I thought about this for a while. I wanted villages in Ice plains biomes for a a long time, and after new doors and fences were added, I thought I would whip up an ice plains world and build a village in creative. I liked the results, and I wonder if anything like such will be added to the game in the near future. The village i build was made entirely out of spruce wood as opposed to the standard oak wood, and I used the new spruce fences and doors. Snow covers the tops of buildings and any available water in the village is frozen. The gravel path has two snow layers as opposed to one that's normally on the ground in ice plains biomes (that was kinda hard to explain). So the question remains... will there be Ice plains villages in future updates?
I think the main reason why these are not implemented is because structures look really awkward in snow biomes, for the most part, as well as the reason that the farm plots will essentially be useless due to the water freezing. There's no doubt that these villages would need to be modified a little bit to survive the cold biomes.
Reply to PrimeEchoes: You are absolutely correct. Farm plots cannot strive in cold weather due to water freezing. However I think it would be cool if I see such a village, in an ice plains biome with frozen farm plots. When i made my ice plains village, i intended the water to freeze, because it adds to the theme of the village (everything covered in snow and made of spruce instead of oak).
Water freezing wouldn't really be an issue if Mojang just change the theme to fit the biome. For example in villages in cold biomes there could be special farmhouses, or you could patch the default farm design to add two log columns on each end of the water channel and put a horizontal log on top, that would prevent water freezing completely and still look mostly the same as the other village farm designs,
I like the idea of villages in every biome, but then I feel villages would need to be made drastically less common so that it is still fun and exciting to find them, basically just making each biome less likely to generate a village so that the distribution is roughly the same as currently. Also, I feel the general structure of villages would need to be more varied, otherwise we just get the same villages using different building blocks, I'd want to see more varied styles of buildings.
On the subject of biome-specific structures, it would be interesting if the fences and planks in abandoned mineshafts were made of the wood type that is dominant in the biome where their centre is. Like if a mineshaft's centre point is in a roofed forest the mineshaft's support beams would be made of dark oak planks and dark oak fences.
I agree that the structures look really weird...igloos would make a lot more sense.
Also, villages are meant to be rare. One spawning per biome area would be really overpowered, as the player would not have to look very far for iron, diamonds, tools, armor, rare horse armor and saddles, and even obsidian. I'd like to see them in different biomes, just not 1 per biome that spawns.
On a side note, the villagers should have parkas with their profession color on it. It would be hilarious to see a villager all bundled up for life in the ice plains.

i really really dont support village in every biome.
biome-specific features are the thing that actually gives a reason to explore the world
I think that the idea is to make the village of each biome different so you have a reson to go to every single biome, if the villages were creative I would for sure explore the world just to find all the village types, it could even have a Achievement, even tho most people don't seem to care about that.
Topic: Liked the Idea and I prefer wood instead of igloos, I think it looks better and Igloos can be used for Ice Spikes biomes.
