What would it look like? Red-ish, orange, yellow when in ore state. When it is made into a solid block (will do nothing, just sort of look cool, must be crafted to fullest extent for usefulness) of sun stone, would look “brushed” like gold or red stone, but have the colors of fire (very little red, mostly orange, some yellow). When in “stone” form (most useful in this state), would look shiny and orange and be designed to look like the diamond stones and emerald stones used to trade with villagers.
Why should it be in the game? Instead of enchanting your weapons and armor with fire abilities, you just make them. I know this isn’t supposed to be something of personal opinion, but I think it would be easier because I (this is my personal opinion, and I know that) find it difficult to get the enchantment and stuff. And if you are a master at this I’m jealous, which is why I wonder if this would be a good idea since I’m not. Maybe it’s a common problem? I don’t know. You tell me.
Where is it found? Desert biomes, IN and AROUND temples found there. The “egyptians” (in game) could have used the sun stones to be closer to their sun god. (In case small background information has to be used in order for this to be relevant.) And there would be Sun Stone ore found their because maybe the egyptians didn’t finish breaking them down into useful stones. Perhaps a pile of ore in the corner of the tomb? Some stones in the chests? Mine around the base of the tomb for it?
How is it mined? Just like diamond, emerald ore. Can be crafted/ smelted into stones similar to the diamonds and emeralds. Use the sun stones with sticks to make swords, and assemble the sun stones just like diamonds to make armour. The usual recipes. Could also craft sun stones with sticks and feathers to get sun stone arrows. And just sticks for sun stone torches.
How hard is it to be found? It would be as common as Gold, but ONLY in desert biomes, where there are temples. So it’s not so common either.
How is it to be implemented? Used to make swords, and armour, arrows and torches.
Craft usage? To make armor, swords, and arrows. Could also use it as torches to repel enemies.
Usefulness of Sun Stone Sword? It would catch sun sensitive mobs on fire (Skeleton, Zombie etc). On non sun sensitive mobs (spiders, creepers, etc) it just has the effect of a sword, no fire. How to craft: One stick bottom, two sun stones above. Would be shiny and orange.
Usefulness of Sun Stone Armor? Would really only be useful on zombies, because they would catch on fire if they “bite” you. Please don’t make me go over these recipes… LOL. But place the sun stones in the usual spots for all the pieces of armor. Would be shiny and orange.
Usefulness of Sun Stone Arrows? You could hit Zombies and Skeletons from afar and set them on fire. One feather bottom, one stick middle, and one sun stone top, and you would still get 4 of them. Looks like regular arrow except shiny orange tip.
Usefulness of Sun Stone Torches: Helps with controlling borders, ALL mobs are scared of it’s brightness. Would have to be different color than regular torches to tell the difference. Could surround oneself with 4 torches and mobs just stand at the side line waiting to eat/ kill you. It would be a neat experiment. Skeletons and creepers are a problem though… LOL.Skeletons attack from distances, and creepers explode when they get close. One stick bottom, one sun stone on top. I’m thinking it would look like a redstone torch, but shiny and orange and be brighter. A white light instead of the yellow light from a regular torch. I’m not really sure how far their repelling would reach. You still want a challenge, but the sun torches still shouldn’t be useless… Hmm… Suggestions?
How strong is it? Strength… I would say similar to stone since it IS stone. Just has the fire quality to it. So you could use it “less” in theory since the fire is helping to kill the enemy quicker, but only on zombies and skeletons. Could also help repel fire damage, since it embodies the power of fire and sun
***Alternate Crafting Idea: Make your desired piece (sword, armor) out of desired material (leather, stone, iron, gold, etc.) and add one sun stone on finished product on craft table. Sort of like “socketing” on other games. To be more specific, it would work like putting dye on leather. You put the diamond shirt on the table and then put a sun stone above it and viola!! A diamond armor shirt with a lovely shiny orange bauble in the middle to set those biting zombies a flame!!! Sun Stone Torches and arrows would not work like this. Must be crafted with sunstone from the begining. Pants would have a shiny orange belt buckle. Helmet would have shiny orange jewel in middle. Shoes would have shiny orange jewel on both boots, at the top of the rim (hope that makes sense, never had to describe a boot before… LOL). And a sword would have shiny orange jewel on the hilt.
Did I miss anything? I hope not… I know it’s not bullet proof, but I assume it’s kind of the point that as a community we make the idea better to make the game better…? Or does that fall on deaf ears? :/ Anyway, hope you guys think it’d be neat like I do. If I missed anything, just ask and I’ll keep track of it, until I can make this idea fool proof!!! I have a Google Doc that I'll be editing depending on the reaction.
