Going to reorganize this whole post to better answer questions. So I've been playing Minecraft for a few weeks now with my friends, who introduced me to this game. After playing for all these weeks, I've had the urging to create some blocks/game elements for Minecraft (not that Notch will add these or anything but...). Here, I'll be posting blocks pertaining to this little project of mine+some other blocks I may make for fun. Feel free to say what you think about it. Now, enough introductions...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JurassiCraft: New blocks 65 million years in the making.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dinosaurs in Minecraft? Madness. The dinosaurs wouldn't be found in the main world. They would be found in another dimension via a portal or something similar (Like the Nether). Still thinking about the concept on how to get to this dimension myself...
Hitpoints: ?
Drops: Dino Egg, Meat Block (x4), Raptor Claw
Threat Status: Dangerous
Speed: Fast
Jump: High
Attack: Air kick. Can knockback.
Damage: ?
*Can be a possible mount under certain conditions.
Hitpoints: ?
Drops: Ivory (x2), Wooly Blocks, Meat Block (x8)
Hostility: Neutral-Passive
Speed: Slow
Jump: Low
Attack: Punctures with tusks.
Damage: -6 hearts ?
*Can be tamed to hold 2 big chests via feeding it wheat/flowers.
*When killed, it won't disappear. Instead, it will drop to it's feet and become destroyable like other blocks. Can craft (hollow it out. Meat can be found inside.) it into a small house in this state.
*Able to be found frozen in arctic/snowy biomes. Must thaw it out to reanimate.
Hitpoints: ?
Drops: Tyrant's Tooth, Meat Block (x?)
Hostility: Aggressive
Speed: Slow-Medium
Jump: Low
Attack: A bone-crushing blow with it's jaws.
Damage: Auto-KO. Player loses any items in the active inventory box.
*Once it see's attack target, it gains the ability to smash through leaf, wood, cobblestone, dirt, and other notable materials except obsidian.
*The Tyrant's Tooth can be crafted into the Tyrant's Symbol with 2 Fossils of any kind and String. Prevent's most of the other dinosaurs from attacking you. (Pending)
Feathered Version
Hitpoints: 2
Drops: Dino Egg (Feathered Version drops Feathers as well)
Hostility: Aggressive/Passive
Speed: Fast
Jump: High
Attack: SWARM.
Damage: Half a heart of damage.
*These guys spawn in groups of 5 and will swarm the player upon sight. If there are only 2 Compys within a certain area, they will flee instead of attacking.
"Creeperzilla were par to par with Tyrannosaurus Rex on controlling the top of the food chain at the end of the Cretaceous Period. However, this kingly status didn't last for long. 65 million years ago, an asteroid collided with the planet. However, much to the belief of modern scientists, it didn't kill the dinosaurs off. Rather, it just released enough space dust to block out the sun for 24 hours. The impact instead made every single Creeperzilla on the planet pissed off that they couldn't get sun tans in time for the beach party. So they went kamikaze, killing off the dinosaurs and leaving a large crater in the Gulf of Mexico. This of course sent profits plummeting and gas prices to go up. But fret not. Amongst the chaos, the ancestor of the Pig evolved and split into two species: The Pig and the Creeper. Get the ref, and you win diamonds."
-------------------------------------------------
Hitpoints: ?
Drops: x10 TNT Blocks
Hostility: Aggressive
Speed: Slow
Jump: Low
Attack: A hell's load of explosive power. Blows up anything within a 15x15 radius. *Note: Explosion has the same strength as TNT.
Damage: No hope, no survival. Those barely caught within the blast will have only half a heart of health left.
*Note: These are really rare, somewhat comparable to the spawn rate of a Time Anomaly.
Ankylosaurus will walk passively in the world until it sees danger (Raptors, T-rex) and will proceed to swing it's tail in that direction. A player can use this to avoid/hunt nearby T-rex or Raptors. However, if the player attacks an Ankylosaurus, it will retaliate with it's tail or a full charge ram. Touching an Ankylosaurus will produce the same effect as touching cacti. Ouch. An Ankylosaurus will be able to smash blocks with it's tail or ram in a similar power to the T-rex when in conflict.
Aside from swinging at things, the Ankylosaurus will eat any Leaf Blocks it can reach, as well as flowers. It will happily eat any that a player gives to it, but it will still attack if the player hits it afterwards. The Ankylosaurus will stop attacking when the the threat is gone from it's visual range. (FYI This is a fairly small visual range.)
-------------------------------------------------
Hitpoints: ?
Drops: Meat Block x4, Armor Plate (Craftable into armor)
Hostility: Neutral
Speed: Slow
Jump: Low
Attack: A powerful smack with it's tail club./Full body ram.
Damage: Will Auto-KO player if he/she is not wearing iron armor and up./5 Hearts
-------------------------------------------------
Hitpoints: Varies
Drops: None? Upon death, spawns a Tar Block in it's place.
Hostility: Aggressive
Speed: Average
Jump: Low
Attack: It tackles you like a normal Slime does.
Damage: Varies
This giant dino bird is a rare sight in JurassiCraft (Not as rare as Creeperzilla mind you), soaring overhead alone or with a companion. Normally non-aggressive, it will dive down and raise you into the air for a deadly drop if provoked. On foot, it will attempt to run away for flight (cannot fly away unless there's a wide enough space) or attack you with it's beak. One can lure a Quetzacoatlus if you kill a large dinosaur when one's near the player. Dropping some fish also works. Though, either way is risky due to other predators being attracted to your spoils. Possible to tame for flight. Though, I'm still unclear on if this is an appropriate trait for this beast.
-------------------------------------------------
Hitpoints: 20?
Drops: Meat Blocks, Fish (x8-10)
Hostility: Neutral
Speed: (Air) Fast, (Land) Slow
Jump: Low
Attack: (Air) Dive and grab / (Land) Beak jab
Damage: Varies / 5

