It would be hostile and very aggressive towards players.
Hearts - 60 (too tough? too easy) This number may need changed to make the Croc tough yet beatable but not easy.
Drops - 3-6 leather and crocodile teeth and crocodile scales (scales and teeth would be rare drops)
Crocs would have a special attack style, they would bite you causing 1 heart of damage and cause nasuea, however this bite would lock onto you as they drag you back into their lair while they try to drown you.
New croc drops could be used in Potions and maybe a new armor (scalemail anyone? Better than Leather but not as good as Iron? Woah we would need an armor update as well then but I feel it would be worth it. Now that we have a use for the scales, what are we to do with the teeth? Croc teeth would be used in the new Roughskin potion (would give you a toughness effect allowing you to take so much extra damage).
Now for the lair - These wouldnt be too special I wouldnt think, they would just be spawning areas for crocodiles (which would respawn but at random tick intervals, Max 2 crocodiles per lair). The lair could have a chest in it with some loot (maybe some new loot perhaps or maybe just the current loot stuff). Crocodile lairs wouldnt be overly abundant but wouldnt be scarce either as we are aiming to make swamps the dangerous place they are.
I feel that the special attack and the amount of hearts that they have, along with there being two crocs to deal with in a single lair, would make this incredibly difficult and devastating to someone who unintentionally stumbles upon one of these lairs. Even if you go in prepared, having two crocs trying to bite you and drown you seems a bit tough. Also, the special attack in itself sounds a bit complex for it to be implemented into Minecraft. I will stay tuned.
yeah, not sure if the special attack can be done, and yes these are supposed to be tough, especially if you are just stumbling through the swamp, Its to keep your senses about you, right now you can just hop through a swamp like your taking a sunday stroll. Hearts can/could be adjusted as well.

crocs would seem a bit out of place in MC, i mean, we have zombies, sekeletons, creepers, giant spiders, all of them clearly monsters. having a hostile animal though...

I know everyone else wants you to click their dragons...
What does the lair look like? I assume it is on the surface?
Hearts are still adjustable
New armor, well its been asked for so many times from what I can tell, be a good way to introduce scalemail. Plus it could look really cool if done correctly.
Um is there a Resistance potion already? I know there is a fire resistance but this would be different, it would allow you to take slightly more damage against all attacks.
The lair would be pockets similar to dungeons right below and close to the surface of water pools in the swamps,
Also, why is people against adding stuff (saying it wouldnt fit in?) Ive played many games where the Enemy PC's where both skeleton/zombie and real life hostile mobs.
Im a big advocator of adding a lot more "real" mobs to minecraft as I feel they add a lot of ambience to the game and make it feel as the world is populated which is a plus for me. and to be honest only reason I suggested this have drops is because people would have thrown a fit had it no drops saying its useless. I have ideas on how to introduce quite a few "real" animals but it seems most fear/tremble anytime someone mentions adding in a "real" type Mob/animal.
Sounds more annoying than anything to fight. Pitiful damage (worse than a spider on Hard difficulty, which is already so low that iron armor renders them nigh-harmless; also only uses its pitiful attack ONCE and tries to kill you via drowning, which will take a very long time), yet it's health is high enough that you're just going to be mashing your sword into it's face for a while until it dies. It's only really a threat to a newly-spawned person who hasn't yet obtained a stone sword; they won't be able to kill it before the drowning kicks in and will probably die if they get hit by the bite. I don't know about you, but yet another mob that's balanced around a low-tier character is not a good thing to have, especially when it isn't one of the common nighttime mobs.
Scale mail is pointless. Think about it: leather armor takes longer to get than iron armor, and cows are common enemies on the surface. Introduce another armor below iron tier that takes even longer to get (due to requiring you to find a relatively rare mob in two biomes out of around 40 rather than a common mob) and you're just going to end up introducing a second set of armor no-one will ever use. It might even be even less used than leather because you can't dye it and leather is at least slightly used by newbies who don't know how easy iron armor is to get.
Roughskin is identical to the already-existing Resistance status effect as someone above stated. That might be acceptable, but at this point the potions are the only real use of the mob. I don't want a subpar mob implemented just so that another combat potion can be added in a game where combat is downright simple.
Overall, no support. Easy yet annoying to fight and drops nothing of significant importance or use.
Hearts are still adjustableI know, I was just pointing out that you needed to change them.

I would get iron before this.

This has no decent use, or good drops. If it has neither, nobody will support.

Thanks for the support so far guys, hoping to have some pictures soon of the mob/items/drops and the lair as well. Seems the people that are against the idea hate variety. Honestly there should be no other reason to add a mob other than to add aesthetics to the game, however most feel the animal/mob needs a purpose, not really sure why. I guess some people like walking through empty worlds with nothing but "passive" animals and mobs that have no chance of killing unless your playing UHC mode with no regen.

There is no reason not to add a well-designed passive or aesthetic mob (or any well-designed mob for that matter); the only real argument against it would be if there were already an extremely large amount of that kind of mob (hostile/passive/etc) or if there is a more pressing need to implement a different type of mob and it would be a waste of time to code the passive/aesthetic mob.
There are, however, many reasons to not add a poorly-designed mob. This mob in particular is poorly designed; it's hostile, yet it might as well not be because it's ridiculously easy to fight, yet at the same time it would also be annoying to fight due to its high health. Both of its rare drops are nearly worthless (scales have no other use than scalemail which is much harder to get than the superior iron armor, and by the time you get a brewing stand to put the tooth to use you already have the capability to easily fend off all mobs except for the Wither and possibly Guardians). At least it now drops leather, but that's its only use.

New armour? Why? Come up with a unique use.
Roughskin=Resistance.

What about wolves?
I really don't know what to put here...
Wolves are passive until they are attacked, I think it might be cool to have an all hostile animal
