Hello,
My idea is simple : adding two items in the game, the iron dust and the gold dust. The purpose is when you break an iron or gold ore block, you got the dust instead of the ore block itself. The dust can be smelted to obtains the iron or gold ingot and that would allow you to increase the amount of iron and gold you mine with the enchantment Fortune. ^^ And you're still able to obtain the ore block itself with Silk Touch.

I hope you like it. ^^
If smelting the dust gives you the ingot, then why bother changing anything?

Since the enchantment Fortune can't increase the amount of iron and gold because they give the block and you would be able to place it and break it again to obtains an infinite source of iron and gold. The main objective is to make Fortune work with irons and golds as well. ^^

1. Why not just suggest that?
2. Iron and Gold are kind of common enough without this is being added.
1) It's a suggestion, since I posted my thread in suggestions. ^^ Idea = Suggestion
2) It's your* right to consider it pointless, but I think it's up to Mojang to decide. Mojang doesn't frequent this place (weird, I know), and it's ultimately up to the fans to decide if it's even worth Mojang's time to check this. If it's a stalemate of support/no supports, then it might not go through. Also: *you're (sorry, I had to)

You see, Mojang already decided when they made it so that fortune doesn't work on iron and gold. The point is to smelt those items.Iron is already abundant enough.

You're the fool who didn't understand in the first place. ExDomino meant that for Fortune to work on gold/iron, the block will break into a simpler version, the dust or chunk. This way, you can get more than one dust or chunk from a single gold/iron ore block. But sadly there is more than enough gold and iron in any world. Nice idea though.
Saying that this shouldn't be implemented because "there is plenty of iron and gold" isn't a valid argument; should they prevent Fortune from working on coal because coal is so common? Or lapis, which already drops 4-8 pieces from a single ore (that's up to half a stack with Fortune)? Or diamond, which becomes more common than gold when you mine it with Fortune (it is only slightly more common at typical mining levels; even Fortune I offsets this). Ask the people who make iron and gold farms because it is too time-consuming to mine (granted, in 1.8 you can just make them more common). Also, this would have zero effect on how easy it is to start a new world because you need to make an enchanting setup to get Fortune.
Sorry. I just feel like people should elaborate on why they don't agree and they should be corrected if they didn't understand. Didn't mean to call you a fool.
I want to like the idea, but I know that mojang probably won't change anything because if they wanted to do this sort of thing, they would have done it by now.

I agree that fortune should in some way affect iron and gold. This would be a good way of doing it so long as it's pretty rare, though I doubt mojang will add it.
SUPPORT!
Also, your is correct. You're would be saying "It's you are right to consider it pointless, but I think it's up to Mojang to decide."

Nice to see you guys again.

Ya... seems pointless

But I'm almost sure it's "your". XD

It's true that iron and gold are abundant, but I just thought it would be a good idea to make them working with Fortume as well.

No support.
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
No, no it's not.
OT:
I have mixed feeling about this suggestion, I can't figure out if I like it or not.
50% support I guess.
