The music in Minecraft is wonderful, im sure everyone agrees with that. But i find it odd that when i am killing various horrifying creatures, music that makes me want to stop clicking comes on. So here is the idea, Music with a bit of an upbeat pace and maybe some drums instead of piano, will fade in when a monster is within 3 blocks of you, then the music will continue until the monster is either dead and no longer exists or until you have run more than 3 blocks away. This will also act as a warning for sneaky creepers, because once the Tssssssssssss is out your dead or very injured.
The main problem to this would be the vast majority of people who prefer to use arrows. So either the top suggestion or this following one will work. In Minecraft when you battle creatures with you bow they dont always see you. So The battle music should come on when the monster has you in its sights, like when a skeleton is shooting at you or a creeper is chasing you. This way you can be fighting with melee and ranged and still get some music.

But I don't like how all this stuff like this eliminates the use of the jukebox...

Are you thinking of like a drop down menu of music in the options. Like you can choose what type of music you want. and for people who think its annoying best solution would be to add an option to turn it off.

I like the idea of having some sort of subtle battle music in Minecraft when the mobs have seen you and are chasing you. Nothing too dramatic, just some slightly more upbeat music with some percussion.
Notch should implement the iMuse system into Minecraft, now that would be awesome.

It should only be if you are under attack from 3 or more mobs, until all cease attack. The music should be chooseable and importable.

But for on topic, mabye they could change according to percentage of each foe, like "explosive" music for mostly creepers, or maybe use music from Bobby Yarsulik

Sounds like a decent idea. Battle music keys on when you aggro a mob. Simple, and fun. Music might get old after a while, but that could be fixed with a decently large selection of music.
battles dont last long at all either, they would have to get right into the intensity of the music.
I said I don't like ti because, in many games with battle music, it becomes very annoying and repetitive. Minecraft music is good because of it's rarity.
Also, It can get annoying when there is one monster running in nd out of the border, starting and stopping the battle music.
Lastly, it should not give warning about creepers. They are supposed to be silent. Hence the name creepers.

True. I suppose it'd have to be subtle and light, or just saved for bigger when. Whenever they make it into the game.
