me to make some excuse as to why I was asking, though this wasn't the actual reason, I wanted to know his background upon coding so I can see if he was good enough to actually do it.

I like the Idea,
Since we now have new water mobs, why not be able to watch them in their naturally environment?
And maybe add some sort of Oxygen tank so you may be able to breath longer underwater?
Well, I think OceanCraft, a more popular thread, has already talked about oygen tanks. I could add that to this thread if wanted, but I don't see an overall point to adding it. Thanks for the support, though! :tongue.gif:

The goggles would make the darkness of the water go away. You could see perfectly, depending on what kind of goggles you are wearing. Thus, in a sense, it is a "portable light source" for water.... in a way.
Yes, I think there should be an easier/better way to explore underwater. But, there should also be more to find underwater, were that the case.
Lol, I've seen that Simpson episode before. When they're making the Radioactive man movie :tongue.gif:
I agree, as for the "more underwater". For now, the best thing you can do is make underwater homes, and this would help.

Goggles should also be visible. Like the guy in the center in the following picture.
(Yes this was originally a picture to illustrate some other idea.)
Yes! That's exactly what they should like. I need to edit those out and give them to bell and see what he can do. Thanks!

I like the googles Idea.
Then, you could craft the googles with a bow like in Zelda: Twilight Princess and you get ...SNIPING BOW, YEAH!
About the underwater thing, aren't Jack o lanterns working in the water?
Yeah, but their light source goes, what, 5 blocks? And how often do you have 60 or so pumpkins to put down on the bottom of the ocean for light source. I'm not saying goggles would make them obsolete though. Let's say I want to make my underwater house. Use goggles to make it, and when you're done, use pumpkins for underwater light source so you don't have to wear goggles.
Also, goggles can be used for underwater exploration. Pumpkins aren't really good at that.

I can understand this, but you dont have to flood the place with sentence long posts. As well as double posts.

Oh come on! How did this thread get this long without someone saying it???
Lol, why would they do nothing?
Haha, it took me a second to see what it said :tongue.gif:
Out of curiosity, how long have you been coding?
Sweet. I'm actually just starting to learn Java now. I'm almost learning Assembly line :tongue.gif:

What if you want to explore deep down and far. Light stone wouldn't provide that for you as well as, and efficient as, goggles.
