The tower of babel was made of of bricks and it was supposed to go to heaven, which doesn't exist (sorry to beak it to you). It was never proven more than a myth. The idea that any building can reach more than a few hundred feet is futuristic, even today, with you use bricks, loose rocks or the newest carbon nano-rod technology. Sorry, but building your way into another dimension is not as easy as it sounds....
The statement that *heaven does not exist because it was never proven* is logically fallacious (Argumentum Ad Ignorantium). Regardless of what you believe about heaven, there is no reason why it could not exist as an aspect of a video game making your response superfluous and irrelevant.
By the way, today's tallest building is the Burj Khalifa located in Dubai at a height of 2717 feet. Several hundred feet is a gross underestimation.
Congratulations, you just archived a Googleing level! Your Googleing level is now 2!
Also, i was referring to the lack of evidence of the tower of babel, not heaven, and I'm pretty sure, if you open Minecraft as a .txt file, you will find no "heaven" coded in there.
So either you are a 6 year old, or you are trolling. Or both. About Burj-whatsitsface, I couldn't really care less, but that's also quite irrelevant.

1) If this is added, I'll stop playing Minecraft .
2) <10% of the people who play Minecraft will actually try to build one.
3) And they will fail.
4) Hard.
Argumentum Ad Ignorantium still holds true whether you were talking about the Tower of Babel or heaven.
the whole concept of an "Argument to Ignorance" (most people speak english, it's a lot smarter to therefore use english rather then latin, since using latin to sound smart is like wearing a muscle shirt to look strong) is pretty vague. I mean, apparently it applies in all situations where somebody asserts something is true just because it hasn't been proven false, or that it is false because it hasn't been proven true. In the context of what Zombie_Killer was referring to- namely the tower of Babel, one would imagine that it follows quite logically that a structure of that magnitude wouldn't somehow escape our vision. Also, exactly how far would it go? farther then the moon? the solar system? Come on. While you could conceivably claim that saying "heaven doesn't exist" is an argument to ignorance (then again, so would saying it does; there isn't any evidence either way, really- it's a matter of faith), I find it amusing that you would try to extend that to his true intent, which was that the tower of babel doesn't exist. I mean, really, we would have found it by now. I'm sure a giant brick structure that extends outside the solar system would be pretty easy to spot; it's existence is proven false in the same way that you prove somebody false when they say they literally fit a billion grocery bags in their new car- I mean, in order to truly "prove" that you cannot fit a billion grocery bags in a car, somebody could claim you would need a billion grocery bags- but you don't. you look at the size of a grocery bag, you look at the car trunk, and you say "that wouldn't fit"- then you slap them in the face for using numeric colloquialisms for the billionth time; then he slaps you for the same reason.
All that aside, the original idea is sort of intriguing, but what is really being suggested is basically just the same thing as a nether portal, but it allows you to choose your "alternate world/dimension" and travel between them using a boring segment where you fly around and go towards floating spheres and then spawn in a new world. Really it's just a world hub that would happen to generate any number of "new" worlds; which brings up the additional problem that adding new types of mobs/blocks is not something you can just code as "make all blocks and enemies weird and screwy" or "this is a banana oriented planet, so give all enemies banana like features"; they would need to be designed; their actions thought out, etc.
Now it would conceivably be possible to have monster behaviours and abilities "randomly generated" the same as their appearance, but that would be nothing short of a rather big undertaking in and of itself; to ask the same of block generation, well, it just seems like biting off more then one can chew in a single bite. Picking out components of the original idea though, I like the "random enemies" bit, but that might be rather difficult to implement; new mob types being created on the fly, the game having to keep track of all of them, and do you just get a certain set of randomly generated enemies or are enemies constantly generated randomly, etc.
Great idea :biggrin.gif:
Maybe gravity could be affected? And I think having a cheap space ship (ie, on that you didnt work on well) could explode on impact, leaving a crater but you still alive. Not only that, but it means a new time system, or even multiple moons and/or suns. Why should minecrafts creativity be limited to earth-like environs, an alien world leaves many possibilities.
This is a pretty bad idea, and, not only that- this would be relatively impossible to code. It would be a massive waste of time for Notch considering all of the other things he could do with that time.
All we know is that you have an IQ of under 9000 and that has a higher IQ than you.
Well.... NO, LOL! Really, a piece of has no intelligence as it can't think/remember/learn/sense/know, and we do not know that the piece of is smarter than me; thats just what some random wangster said on the internet. It's called "checking your sources", smartass.

