I know, I know. There's anaglyph 3D in the graphics settings. But I'd like to see a real 3D mode for the PC version of Minecraft (and console versions, why not?) that lets me use the 3D glasses that came with my 3D TV and see Minecraft in real 3D. It's not as hard to pull off as you might think...
My 3D TV (and most other 3D-compatible TVs) will make a 3D image by combining two side-by-side images. So if I look at the image in regular TV mode, I'll see two side-by-side pictures. The image on the left side of the screen is intended for the left eye, and the image on the right side of the screen is intended for the right eye. If I go into my TV's 3D menu, I can choose an option that will combine the two side-by-side images to make a 3D image I can view through the 3D glasses.
To expand on the side-by-side 3D option for my 3D TV, I wrote a simple 'Asteroids' game in YoYo Games' GameMaker suite where a right viewport and left viewport were used, and the two viewports were displayed side-by-side on my TV. Each viewport was 960x1080 (1920/2 by 1080), and the cameras for the two viewports were offset to simulate how the player would view the world through the left eye and the right eye. Then, in my TV's 3D settings, I told it to combine the two side-by-side viewports into a 3DTV image, and voila! Instant 3DTV-compatible 'Asteroids' game! I bet this same method could be used to make a 3DTV mode for Minecraft...
What do you think? I think it would be REALLY cool!!
Maybe it might be good for console but... this is for PC.... and theres not really a way to put it on a 3D tv without using an extra third party port....

Or you could use the tv as a monitor
But as for the suggestion I would be ok if they added it but i dont know how many people would actually use it
Thanks for the comments! This definitely would not be a major feature (The 3D Update, eh, I don't think so lol), but it would be cool to see it slipped into the Video Settings within some future update. Diamond, most laptops and new-ish vid cards ship with HDMI Out, which means you can simply connect your computer to the TV alongside your console, and the video and audio will come out of your TV. Then all you need is a wireless keyboard and mouse to play Minecraft (it's a lotta fun, until your wife wants to watch Netflix or Amazon Video). I'm with joeped, I'm not sure who all would use it (I definitely would on the PC, and prob a lot of console players would too), but how many people use the anaglyph 3D? Probably not a lot, but it's still a fun option.
I'd still like to see a 3DTV video option in Video Settings.
Your eyes themselves use 2D tricks to create a 3D result, so why would that be a problem?
There is a difference between our eyes identifying three-dimensional patterns and using two-dimensional projection tricks to cause things to 'pop out' of the screen.
It's the difference between a movie in 2-D and the same movie in 3-D. This should be obvious.

Indifferent
It would be a nice feature, and it really isn't hard to do (I put a 3D mode in a game I made myself once, and I got it to work in 30 minutes).
I'd still like to see a 3DTV video option in Video Settings.
This does not have my support.

This is not about 3D on a 2D screen, it's about 3D on 3D screens. And nowadays, TV's that support stereoscopic 3D are not uncommon anymore.
If it is a 3-D projection on a planar screen, using 2-D tricks of the eye to create a 3-D result, then it is 3-D on a 2-D screen.
