Coral isn't just a rock. It's a colony of millions of living creatures called polyps.

I suggest adding living coral to the ocean. It would be a pink rock with an animated texture, so that it appears that dozens of tiny white polyps (each represented by a single pixel) are constantly emerging and hiding. It'd be beautiful. Imagine swimming through a hulking mass of pink coral, twinkling with white dots all around you.

Coral would have a functional use too. They would lose their animated texture when not touching water, and appear as just plain pink rock. Comparators would be able to detect the difference between animated and unanimated coral, allowing you to use the block as a compact water detector.
