I was wondering if any of you would be actually interested into seeing drinking/thirst in Minecraft. That would mean that after some time you start being thirsty and have to drink water bottles to regenerate or you loose hearts.
You could also be dehydrated faster if you would be in the desert. And players could have water poisoning because of sea water.
I know plenty of mods already exist with that sort of thing but I would actually like to see be implemented into vanilla Minecraft. But of course, there could be a button that would disable it when you set up your world or it could be only in Hardcore mode.
Anyway, thirst would be too annoying. The thing about hunger is that it is easier to find food than water bottles, also you can have a variety of foods. Also, we don't need another meter to worry about in survival.
Minecraft would be a world of terror. To much work man. If I where to play UHC, I already would have so many things are on my mind, I don't need another problem in the game which have errors they have to fix. Plus its a lot of work for Mojang too, so think about it. Not the best idea yet. Sorry.
I wouldn't mind it necessarily, but my hotbar is already too full. I have a pickaxe, sword, shovel, axe, bow, food, and enderpearls taking up most of the room. That only leaves 2 spaces for building blocks or torches when mining. Having water on the bar as well would just be too much.

The only things (so far) that could cure thirst are Milk Buckets and Water Bottles, which means most players would die within 30 seconds of starting the game. Otherwise, Mojang would need to add some new technique to allow players to drink from Water Buckets or straight-up Water source blocks. And god forbid you spawn in the middle of a desert biome.
In other words, adding thirst would be disasterous. No support.

You would die in the middle of a desert biome and what's the point of it anyway? It would just ruin the game.
NO SUPPORT
You would die in a desert biome too if you didn't have food with you. I know OPs suggestion is stupid but your argument isn't exactly rock solid either.

They didn't add dehydration for the same reason they aren't adding obesity, anemia, sodium count, carbohydrates, etc. Would just be too much.
Those things would all make a great mod though...
No, not really, we don't want more tedious health bars. If ONE. MORE. THING. needs to be checked every 3 minutes, I swear I'm going back to Terraria.
We have item durability, armour durability, health, hunger and light levels to worry about.

EGGS NEED LESS CLICKS! DRAGONS NEED MORE! CLICK THE PICTURE SO HE CAN GROW! IF YOU DON'T CLICK, HE DIES! IF HES HIDDEN IN FOG, HE NEEDS NO CLICKS AND IS SICK!
For godsake people just stop suggesting this. Stupid idea. 2x2 square and infinite water, also if you need to drink for bottles, this can be infinitely fill from one water source. Wast of time and inventory space(for a water bucket).
Would you guys at least think about this?! You wouldn't have to drink as often as you eat AND food also has water value to it. For instance, all fruits and vegetables have a water value, especially water melons and potions. The only foods that would not have a water value would be crafted foods except for Mushroom Stew and Rabbit Stew.
Obviously, to measure hydration you would need another meter to measure it with, so, we need a hydration bar. The hydration bar would be a 10 point system just like all of its counterparts. The hydration bar would not be as active as the hunger bar, however, in the Desert, Jungle, Mesa, and Nether biomes it would deplete 2x as fast when compared to its standard state of function which would be 1 point every 5 minutes when in limited motion in any other biome. And just because the hydration bar is full does not mean the player cannot drink a potion or not eat food until it has gone down a bit. The player can still drink and eat even if the bar is full.
The water values of food would be as follows: Carrots, potatoes, and apples replenish 1/2 a point on the hydration bar, water melon slices replenish 1 point on the hydration bar, water bottles, both stews, and all potions replenish 3 points on the hydration bar, and the bucket of water would replenish 10 points of hydration, so, basically the entire hydration bar no matter what level it is at.
Plus, if Mojang where to add drinking, it would open doors to several new items that have possible effects. Such as: bottles of milk (instead of buckets of milk), beer, wine, ale (just for the sake of diversity, they all have the same effect which I will address shortly), and choclate milk (for aesthetic purposes only). Milk would have the same effect that it currently has, which is poison curing. Beer, wine, and ale, as stated earlier, all have the same effect, which is drunkeness (what a surprise). Drunkeness has down sides and upsides to it, the upside is that increases the damage delt by the player and slightly increases the players damage resistance (almost like alcohol) the downside is that the player cannot walk straight, is harder to control, and cannot run (just like alcohol).
And, finally, assuming beer, wine, and ale are added, a brewing function would have to be added, which means a brewing stand would have to be added to Minecraft.
Just my two cents. I like the idea a lot and would love to see it added, it's just that it needs a few tweaks.
