Most of the people on the minecraft fourms use skins, and usually show them off, But a lot of newbies don't know how to switch there skin, and don't know about the preferences section, or don't know how to digitally switch skins, (This can be done at The skindex) It can be also hard to explain in my opinion, as in its easy to tell them where to go and where to get skins at, but they don't know how to use them. It also is annoying when you have to scroll down all of the skindex to find one skin, even though there is a search function, What if you have short term memory loss and can't remember the name of that awesome skin you were showing off? Or you deleted it by accident. What would you do?
I have had this idea for a while, its about a In game skin chooser, Rather then running to preferences and switching skins using a random .png file, you could go to the Skin Chooser option, There will be a folder on where you put the Skins in and when you see it in-game, It will show you the usual Preview of the skin you have on, like in the preferences section. Only that you will be able to choose the skin you want from the option, and not having to run to the site to do it. Besides if minecraft.net was down and you wanted to change your skin? But you couldn't because the site was down, The point of this is so its easier to change your skin in minecraft, and to be able to do it, It could be useful if you have REALLY slow internet, or if the site is down and you can't change your skin. The option would go under the Mods and texture button with the name "Skin Chooser" With the instructions on where to put your skins you downloaded in the Skin folder in someplace accsesable, like My documents. It will also tell you where you can get skins from.
Here are the benefits I have listed and found out
*Easier to switch skins
*No more "How do I change my skin?" Question
*Keeps everything organized, rather then having all the skin. pngs scrambled all over your destination folder (the folder that holds your downloaded items.
*Gives you instruction on how to change your skin, where you put the .png, and where you can get skins from.
The preference section will stay and will be the other way to change your skin the old fashion way. I just thought of this because people often ask how can you change your appearance and all that. The point of my idea is to make it easier and narrow your options down for newbies who just bought the game.
Thank you for reading my Suggestion on the Idea I came up with, and I would love Comments and Criticism as it is welcome in this topic. Thank you
And also you will be able to change skins while your Internet is off (yea).
I agree with it. Since we have Texture Pack Selector, Skin Selector should be implemented, too.
Thanks for mentioning that, and thank you for agreeing with me. Do you have any other ideas I could add to this to improve it?. also Anyone else have C&C?
