love it!, but to add to your collection of stones: a ghoststone, a semi-transparent gem found in the nether, equally as rare as finding a spider jockey, and onyx, a black stone found rarely deep underground, or semi-rarely in the nether

I love the ghoststone idea! Perhaps you could craft it into a ring for i don't knows, Invisibility?
When I first saw the Emerald Sword being the most powerful, I went "YES!! EMERALDS RULE!!! W0000000TTTTTTT!!!!! EPICNESSS!!!!!!" because emeralds are my favourite jewel :biggrin.gif: You should also make emerald scythes (improved speed by 30% for emerald, 50% on average, deals 3-4 damage average, 7-8 for emerald, and is like the axe, but 3 sticks) Also, you should add rubies, and opals. Rubies should only be able to be found under desert biomes, and opals under plains and deserts. Rubies will have a 1/10 chance of spawning, and opals a 1/35 chance.
Sunstones are the rarest gems in the game, For numerous reasons. One: They only spawn at mid day, and have a 1/ 200 chance of doing it.
(...)
The most prestigious of the swords would be the Pearl Sword, Because it is the rarest of all gems. It has a 1 / 50 chance of showing up on a Beach biome because it's supremely dense.
Greetings. I highlighted a contradiction in red. You might want to re-word this in the OP. Thanks. :-)
I think this is a good idea but you made it a little bit too complicated.

Think about it. Really think about it good.

I've just seen the first few posts of this thread, and it's pretty damn awesome so far. Biome-specific gems have been an idea thats been floating round my mind for a long time and the way they are expressed here is the best i've ever seen. i'd love to see them get inplemented ingame.
It would add more tiers to the game in general, and open up windows both into adv. Pvp and adventure mode.
Just though you may wanna know, there is a game called GemCraft: Link Removed
And it's sequel: Link Removed
Both are very good tower defense games, first part being my favorite.
This mod is awesome as well, good job!

Heh XD. And yes, I knew about GemCraft. This was originally going to be SwordCraft, Then BladeCraft, now GemCraft because the gems are the base of mechanics.
The general idea, I think, is that everything should be multiplayer supported, since that is minecraft's ultimate goal.
From what i see, thye spawn like diamond, except for sunstone and moonstone, which just spawn.
They will spawn like ores, The only reason most are rare is that they only spawn in specified biomes

Invisibility?
They spawn UNDER biomes in an ore like form.
You might want to fix that.
On topic: I like this idea. Swords with effects, and valuable gems, are going to be near torture for me. I tend to collect stuff and display it.
+1 for your idea.

EDIT: On that, what about black pearls? A pearl made by animals such as mollusks.
