This would be a block that hoppers could run items in and it would craft them into what it had been set to craft. it wouldn't let any other items in other than the ones needed to craft the item. The player would determine what it would craft by opening it up and laying out the crafting recipe on a crafting grid, then when the items passed through, they would come out crafted.
For example, you have a mass producing iron farm. You are getting so much that your chests are over filling, you need more space and you don't want to take the time to craft them all into blocks. This is where the crafter would be used for.
This idea is for Vanilla MC
I will let the creator decide how to set the recipe.
Might Cause quite a bit of lag but would be nice for auto crafting stone bricks. Like setting up an automatic furnace to smelt cobble then crafting the smooth stone into stone bricks.
make it more expensive. a lot of redstone components needed, as well as an expensive emerald block. the emerald shows on the crafters texture. might make pictures.
I don't think it would be too powerful considering that it wouldn't actually take away the material requirement, and you can craft a stack of anything in a couple of seconds anyways. Maybe have it take time and consume fuel kind of like a furnace. Maybe one second per item crafted (not a lot, but significant when crafting several stacks), and have fuel process twice as many items as in a furnace (1 coal/ charcoal = 16 crafts, 1 stick = 1 craft, etc.) It would be most useful for recipes where the components can be gathered automatically already, iron blocks, bread by using a villager base wheat farm, etc. I think it would be a neat block that would be useful while not being overpowered. However, one potential problem I can see with piping the items into it with hoppers would be which slot the items would go in, if there was more than one of an item in the table, it would only start to put the items in the second slot when the first slot was filled.
Supportif we can figure out a good way of avoiding the problem I mentioned.
Complete autonomous farming of things like pumpkin pie would devalue foods even more than they currently are. At least the auto chicken grinders get laggy when made large, so you cant build giant ones on servers. Personally I feel hunger needs to be much more of an issue than it currently is, and on multiplayer servers the bar is a complete joke.
As for the new recipe, I do think that fixes it somewhat. At least it's not just five iron and a log. I think crafting a recipe should take 3 seconds, no master the complexity.
I feel like the drop in value from auto-crafting pie wouldn't be significant, since as it is, you could just grab a stack of sugar cane, a stack of eggs, and a stack of pumpkins, craft the sugar cane into sugar, then the sugar, pumpkin, and eggs into a stack of pie. That would take only ~10 seconds, rather than 64 or 192 seconds. I think that a fuel requirement would also help. I do kind of feel like food isn't important enough, but I think that is for a different topic.

You want these emeralds? Too bad! These are MY emeralds!
I don't care if you have a egg or dragon in your signature. I'm not gonna click it.
This seems good but some components seem a bit too unrelated.
Maybe,

I- Iron block
Iron to make it a bit more expensive and also maybe add iron at the edges of the actual block, like reinforcement.
This is my suggestion for this suggestion.
Overall, I think this suggestion is pretty good. So, support.
I'll make a new crafting recipe. The emerald is just to make it expensive, but maybe it can make crafting better. Mysterious.
