this is a cool ide i just got and it really compements the npc village.
what if mobs could evolve,not all of them of course but let`s take pigmen as an example,at the begining of your journey to nehter,pigmen would have around 5% probabilities to have bows,but as the game advances,they earn a litlle more% and after a while,some would start developing armor probabilities and best swords,changing their gold ones for stone ones.
if one dies,it doesn`t drop its items and a new one replaces it,a"fresh" one without anything but it`s sword,but they would drop better loot if they have advanced evolution,for example,more ham.
if you go out of nether,they get saved in temporal memory and spawn whith everything they had onece you enter to the nether again,for mobs,they would have the same procedure while despawning,they would be saved and re-spawned when you entered the spawning parameters.
rival species:
this is a litlle apendix,but very important,rival species would be very cool,also complementing the npc thing,if for example,pigmen attacked ghasts,you could help them,give them sheleter and protect the while they evolve,this way,they would get better defense skills and would be able to kill the ghast and viceversa.
this way they could fight without you and protect you if you kept them inside your fortress,this would also hapen with other mobs,giving regions diferent danger levels,if a group of zombies stay underground for a lot of time,they could come out and maybe,who knows,the sun wouldn`t kill them,mohahahaha!that would be awesome,you would have to control them so they wouldn evolve,and maybe a rival specie could help.:wink.gif:

I agree, having rival species would immensly increase the gaming and challenge but how would that work? Would you have to craft a device to communicate with Zombies? Through watching horror zombie movies, I had learned that they are truly stupid and all they say is "arghhhhh" so how would you form an "alliance" with them?

Well, we've learned that when Creepers say "HIssssssssssss", they're really saying "I love you and want to be your friend", so, it's possible.
Also, next time, avoid falling asleep on top of your mouse button while it's still on top of the icon menu.
Dude...YEAH!!!!! I want them to not only grow through tech but also follow with their cities.
First, You find a pigman village with just a few pigmen and no huts/houses.
Second, You leave and a few days later return and find them holding wooden tools like wooden axes and swords with wood huts.
Third, Leave and return again to find them weilding stone tools liks axes, swords, and sometimes a stone pick with cobblestone houses.
Forth, Once again leave and return to find them with iron. Now they wear lether armor. They also weild all tools even the Hoe and have smooth stone houses and an even bigger center structure.
Lastly, Come back to find them with a huge center structure like a castle with many pigmen around with guards and such with a thriving society. You can befriend them or ATTEMPT to kill them even though you will most likely be slaughtered beyond comprehension.