* If stepped on, player's/mob's movement greatly slowed and height decreased slightly.
* Standing too long in tar after a few seconds will immobilize player/mob completely. Overtime, player/mob will slowly lose health.
*To escape, one must have a Flint and Steel/ Bucket w/Lava (only recommended when not stuck) to ignite Tar (will not spread to other surrounding Tar Blocks). Also using gravity affected blocks (Sand/Gravel) to fall on top of player will remove the Tar Block, however endangering the player of suffocation.
* Can be collected via Bucket (another escape method) to use as a mob trap. Cannot collect drops however.
*Fossils are occasionally around tar pits.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clock Face Block
x4 Time Fragments, x1 Clock
*Placeable like a ladder. Tells time of day.
Fossil Brush
x4 Sticks, x3 Feathers
*Allows for easier excavation of Fossil Blocks.
These blocks are rarely (1-5% chance) found in the world, above and underground. They have the same light range as Glowstone and are as fragile as glass. Despite that, you can walk through it like water/portals (which animates like such). Depending on the size of the rift, certain prehistoric animals can be found around it or coming out from it. These normally would be raptors, pterosaurs, and compys. When broken, 4 Time Fragments are dropped, which is exactly how much is needed to recreate a Time Anomaly Block.
Great idea, especially the new block suggestions! Maybe there could be different type of fossil blocks, such as fossilized shells and plants. Fossils could be crafted into armor or weapons. Fossilized teeth can be used to create stronger arrows while the skull can be used as a helmet. Great idea so far!
Though, personally, I would have called it FossilCraft.

I may do more fossil variants later such as a sauropod fossil selection. Plus, I like the idea of fossil weaponry since I already made a helmet. Glad you like my idea!
And JurassiCraft just has some kind of ring to it that I like. But hey, opinions are opinions. ^^
Great idea!
And while I don't know 100% about fossils, I'm pretty sure that they're supposed to be fragile, and they aren't really that strong. I'd think that the fossil blocks should be changed to weak instead of medium. But thats just my opinion, and maybe you have to dig it out with a shovel, and if you use a pick axe, you 'break' the block, and don't get any reward from it.
Great idea!

