Uses same texture as gold, coal, iron.. but has orange/bronze theme. needs to be smelted into copper ingot and can be crafted regularly into a copper block. could be used to craft tools, weapons and armor most other minerals, more durable and efficient than stone but less than iron, but cant be used to obtain diamond, gold or redstone (like stone pickaxe).
W..Wait!! we dont need another ore for tools and armor, the gap between stone and iron is already not big to have something between it.
Yes, but the copper is not for this use actually.
Copper is a cheaper replacement for iron. like what?
copper could be used instead of iron in many recipes, in case you still haven't enough iron, or its a big server (with no cheats) and a lot if iron is getting consumed. examples :
Copper rails : copper could be used instead of iron in making rails, copper rails are less efficient but allows saving iron and are a cheaper source.
Copper cauldrons : could replace iron in making cauldrons
Copper door/trapdoor : same as iron, could be opened only by redstone, but weaker
Copper bars : bronze and weaker version if iron bars
Copper hopper : bronze and slower version of hoppers
Copper pistons : maybe it wont be a whole new item, but copper could replace iron in pistons
Copper shears : less durable than original shears
Weighted pressure plate (medium) : could be used as a weighted pressure plate between iron and gold
Tools and weapons : once again, yes we don't need another ore for tools and weapons, but it still can be used in crafting tools and weapons
Cheaper replacement of iron : could be used instead of iron in many recipes to save resources, especially when making a bi project like a long rail.
Decoration : there haven't been a block in minecraft with bronze color, adding copper is an extension to decoration in minecraft, not only copper block, there is also copper bars, cauldron, doors and rails
Medium pressureplate :gold plate gives signal for each item while iron gives for each 10 items. but copper gives signal for each 5 items.

Thanks for reading, hope you like it. also if you got another use for copper i would be happy to hear it
You're basically trying to make a metal that is conceptually "iron, but weaker". The problem is, that's a huge niche; stone is practically effortless to obtain (making it your go-to material for when you want an expendable tool or don't care about quality), and iron is also common but a bit trickier to obtain, which admittedly is not saying much. Copper has the unfortunate problem of being roughly as tricky to obtain as iron (though you'll get more of it) and being worse than iron. In the end, few will use it unless iron has been completely exhausted in a large area. This is only likely to happen on a densely populated multiplayer server; a relatively rare scenario.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
Iron is ridiculously common; I can easily mine 10+ stacks of it in around 3 hours spent caving; of all the ores I find iron is the only one that comes anywhere close to coal, the most common ore; for other ores we are talking about an orders of magnitude difference (the amounts of others ores I find vary considerably but I don't think I've ever mined more than 1/4 as much gold as iron, in a cave system entirely within the gold layer, where iron is still about 5 times more common on average; sure, when branch-mining in the diamond layer redstone is more common than iron, even coal when considering drops, but it has entirely different uses):
People even complain that iron is too easy to get (something that they can fix for themselves when 1.8 comes out, without needing mods).
I don't understand why so many people are against new ores. For a game called Minecraft, there's not enough ores for mining. If copper is added, iron would need to be more valuable, so people would stick to it, rather than ignoring it in favor of copper. Maybe iron equipment could be buffed, and lots of the copper items should be removed, to keep iron unique. I like the copper rails, tools/armor, and the pressure plate.

i said its a cheaper source in place of iron, but at the cost of effeciency
No support
who said every material have a cheaper source? only iron

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

Meh, most of these items are just weaker replicas of our iron items. Don't see much use of this.
