Notch should really add this. I'm not sure how many block IDs notch had already used, but couloured sand blocks, coloured sandstone and coloured glass would be well worth using up the IDs.
Agree, colored sand castles/pyramids + colored glass would make the game look so nice. :biggrin.gif:
maybe replace wool with sand, rather than glass.
but colored sand in a furnace = colored glass.
it just seems a little bit more logical.
Plus dye + sand would be craftable in the 2x2 grid, which despirately needs some more Minecraft love. :smile.gif:
Definitely agree! This should be implemented for sure. The whole artistic side is great, with stained glass for castles, cathedrals, or just a seriously BA house. And uhm yes... the raves. The RAVES! Hahah, especially with Deadmau5 doing music for Minecraft... it just tells us that this needs to happen.

The wool he just added all use the same Block ID, with the 4-bits for color stored in metadata. He could do the same for glass without using any more of the precious namespace (currently 8-bit, or 256 distinct block types)

Well now, that opens up tons more coloring possibilities. Imagine not only being able to make colored sand (plus all associated uses incuding stained glass), but being able to use dyes to color other materials, such as wood, cobble, stone, etc. :smile.gif:
adding dye to a glass block shouldn't do anything. In order to get stained glass, you should have to dye sand and then smelt the dyed sand into dyed glass.
That's kind of what me and my friends were getting at, add dye to sand to color it then place it in the furnace to get colored glass, the more dye you add to the sand the darker/more vibrant the color.
And colored sand + light dust + furnace = glowing colored glass. Probably wouldn't be colored lighting unless the lighting code was redone. But still, using less torches is always a plus.
I love this idea. Notch should really, really add this. Shame that he probobly doesn't look at the Suggestions forum. He should've added this instead of cake. :tongue.gif:
Has a GetSatisfaction post been made for this yet? Stained glass would be a simple and brilliant addition to an already excellent crafting system. The possibilities would be near endless--and frankly, I officially have my cathedral designed. Let's see it happen!

well, once I finish up the graphics for the colored sand and stained glass to add to the Extended 2x2 crafting grid, I'm going to post the Extended 2x2 grid on Get Satisfaction.
yay for glass creepers

When I first read this: I thought... Stained grass? What the hell? I was about bash your as with logic.
But now I reread everything and realized its: Stained GLASS.
I support. :biggrin.gif:

+1 Let's make this happen.

I'm also considering adding this to extended 2x2 Grid crafting, but I'll need some time to get the graphics down for it.

Coloured light would also be really cool.

The new colored wool option is really fun to play with but colored glass used to filter light would be AMAZING!
I really hope Notch and his team seriously listen to this suggestion... it would totally rock!
