Hey guys, since the ability to color wool came out, I've been super psyched, having all these new colored blocks is awesome.
However what would be even better is stained glass! This would open up many options, such as being able to tint glass black to feel like a total bamf, or making beautiful stained glass art. :biggrin.gif:
Doing this would be the exact same as coloring wool, but replacing the wool with glass instead. imo colored glass is very nice to look at irl and would be incredible to have in-game as well.
Thoughts?
EDIT: So in response to all the great ideas that have popped up in this thread, I have decided to update the OP with the fantastic ideas so far. :smile.gif:
-Sand can be colored though the use of dyes, which can then be used to make stained glass and colored sandstone. Because sand is more common and easier to gather than wool, the game will have much more color and look awesome.
-Light that shines though stained glass is colored, allowing for pretty lights and of course, RAVES!!!! <3333333
-From what I've heard all of the colored wool blocks take up only one block ID.
I would love to see stained glass. Of course, the stained glass should be semi-transparent in order to look nice.
I would also love to see stained glass affect lighing. For example, whenever lanterns get implemented into the game, using stained glass to craft them should result in differnent colored lights. This would be especially awesome if future lanterns could be hooked up with redstone. Colored lights + timing mechanisms = Minecraft rave party. :smile.gif:
Noo! i was just about to make a suggestion! D:
But yeah, i want this too, cause it would be awesome for making church/cathedral-esque buildings :biggrin.gif:

If facebook, Myspage, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
However, I don't think Notch would be able to easily add colored lighting to the game's fundamental architecture without some major code revisions. Minecraft currently uses a relatively crude rule set to determine light level rather then the "standard" vector shading methods. I've also noticed that there isn't any real translucency in this game. The code to color objects below the surface of the water blue-tinted might be adaptable...
adding dye to a glass block shouldn't do anything. In order to get stained glass, you should have to dye sand and then smelt the dyed sand into dyed glass.

Dude that would be Sick!!!! Notch better add this O.O
maybe replace wool with sand, rather than glass.
but colored sand in a furnace = colored glass.
it just seems a little bit more logical.
Notch should really add this. I'm not sure how many block IDs notch had already used, but couloured sand blocks, coloured sandstone and coloured glass would be well worth using up the IDs.

Oh wow why didn't that occur to me hahahaha I agree
Also, Minecraft raves ftw!
Plus dye + sand would be craftable in the 2x2 grid, which despirately needs some more Minecraft love. :smile.gif:

I absolutely love this idea.
Especially if we could also get colored sandstone. :smile.gif:
Oh man, now we REALLY need this XD
I support this. +1
And just to mix it up I think there should be an option to make glowing colored glass by mixing in lightstone dust.
That aside, I think coloring Glass would be great, different colors aslo being able to tint it to have standard glass a little darker.
We need a more colorful Minecraft World, color the glass, stone, brick, mobs! *Dumps a can of Pink Paint on a Creeper*
Notch is the true messiah!!!
Anyways, of this idea.

Anyway, I think it'd be awesome to look through tinted glass, I'd like to see what MC looks when it's blue.
