And the redundancy of golden items continue. As stated many times before, this would degrade the unique atmosphere that golden apples bring. The same applies to the golden carrot, which is also used as a potion ingredient. Surrounding a potato in gold is a cheap method of obtaining haste.
Not enough creativity and originality was put onto this suggestion. Therefor, it is difficult for me to support.
No Support.
It is not really that redundant. You can use it to breed all animals and to get haste. Really, I put the haste in there so it wouldn't just be food for animals.
well I really want more food on minecraft but I'd rather if it wasn't a golden food. And I think thats too many animals to breed with it. I don't think we need more golden food but minecraft definetly needs more food! I would even settle for a golden food if I had to. Or Apple juice would be good...more drinks might be cool...

When I made the suggestion, I wasn't trying to make it food for players. It is meant to help breed animals and brew haste potions.
Why add more uses for potatoes? It's already the best crop for consumption if you cook it. Wheat, on the other hand, sucks and is only good for breeding cows and sheep.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?

Sheep give you wool for decoration and meat in 1.8. Cows give you meat and leather for books and decorative armor. Wheat is also a lot easier to get.
Carrots are almost as good as a baked potato when raw and it can be used to breed pigs. You can also brew potions of night vision and invisibility.
Potatoes heal the most hunger out of any crop (but not out of any food) when cooked. You rarely get a useless poisonous potato instead of a normal potato when you harvest it, too.

Wheat may be easier to get, but it's far less effective at restoring hunger than any other crop in the game (save for pumpkins if you can't get the non-pumpkin related ingredients). Breeding cows is pretty important, but otherwise wheat is crap; you only need to breed maybe 20-40 or so sheep, after which you have no reason to breed more (because you have enough) or kill them (because steak>mutton). Additionally, wheat isn't affected by Fortune whereas carrots and potatoes are.
Carrots breeding pigs is worthless when you can breed cows with wheat instead (cows are more valuable and wheat is both easier to get and less useful for other purposes), but carrots have a decent food yield for when you don't want to cook potatoes. Night vision potions are also fairly valuable (though you don't need a large carrot farm dedicated to their production), and invisibility can be useful if you're on PvP.
Potatoes are the single best foodstuff from a crop, due to having a higher yield per tile than pumpkins (which are second best) especially when you use Fortune. You do need to cook them to get any respectable value out of them, though, but coal is everywhere and blaze rods are a viable fuel source if you have Looting or a blaze farm.
Melons make it virtually impossible to starve if you have them due to their massive yield, but they have next to no saturation; they're still useful due to being required to make health potions.
Pumpkins make pumpkin pie which gives the most food out of any crop-derived food yet requires a few oddball ingredients and doesn't have very high saturation. There are also jack-o'-lanterns but glowstone looks better (admittedly subjective) and torches generally do the job just fine if you don't want glowstone for aesthetics.
Overall, the only crop more worthless than wheat is pumpkins. Wheat is pretty gimped as a food source due to not gaining extra food drops from Fortune unlike potatoes and carrots. Steak is nice, but you can easily live off of potatoes as well and leather is only useful for bookcases (which you only NEED 15 of outside of aesthetic purposes... and enchantments are OP and overkill anyway).

I agree with you bro
I did put something original into this. It can breed pretty much every animal.
Minecraft is a goofy game.

They're nerfing the amount of hunger baked potatoes and carrots heal in 1.8.
I tried adding something unique to it.
It isn't really meant for the player to eat. It is for animals and brewing haste potions.

Support. Always wanted a potion of haste
I hope it isn't the Smurfs.

Why would it need bacon and muffins? You can't taste the food in the game, so...

Oh, yay. The first golden food that is mostly used to feed animals.
Eh, golden carrots are mostly for breeding horses.
I've only used a golden carrot for that once.
What do you personally use it for the most then?

I use them for potions.
