I think that in the resource pack tab, there should be an option for Optifine put there be default. This would help players have less lag and an overall better time in minecraft.
Why don't they just install it them selves??
Well, not everyone knows how. It would be much more convenient for newer players.

1. Redundant.
2. Then they should look at the OP or look up a tutorial.
They have already asked the maker of Optifine for permission to put it in Minecraft as default. But the maker refused the offer, so it probaly will never happen.

No support. Seriously, if the play can't be bothered to get an actual gaming computer for (you guessed it) gaming then at least let them be bothered to install a mod. Plus with the last updates, there has been some more video options for FPS increase. Also this what Angledemon said.

I wonder what they think of the addition of features from Optifine, such as the brightness slider (yes, Optifine added that first), mipmapping, and render distance adjustable in 1 chunk increments.
That said, Optifine does more than just improve FPS; the chunk loading options are much better than the default; no more chunks not rendering correctly, especially failing to render until you reach them, which is the whole reason I installed it in the first place (plus it significantly reduces lag spikes, even if FPS isn't changed much).
Of course, they should rewrite the chunk update or whatever code that causes severe lag in jungles since 1.7 for many people; I actually think that this is why jungles were made much rarer (they also removed large oak trees from forests due to lag; official source; ironically, it is easy to modify the branches (add extra logs) to prevent leaf decay); when the real issue (jungles cause no lag for me in 1.6 and earlier) is some badly "optimized" code in the game (true, leaf decay may be the underlying problem but other code changes made it much more apparent, and those code changes likely affect the performance in general as many other things cause chunk updates).
Ummmmm, it's actually so simple to get it, only the stupidest person wouldn't know how (No names under that list yet....hopefully...). If you go on Skydaz, you can install it directly if the game has already been installed. This takes about 10-20 seconds to do. No support, too easy to obtain.

That's no reason not to include it; there are people who are totally against any sort of mod, even mods like Optifine, for one reason or another and telling people to install a mod is not a reason to not support a suggestion. If anything, the mod supports the suggestion as a proof-of-concept (i.e. like the Cubic Chunks suggestion; a real working mod, which is being worked on, might convince Mojang that it is viable; many other things from mods have been added).

They don't have to ask. But they usually do it as a protocool.
No, RedAbsol0. You can't just steal someone else's code and redistribute it. Maybe in Sweden, but not worldwide. There's nothing preventing Mojang from optimizing their game on their own, though. Adding features like a brightness slider is fine.

What's wrong with Mojang just including it in the first place? More convenience. Also, Optifine isn't always updated immediately, and little kids get baited into installing malware when going to download stuff. If you go through Adfly to the Optifine site without an ad blocker, you will most likely see around 5 fake download buttons before you click that little download link on optifined.net.

It's good to install the mod no matter what computer you are using.

Actually, with their new EULAs, they can.
The EULA has not changed since December of 2013.
As for the suggestion, the creator of Optifine does not want Mojang to implement it into the game. Although Mojang doesn't need their permission according to the EULA, they respect the wishes of the creators and decided not to implement it.

That's it, I'm tired of this excuse. Just because something is also in a mod, doesn't mean it shouldn't also be in vanilla. Enchanting was a mod, Got added. Horses were part of a mod, Got added. Sticky Pistons were a mod, got added. I'm pretty sure bunnies were in a mod like Mo' Creatures, and what do you know, they got the whole thing working on the latest snapshot.
And besides, even a simple mod could corrupt your saves. Even simply downgrading deletes your items, even from chests, so who KNOWS what would happen if something inject some foreign data, previously unknown to the game, and it didn't go well.
And calling someone lazy and forcing them to just download a mod is just alienating newcomers of the community.

I Support, but this is sort of redundant.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Constantly evolving, reaching further heights.

could you please explain me how to install optifine for 14w27b, my good sir? if you answer that, I will not support this idea.
edit: "wait until it's updated" is not a acceptable excuse, by the way.

So you're telling me it does not say "Updated: 11 December 2013 15:22"
It just links back the suggestions page.
Ummm no it doesn't. Go to the actual EULA regardless.
Whoops, I clicked it in the quote. Guess it does.
