I got this idea the other day I breeded my cats and dogs the other day, and i thought:
"Wouldn't it be fun to have the kittens (also horses, wolfs, sheep, etc.) be babies forever?!"
then i thought:
"But what if it was just a normal potion? It wouldnt do anything to you if you drank it."
Soooo....
They should be splash potions.
They would have no effect on the player.
They would be redish pinkish potions. like this. If not, any color.
The potion would be permanent.
After the potion is applied they cant breed.
Potion has to be applied while they are babies, or the potion will be wasted with no affect.
It would work with all friendly mobs.

Who doesn't want to have a puppy instead of a dog ? They will look cute , but maybe make particles last 2 minutes only , and then they stop . How about also add an inverted potion called the Elder potion that makes baby animals grow ( this includes zombies ) instantly ? when a player is affected with it ( either drinking it or getting hit by the splash potion ) he will take more damage from hits ( since old people have weaker bones and thus a bigger chance of breaking them )
Being a nerd is nothing to be ashamed of. Nerds rule the world! Who invented the internet? Nerds. Who created personal computers and smart phones? Nerds. Who made every video game you've ever played and ever will? Still nerds. Who sent probes to distant planets? Nerds, nerds and more nerds! I'm a nerd and I'm proud.
Or we can just keep the current mechanics without weird 'youth' potions. It's not like Minecraft is an Olay sponsored game with 'Olay Rejuvenation Cream'.
This potion is redundant. Who would want they're pets to stay young longer? Grown up wolves are much more useful. This wouldn't really be helpful and what if the player drinks the potion? Your idea is too vague and irrelevant. No support.

Why would the Elder potion affect the player and not the youth potion? Also, how do you brew an Elder potion?
I'd want to have a dog instead of a puppy, because dogs are more useful.
I support this. People seem to forget how everyone was gushing over how cute the baby animals are when they debuted. Some things can be just for aesthetics.
That said, not big on the idea of it being a potion, but don't know of a good alternative. If the potion is cheap like wheat or an egg it would be cheap enough to balance the fact it has no game changing use.

I like the idea, but I don't really think it's necessary. Baby animals really don't have any purpose besides just sitting there, and that would get old. No support.
This is a cool idea, but for it to be implemented, there would need to be a 'grow' potion to counteract the 'youth' potion's effects and allow them to age normally again.

So maybe you don't have to use the potion? There is no reason to reject an idea that other people might enjoy having implemented if it does not alter any other game mechanics. It is simply adding another feature that some people might enjoy. If you don't like it, don't use it. That doesn't mean other people can't have fun with it. It's not like it will suck the fun out of the game for anybody else.
I don't normally go on rants, but I see this kind of behavior WAY too often on the forum.
Rules of thumb:
If a potential new feature alters game mechanics and you don't like it, feel free to voice your opinion.
If a potential new feature is just an add-on and will not bother other aspects of the game and will not cause any issues, and you don't like it, feel free to say so, but don't fight it and make it more difficult for it to be implemented. If it's not going to negatively impact YOUR enjoyment of the game, there is no need to detract from other people's enjoyment.
Yes , not every one likes to have a dog or cat . Even if they are more useful , why not keep them as cute little baby animals ? Just for aesthetics , nothing wrong with it , So why won't you support ?

Yes. the grow potion would make sense.
I think the recipe would probably be something with eggs,
since sometimes baby chickens hatch from eggs. I think
the crafting recipe (or brewing recipe) should have things
in it easy to get so it wouldnt change the game so much.
Anyone have ideas what the recipe should be?

Constantly evolving, reaching further heights.

Partial support, it's just a little vague. Like other are saying, there should be a 'grow' potion as well, and what will the recipe be?
