What do we have here? We have many people requesting new features and only a few people (Mojang workers) to implement them. The biggest limit on the amount of features that can be added in an update is the speed at which these features can be created and/or improved.
Hundreds of modifications have been published for Minecraft, but they have remained exactly that: somewhat compatible features for an already-finished game. They generally are not really popular and do not work on multiplayer servers despite improving the gameplay. But what if the mods could become part of the game?
Please keep an open mind and imagine this.
Minecraft modders can program their own changes to the game and send the modded version of Minecraft to Mojang developers. Those developers can then decide whether or not this new modified version should become the new "Minecraft." Obviously these changes would be fairly small (as small as a new sound for destroying a certain block type) but they would be improvements, and this would improve the speed at which Minecraft grows. If this were implemented, we could have daily snapshots instead of weekly snapshots. There could also be a small cash reward for successfully creating a feature.
Pros
1. More updates in less time
2. Greater diversity and creativity in features Cons
1. Possibly legal issues
2. Unlikely but possible sneaking in of hidden features
What do you say? Are you ready to see more updates?
