This would make gathering food tedious. Stamina seems pointless, rotting seems pointless, Animals raiding chests would be annoying, wolves killing my livestock would be annoying. And I thought this was about making mutton and rabbit meat worth something, not a complete food over haul

My Avatar is a Dalek, therefor your argument is... EXTERMINATED!!!
You know who can tell me something I already know? Me. All the time. I'm really good at telling me stuff I already know. I don't need help in that department. I don't know about others, but I can't imagine I'm alone here.
Since there's been a lot of anger about there being too much food, I though that instead of removing the new food, make it more reasonable to add them in! Give players a reason to take every chance they get to look for food. Starvation should be brought back, food should rot with different foods having different half-life's, animals should raid chests if they are exposed and steal the food inside. Plus, animals and plants should be rarer, so that being surrounded by food would be a miracle! And Iron Golems should attack you if you destroy crops in villages. Placing ice in chests could help to deter rot. Fishing wouldn't be quite so useless because fish would have a long shelf life. Cookies would never rot. Hunger should deplete for other reasons. Like sleeping, it should take a small toll on your stamina, as should standing in the rain for too long or being away from heat while in the snow. These ideas would improve the game so much by making food not quite extremely valuable, but by making it so that players must actively search for food on certain given days, and inspire them to breed animals (which would also come with it's challenges e.g. wolves spawning and killing livestock), to make up for the now immense amount of nigh useless food.
This is my first thread and I feel it's worth something
No support: This sounds like an unfun burden on the player, and would greatly discourage food gathering. It seems like a terrible idea altogether.
I find this idea great. I would recommend a few mods that do similar, namely Hunger Overhaul, Enviromine and the Survival Mod. I love hardcore survival, though I would like to see this in vanilla I understand why this would work better in a mod. However, an even better solution (which works best WITH those mods installed too) is the mod Spice of Life. Look at this: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/2091809-the-spice-of-life-encouraging-dietary-variety . If this is implemented into vanilla, I might even play it for about 5 minutes before returning to my 180 mod hardcore pack :P. Though then again, I'm one of the rare players that finds hardcore mode too easy, Jadedcat too soft and Gregtech MAGICAL lol.
Support. Though even more support for The Spice of Life in vanilla MC. Pls add to post ;D.
Since there's been a lot of anger about there being too much food, There has?
I though that instead of removing the new food, make it more reasonable to add them in! Give players a reason to take every chance they get to look for food. There's already a reason for the new food, to A.) just give the player more food and B.) have more animals drop it in the case of finding said animals first before others that have already been dropping food.
Starvation should be brought back, food should rot with different foods having different half-life's, animals should raid chests if they are exposed and steal the food inside. Plus, animals and plants should be rarer, so that being surrounded by food would be a miracle! And Iron Golems should attack you if you destroy crops in villages.
NO.
God no. That would all be terrible. No one wants to headache over food rotting and animals trolling our chests. Honestly. Just no.
Placing ice in chests could help to deter rot. You would need the Silk Touch enchantment just to pull this off...
Fishing wouldn't be quite so useless because fish would have a long shelf life. Cookies would never rot. Hunger should deplete for other reasons. Like sleeping, it should take a small toll on your stamina, as should standing in the rain for too long or being away from heat while in the snow. This suggestion is getting worse and worse. Now biomes are messing with our hunger? Making it more annoying to live in some of them? Fishing isn't useless, you get food, a way to tame ocelots and something to make potions with.
No... they would tie the game to a chair and bash it until it stops breathing, rather than improve anything. There's a difference between a fun challenge and just pestering players.
This is my first thread and I feel it's worth something I feel that it isn't. Absolutely no support.
Oh come on. Also, he wouldn't need silk touch, you could also use snow balls and blocks instead of ice? Or modded items with a specific NBT tag (me likey :P?) However, due to the mixed opinions of this suggestion (Me = YAAAAY, Everyone Else = NOOOOOO) I feel this would be better in a mod (rather than in a couple of mods I have to install separately and configure to make EVERYTHING HARDER.) What would be better, to solve the same problem, is, in my opinion, the Spice of Life thing, if only because it will appeal to more people.

You kind of make it sound like we're not support for the sake of just not supporting. I'm not trying to bash your opinion or anything, but how could you tolerate all of that? After 2 Minecraft days of mining, you wouldn't come back to a chest full of spoiled food with a derpy smile on your face and go "I like that! That's realistic and is a good challenge! Time to scout for more food that will also go bad eventually!"

Give players a reason to take every chance they get to look for food. I'm listening... Starvation should be brought back, Personally, I like this idea. food should rot with different foods having different half-life's, I like the idea, but I can't see it in vanilla. animals should raid chests if they are exposed and steal the food inside. I made a suggestion a little while ago that had rats that stole your food. I got many complaints about the idea. Just having stuff like pigs steal your food, though? I can't see that being in the game. Plus, animals and plants should be rarer, so that being surrounded by food would be a miracle! Can't see it in vanilla. And Iron Golems should attack you if you destroy crops in villages. I don't like this idea. The crops are actually supposed to be part of the reward for finding a village. Placing ice in chests could help to deter rot. Fishing wouldn't be quite so useless because fish would have a long shelf life. Cookies would never rot. Like I said, I can't see rotting food in vanilla. Hunger should deplete for other reasons. Like sleeping, it should take a small toll on your stamina, as should standing in the rain for too long or being away from heat while in the snow. Eh, I wouldn't mind if this was added. I think that wolves spawning and killing your livestock would be really cool. However, I think there should be a way to prevent this from happening.
This is my first thread and I feel it's worth something
Absolutely Not. I do not want to be attacked for taking food from villages and I do not want my food to rot. Nor do I want all of my animals that took a long time to breed up to a reasonable amount to die to a bunch of wolves. Animals should never raid chest and how hunger is set up now is fine as is.
So you are suggesting that food needs to be rarer and rot after a while? That would be very cool, for a realistic mod, otherwise it would make the game boring and food still would be "useless", I already find boring to breed animals, that's why I only eat potatos. Food still would be useless because there is no reason to have certain food types if you have another one that rot slower. So your "solution" don't solve anything and make the game boring for most of the people. Also you need to stop calling everybody that don't agree with you "twelve-year olds", otherwise I will report you. Also there is no reason to remove mutton, if you remove mutton might as well remove pigs, pigs are useles when you can just kill cows, might as well remove half of the biomes as most of them don't add anything to the gameplay and might as well remove gold tools and armor as no one uses them.
Calling people twelve year olds because they don't agree with you doesn't give you a good impression. It makes people despise you. And that's not a very intelligent thing to do.
Yeah I'm not going to wait for the OP to be completely overhauled considering how fast this devolved into flaming and hatred. Bleazy22 you are more than welcome to make a new thread with your updated ideas, but I better not see anymore insults or I will shut it down. And if anyone insults the OP in the new thread (should they choose to make it) I'll be handing out warnings like candy on Halloween. You all have been warned.
