First of all this is not a hate topic! I just love Minecraft. And my english is a little bit :SSSS:y!
But, Beta is coming and I just wanted to state my feelings about this game right now...
I bought Minecraft this July and I was amazed! And the world generator is just :Diamond:!
But there is still something missing, I miss the adventure, I miss a goal for me to mine and to build so many houses....
Just shortly after I bought Minecraft, I started playing Dwarf Fortress... Maybe that’s why I'm missing so many things on Minecraft.
All my ideas are probably here already but anyway, this is my personal Minecraft Gold Edition:
Think about if the World Generator not only would randomly create world biomes but also:
A random world history
+ Random npc's (villagers, looters....)
+ Random sizes of villages (small ones or even castles)
+ Random ruins of villages and castles...
+ Weather system (raining, snowing)
+ Random treasures:
-> could be everything....including artifacts that would help you with special abilities...
-> would be protected by mobs...the bigger the treasure the harder the guardian (dragons anyone?)
That would make the Minecraft World be really interesting to explore
Now for the player's ultimate goal:
+building houses (with beds) spawns settlers if you "reputation" is right
+each bed belongs to a settler
+"reputation" means a balance between: wealth (gold and diamonds you have), strength (how many mobs did you killed?), protector (how many of your settlers died before), treasure hunter (how many treasures did you conquer), miner (how much did you mine yet?)
+the more settlers the more mobs will come after them and you during the night!
+settlers dont do anything (yet :biggrin.gif:)
I have tons of idea left but I don’t want to get to excited...
Id love to see ruins and villages, im pretty sure that notch has confirmed them. as for the settleres/reputation, its wandering a bit close to RPG for me :tongue.gif:
Hmmmm I am split here what I did is ust that except with smp so try that out on a new server for some resin I don't like developed ones... I don't know why.

"Minecraft will reach Beta status on December 20th, 2010.
With Beta comes a larger focus on polish and content, and we’ll start early on with adding proper modding support with a stable API, and we’d love all input we can get on this from the modders out there. We’ll also add some kind of non-intrusive narrative to the game to help drive the game experience early on, and to provide some kind of late game goal. There will be a bigger focus on testing and stability as well, with more time between updates."
I understand where you're coming from. When I play Minecraft, I feel like I'm reading chapter 1 of a book over and over again. However Minecraft needs to have the basics before it can grow. When Notch was working on the October 31st update I was reading a lot of threads from angry players saying to the effect that Notch no longer cared about the broken Minecraft multiplayer. I feel that for Minecraft to survive; Notch needs to focus on building a stable game even if it means that Minecraft can only compete with basic lego games.
Maybe in Minecraft Gamma, we'll have a free Alpha (or just alpha single player) with that gold edition you were talking about.
Or MAYBE Minecraft Gamma will be this Gold Edition you're talking about. Donate to Mojang and Notch and we'll find out a few hours (or days, or weeks) quicker.

Some Hostile and Neutral. You can over-run or just destroy the village or castle. This would be cool, but Castles would have to be rare. Such as castles are also harder to destroy. Creeper King sounds awesome even tho its not a npc its a mob :< lol. But yea I'd love to have random villages/castles that are hostile and neutral to where you have the option of killing them or keeping them for a resource kinda thing. If you go hostile, every time you go near it til you kill the king they attacked you, and the king is hard to kill in some way? :biggrin.gif:
I like the idea of random castles and villagers but the villagers should have some warriors and the castles should definitely have guards and stuff. And castles should be like small and stuff, it would be kind of fail if you just find a giant castle, conquer it, and use it as your main base, because your main base should be something you built yourself, and I have a feeling a lot of lazy people would do that and then go like, "Hey guys, look at what I made! I'm so pro!".
BUT THIS IS SOMETHING I REALLY WANT TO SEE!
YOUR ALLIES RAIDING MOB CASTLES. MOBS RAIDING YOUR ALLIES. EPIC GIANT BATTLES BETWEEN MOBS, NEUTRAL, ENEMY OR ALLY. YOUR ALLIES COMING TO YOU ASKING WHETHER OR NOT YOU WANT TO JOIN THEIR NEXT RAID. MOBS COMING TO YOU PERSUADING YOU TO JOIN THE DARK SIDE WHILE PROMISING RICHES. YOUR ALLIES RUNNING TO YOU IN THE HEAT OF WAR ASKING FOR HELP. EVENTS. DONE.
GUYS THAT ARE YOUR ALLIES.

Minecraft is for the exploration. The discovery of giant mines in spots you've never expect, to a giant wave of ground breaching into the sky, that's what Minecraft is about.
Not story, not NPCs, not some trading system.
Minecraft at it's core is simple, but for that reason is what gives it it's beauty.

And how would adding a story make it not simple? How would adding NPCs not make it simple (we actually already have them)?
I support some sort of randomly generated backstory. Would be nice to be able to collect books that slowly reveal the history of your world and how you got there. I would also love to see many more variables in the world generation. The more diverse the worlds can get, the better.
Personally, I don't like the idea of inhabited villages. I like the idea of you being all alone in an unknown world. Also, the ultimate goal shouldn't be building houses, imo. Would have something to do with going deep underground.

I'm not talking about a RPG with Quests! I'm talking about more random stuff in the world an a goal! just that... I think that everything that I mentioned would be simple in Minecraft.
I think we all agree that Minecraft is coming to Beta, and now it is the time to add more stuff into the game or else in one year we will lose the interest in mining...a empty world just isnt enought!
Yeah and think how cool it would be if you were just randomly walking around and then you see a bunch of humans fighting a bunch of skeletons in an epic battle. Like there wouldn't really be a story, they just hate eachother.
And it would be cool to have events like one night there is a zombie appocalypse and they can break down your doors and stuff and climb walls, the next night creepers are just catapulting them selves into your walls, then the next the zombies and skeletons team up trying to kill the creepers and spiders, and then THE NEXT NIGHT the slimes make their way from the bottom of the earth to the top, the next night monsters from the nether travel through your portal and try to destroy you.
yorkville head back to whatever world you came from. Some people actually don't want RPG elements so don't be such a selfish person thinking about only yourself. I would like RPG elements but not if it means wrecking minecrafts community and throwing out the fun in minecraft and turning it into a ****ty World of Warcraft remake. Personally I think WoW sucks, then I came upon minecraft sand I've been playing this game before indev or infdev were removed, and before infdev was out. Next don't be such a thinking about yourself...
Minecraft shouldn't have horrible RPG features, instead it should have very flexible modding and such.
It's damn obvious that games with a flexible modding system last much longer, take a look at Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
It was made in like 2005 and people still play it because of mods people have made, although they released the Multiplayer source code, but assuming Minecraft had a good modding system and with the playerbase it has right now it could advance pretty far into the future.
Excuse me if this makes no sense, I didn't really think the post out.

Celebrating the full version with the fan is going to be an amazing experience. I am a bit nervous about it, to be honest.

Tell me folks what do you think???
In fact DF kills motivation to play Minecraft. Dwarves are just funner that way I guess...

I just know that there is a huuuuge potential for Minecraft and I think that we all know it.
So I ask myself will Notch ever add our suggested contend? If not could it be possible for us to add that stuff?

Adding any sort of npc based trading system would ruin the theme, you are supposed to be a SURVIVOR not a creeper-fighting door-to-door salesman!
Fix the search bar? Learn to fix it yourself!

But seriously this game is not even near it's peak, people still are buying it, you know the game is great when people are still buying it.
Only when people start to stop buying then Notch will probably have put in like everything :tongue.gif:
This game is alpha dammit, I have never seen a game in alpha that is so good
