Hello and I'm Leo, otherwise known as LeotheLegendMC, here to show you my idea about gunpowder trails. It's current uses are: a crafting ingredient for TNTs, Firework rockets, firework stars and fire charges (excluding mods). It is obtainable by killing creepers, ghasts, and witches and obtainable in dungeon chests in 1 in 12% chance (again, excluding mods). I was fund of watching cartoons when I was a child. I remember watching an episode where they made a trail out of gunpowder, lit it up and the flame obviously followed the trail, consuming it at the same time. Then I thought, why not add this to Minecraft? Some of you may say, "We already have redstone trails, why bother to have gunpowder trails?", we may have redstone trails, but finding redstone to power up TNTs and other machineries can be hard especially to novice players. Starting on a new world and finding redstone is a bit hard indeed if you don't have a strong armor and an iron pickaxe. For example, you have a smp (survival multiplayer) map with your friend/s. Then, you wanted to troll/prank them, but you discovered that you lack redstone for traps but you're abundant with gunpowder. You've decided to mine but almost all ores in all caves were mined by your friends and by you. That's the time when you use gunpowder trails (if you're planning redstoneless traps, go on). Because of this, creepers will now drop uncommonly a gunpowder and rarely TNT/s but the chance of dropping a gunpowder by all other mobs remains and does not change. If redstone needs a comparator or a repeater, well, you will have no problem lighting up TNTs even from afar. Gunpowders, when placed will be like redstone.

Thanks! When you light up a gunpowder trail, it will not be like a redstone that when you turn it on, all will be on too. Lighing it it up wil take some time depending on how long the trail is

Avoid making suggestions like "Let's replace X with Y for people who have a hard time getting X." When you add an easier alternative to redstone, that makes redstone nearly useless for the exception of crafting redstone related items. It's hard making an elaborate trap without repeaters or redstone torches anyhow.

Why even bother collecting it when you could just get gunpower? Redstone isn't hard to get. I find way too much of the stuff, how mined out would world have to be for there to be zero redstone? If you want to make redstone renewable, don't suggest an alternative that is renewable, suggest a way to make redstone renewable.

There is no winning when it comes to substitutes, either X becomes useless with the new easier way, or your idea is useless to the point it might as well not be in the game.

Well, it's not really an alternative to redstone. It's a new use for gunpowder, that's all. Gunpowder trails can light only TNTs, while redstone lights TNTs and other "machines".

That's a bit better. Anyhow, the drop rate for gunpower is 0-2. I find restone around every corner in caves and when you branch mine I get so much of it have twelve stacks. I find it unlikely by that point you haven't or aren't even close to finding any redstone. If TNT is a rare drop, how many creepers would you even need to kill to get enough for a basic tnt trap? If it's equal to a zombie dropping iron; that's about 60 creepers.
I just don't find this necessary. Though I do think creepers should drop TNT rarely.

Uh...Redstone is almost TOO easy to find. No reason for this, tbh.

I see where you're going with this. I think you did good for a first suggestion, and this could very well become a pro to traps if added to Minecraft.

Gunpowder, like you said, can be dropped by a creeper, ghast, or witch. Redstone, like you said, is hard to get without strong armor, and impossible without an iron pickaxe. I personally find it easier to mine redstone than kill a Ghast or Witch, and creepers aren't exactly plentiful in Minecraft worlds. Redstone can be dropped from Witches, so why look for Gunpowder? Perhaps you can combine Redstone and Gunpowder so long as it isn't connected to a redstone contraption, in which that case, maybe the Gunpowder drops, like if you use a piston on a torch or whatnot.

Just a suggestion, you don't need to take it for granted.

I quite like it. Maybe the trail could use some of the code from crops, so you could stomp it out

Maybe it could burn slower than Redstone, used only for TNT, it could be a timed explosion in an adventure map. Maybe sparks as well?

Think of the trolling possibilities! Where's my coding stick, I need to mod my game!

I like this idea.

As for burning time. Perhaps have each "gunpowder" trail burn for an amount of time (say 4~6 ticks) before setting the next block of trail.

That way, you get a nice visual of a sparking trail advancing toward TNT.

I half support. It would be cool for TNT and the looks that fire burning towards TNT has, that's about it. But I see no real issue with it being implemented.

While it sounds very fun, and not too complicated, the niche is already filled by redstone. Needs something of it's own - infinite range once lit, or timed explosion at the end, something like that.

Okay first of all, Redstone is much, much more easy to acquire then gunpowder, you can get that stuff in bulk from the abundance underground, so don't go saying its rare while Gunpowder is "easy to get".

Tell me what's so great about using Gunpowder wiring, opposed to Redstone wiring, than I might support.

Yes, redstone is easier to find. But this looks cooler. Not everything is about utility, sometimes aesthetics comes into play.

I like the idea of burning gunpowder trails. I don't so much like LeoGaming350's reasoning for including it as redstone is very plentiful indeed.

Suggested advantages:

• Sparkly particle effects
• Emits light as strong as a torch when burning (only the current block that is
• Cause TNT to instantly explode when a burning gunpowder trail reaches a TNT block, instead of the traditional 4 second fuse countdown.
• Causes Creepers to instantly explode when a burning gunpowder trail reaches one (also a disadvantage)
• Lights mobs on fire if they are standing on the burning gunpowder.

Suggested disadvantages:

• Burns at a rate of 2 blocks per second (MUCH slower than redstone, can be outrun by a player at walking speed)
• Can only be activated by fire, not directly via a redstone pulse. (Thus traps require an extra step or two.)
• Causes Creepers to instantly explode when a burning gunpowder trail reaches one (also an advantage).

This is how I see it-

Redstone=Common as Crap

Gunpowder= RUN!!!!!!!!!!! CREEPER!!!!!! (Rare)
