My Avatar is a Dalek, therefor your argument is... EXTERMINATED!!!
You know who can tell me something I already know? Me. All the time. I'm really good at telling me stuff I already know. I don't need help in that department. I don't know about others, but I can't imagine I'm alone here.
you played minecraft in the first place because you wanted to have fun. you were thinking about yourself, not the game. it doesn't make you any better than other players.
"And why exactly do you need a reward? Just because you've played the game longer doesn't make you special."
Yes it does, CoD fanboys are not as special in a game like this as creative, friendly people.

Completely skipping negative posts as if they weren't there isn't gonna accomplish anything, and won't stop those same people from coming back to your thread...
You haven't given us any different argument rather than subjective thoughts players could have upon seeing this "badge of honor".
1. You want a reward? How about the fact that you got the game at a fraction of its final retail cost and never had to pay for any of the upgrades?
2. You think you're old from starting to play in beta? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
I'm unfortunately struggling to put into words just how moronic you sound saying the people who made the game should give you "respect" for playing it. I just... I can't... My brain just can't comprehend how retarded that is/you are.
Edit: There were close to a million people already buying MC, and significantly more playing it, before it even entered Beta. You are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo not special.
Look, I've been reading through this post, and I'm gonna put this nice and simple for ya, so you and your bad grammar can get it through your head
Time Means Nothing. Playing Long ISNT an achievement. You don't gain experience for playing a Game for a long time. This will mean NOTHING.
Man, listen to me. My bad grammar is not part of discussion. And only that you can say to me are insults because you don't know anything else to say...
Seniority is a widely used concept in and out of gaming. It's a gratification for long time customers in this case and can be a motivation for others.
Most of the negative posts in this thread are a reflection of the Minecraft community nowadays and are actually making a good point why there should be some sort of seniority badge.
Just my 5 cents
Finally someone that understand what I want to tell them. Guys, read his post because my grammar is too bad for understanding...

He wasn't insulting you. He was merely saying that just because you've been playing a long time doesn't mean you're special. That's just what we've been saying.
I believe someone had mentioned above posts how would the company keep track of who got the game in the earlier days when it was in Beta? Anyone can claim "Oh I was in Beta" even though they most likely joined 1-4 months ago ,and anyone can pass themselves off as an "Old Long Time Player".

And why should there be?
All I see is some idiot forum user saying: "OMG JEB RUEENED MINECRAAFT! ALPHA/BETA WAS BETTER!"
To Slay, dude. Just...dude. I want to ask you something. It's pretty important.
WHAT'S THE POINT!?
What's the point for getting a badge or cape for just playing the game since release! And here's why I despise this idea:
1. Someone could wave it like a flag, like they're superior, and they might not have ~100 posts (like you and some others)
2. As said before, someone could simply lie about playing that long.
3. That just means that you are a beta-tester. IN that case, I should get a reward for playing the 1.8 snapshots some months ago.
4. Since Minecraft is the most popular indie game, other indies could try this...AND ADD BENEFITS. Here's what I mean:
Say Derp McHerp made an indie game called BlockForge (Or Flying Bird, or Sweet Smash). He wants to make as much money as he can. THEN he sees Minecraft over here with these little badges for alpha/beta testers. He decides: "I'm going to use that system, but...Oh! HOw about beta testers get free gems?"
This would build a rift in that community of that game by making the 1st players look more important. Then Minecraft sees this going on with Derp making lots of money (but at what cost?) and decide to copy THIS.
Now Minecraft is ripping off players for stupid things (Like emeralds having to be bought)
Then other companies like EA, Ubisoft, etc would use this.
TL;DR: THIS SUGGESTION WOULD CAUSE ANOTHER TREND ABOUT MANIPULATING WALLETS. JUST FOR PLAYING A GAME LONGER.
No.It just wouldn't work and wouldn't make sense.Just because someone played from Cave Came, Alpha, or Beta doesn't mean they're more dedicated or know more about it, and it certainly doesn't mean that they deserve special treatment. It wouldn't work because someone may have been playing on a friend's/sibling's account for years but may have only bought an account recently.Besides, some sort of reward for having played in the early stages of Minecraft would only make new players really jealous because they would never have that.If some sort of title/cape/stamp etc. for being an early player was added, it could make servers fall apart, and could make many people brag needlessly and feel like they're special when they're really not, and cause many players to ragequit.People who bought the game before the official release aren't any different from anyone else, and they shouldn't be treated that way.

THE KITTY HAST BEEN RESURRECTED, AND LIVES ONCE MORE!
Ok, another thing I just thought it. Is it just me, or is it kind of unfair if there's something in the game that only curtain players can get, and if you're too late, then you can't ever get it again, and you're just left staring at the empty achievement, knowing it will be the only one you're never get.
In my opinion, everything should be able to be gotten by everybody. It may not be easy. Heck, it may not be free. But everyone can get it. Without this, it might look like Mojang's choosing favorites.

See why I don't support this?
You sir are very so correct! People can make up a bunch of lies to get the reward for being an "Old Time Player" even tho they could of been playing for few months. So I don't see why people would even " /SUPPORT " this as many people can think of ways to get through loop holes in order to get a badge or a cape heck only for playing for a short amount of time people are tricky. This IDEA has no way in chance of getting added.
Don't understand why people keep at it with this Not a chance in the world "Rewarding old players" is getting added.