From the given information we can ascertain that has an IQ somewhere in between a fraction higher than your lowest possible IQ (1) and infinity, as there seems to be no upper limit to 's possibly immense intelligence.
Simply put,
1< 's IQ <= ∞
Okay... I see we have some work to do.
1) You need 1,8 IQ to be able to push a button on a keyboard at random (and to make your heart beat, I've heard), and around 30 to open a door, and I can assure you I have opened a lot of doors in my life!
2) This "information" you're talking about is nothing but a rant from a confused little brat who thinks he's a gangster. That's like me saying "your so dumb your moms iz fat!" and that being true just because I said it.
3) The correct equalization would be invalid, as you have three unknown parts, My intelligence (Y), the :Iron:s intelligence (X) and if either are larger than the other, or if they are equal to each other. That equalization would then be something along the lines of "X<Y or X>Y or X=Y because Y>X or Y<X or Y=X because X<Y or X>Y or X=Y..." and continue like that into infinity.
4) When you're going to play smartass, try finding someone who A) is dumber than you. :cool.gif: can't play the smartass game.

Thats why I wont bother arguing with you. By looking at your other posts, I can see that you are clearly a troll/cocky board-noob, and you have absolutely no idea what a troll is. BUUUUT since its 2:30 AM and I'm tired, I'll jet you pass for now, but try not to act so cocky next time, kay?
again, if you disagree with the idea, why the hell bother posting your argument against it? if you like it support it, if you don't move on then, you don't have to stick with it. Its bothersome and annoying. This post was made to have a decent and controlled way to share our ideas to improve or edit each other and another way of creating a similar play style to Minecraft but in a way it would expand, A portal to hell? seems too religious and hardly has anything to it, portal to heaven? what is this Cristianity? Unless your focusing a game on religion be my guest I'll quit Minecraft, but I haven't seen anything on it so far thats religious just monsters and digging good grief. An expansion like planets would be good for 1. Notch having room to place his ideas and expand them. He said on an interview he wanted to place more mobs that would have different attributes or "powers". Adding a new one to the environment already set in the game seems a bit weird. Were the hell were they all this time? Adding new texture blocks is the same problem. "I digged for miles and never found one before". Planets are good just for the addition of his ideas and its a good to near perfect system and idea on expanding his game. 2. Half of the community is set for meid-evil players. And come-on, minecraft isn't exactly meidevil!stop trying to argue that it is!! If you want it meid evil go play runescape, if you want it too sci-fi go play starcraft, But Im in the middle and I f%^@in love sandbox games were you can build what you want and personally I want an addition to it. And there's already texture mods, it makes everything meid or everything sci. I don't want either, I just want the same minecraft with an attachment on the side. and 3. Minecraft was split into two categories, Mine- Explore and venture. Craft- build and make. You can have fun exploring a new mysterious planet which I heard in one of the posts here they could have two or 3 moons/suns. now thats thinking!I hadn't thought of that but it seems like a brilliant idea. Zero no Tsukaima moons anyone? *extreme epic smiley face to anyone that gets it* And building and creating, planets with different texture blocks makes it cool to the creative minds of those who don't want to mod but want to build with what they have in the game already. Make a rainbow by collecting different colored blocks in each planet. your not gonna find red, orange, yellow, blue, or green blocks on the regular planet. You know what, the planets can have "moving"textures on the blocks, solid blocks just with moving things on it, they don't hurt or anything their just for show. Hey it can't hurt to try.
Bottom line is, DON'T ARGUE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT. like your momma thought you, don't say anything if you don't have anything nice to say. Argue only IF you have an idea that could work with the concept of planets or anything related, just different ideas, like methods of getting there, certain block textures, mobs, etc.
Notch has the final rule so why argue? Let him decide if its good or not. 3 People on a forum post arguing against it has no effect, nor does one full post but its worth the try. I'll post this on the original post for everyone to see instead to skip.