You do have a point. I classified the blocks as Weak (Dirt, Sand, Cacti), Medium (Cobblestone, Iron, Gold), Strong (Obsidian), and Invulnerable (Bedrock). I think fossils wouldn't be weaker than sand (unless you pulverize it to bits lol) but they definitely would be somewhere along those lines. I'll change the durability for the fossils to Medium.
I typed a long reply but it didn't send so I had to start again. I'll summarise it.
I don't like the way its random what part you get (I know i would end up with loads of a part and none of the part I need.)
I think losing 4 fragments when you make a fossil block is a bit much, maybe it could be made like this:
(no loss)
or
(1 fragment loss)
The blocks would be almost as rare as diamond (you get 4 when you find one though, so it balances out)
Maybe the fragments could all be shaped differently
(there would be as many different shapes as there are parts in the dinosaur its designed to make) (you can mix parts to make your own custom creation :biggrin.gif:) so for this t-rex like dino it would be 5 diffrent shapes fragmants, when you have 9(8) (it might be difficult to do 9 if you get 4 per fossilbock so maybe 8 with a hole in the middle because its hollow?) of a single shape (a Z shape for example) you can fit them together in a crafting table to make a part.
(Edit) Also the unmined fossil block should be regular strength in explosions etc BUT when mined it should take AGEEEESSS because you have to be careful like a real archeologic digsite maybe the damage you do to it when you mine WONT reset when you click away like it does on other blocks, so you can dig it one day then come back tomorow and continue so it takes alot of time.
Hmm...I like that. I'll make the necessary adjustments, though, I'll need to think on the layout of the fossil part blocks first before updating it. Thanks! ^^

How do you make those blocks???? and the picture???
and how you post em??

For the pics and blocks, it takes a combination of Photoshop and Flash. And to post a pic, use the IMG code above the typing box when you post a comment.

And we got our first creature! (And my first creature I attempted to make)
Maybe it could drop the thumbspike, which can be crafted to make powerful variants of the sword and arrow.
Lol probably the perspective. That would be pretty cool using an Iguanodon's spike as a weapon of your own. I'll think of a concept for that...Dino Weapons/Armor. Yeah...8D
You should add raptors next, they are the coolest things ever.
Imagine laughing over your tower at some skeletons and zombies when there is an obvious entrance on the other side. Of course, the mobs are too stupid to know that. At least... most of them are...
Then imagine turning around and seeing a pack of four raptors entering through that entrance. And realizing that you're screwed.
How does it lift its arms high enough to spike you?
Probably rear a bit upwards enough to swipe at ya before landing back down. And I just noticed how small the legs look lol. ^^;

So you wake up on a beach one day, and remember NOTHING. (Except your degree teachings in Engineering, Wilderness Survival, Metal work, Physics, Tech, Psychology, History, Dynamics, and Blocks.) You mine and build and survive for years and years.
This is how I imagine the Jurassic world will work:
The dinosaurs would only be found in another place like the nether, so how about a kind of magic time machine that can take you to dino world, I don't know how it would be made, maybe you need diamonds or fossils parts or something. Basicly the prehistoric world is like the surface world, Unlike the nether which is randomly generated.
The Jurrasic would be similar in landscape to your current world when it was first generated (It makes a copy of every chunk when they generate and adds it to the Jurassic, that way it wont have you house in it or any holes dug my you)
The grass will be very dark and the biomes will be different, i.e. more forest biomes, but the trees will be different and the 2 flower types and will be different, like ferns or something and will cover everywhere.
If you go to a place in the Jurassic that you havn't explored on the surface it generate a new chunk and add it to the surface world as well as the Jurassic world. (If you get what I mean)
There will be no spiders ,zombies ,skeletons or creepers but instead only Dinosaurs and Pterodactyls will fly through the sky like ghasts in the nether. There will also be no or or chickens or cows, but maybe some ancient mammals you can get rare pelts from or food.
Another Idea is that the world will look different to the regular mine craft world, because of continental drift or whatever.
EDIT: Also if the world is the same as regular minecraftworld the rare minerals in the ground, coal, iron, redstone, gold, diamonds, will be replace by stone and then replaced so there in different places. Also there will be no fossils in the Jurassic world (Obviously)
But if you are in the past and change something shouldn't it change the present too?
Anyway i would like this time machine (maybe being able to go to the future too???)
